Before we get into the potential BCS bowl matchups and other stuff, I'd just like to say that the way Florida State played against the Gators was a disgrace. Next time, Geno Hayes would be better served to keep his mouth shut and stop getting into drunken brawls at a frat bar.
I actually wrote a long rant (well, half rant, half lament) about the state of the FSU football program, but I didn't want to take up the entire page.
Now that I've got that off my chest... who woulda thought that Missouri and West Virginia would be the top teams in the college world at this stage?

Yea without a doubt its been the wildest season in a long time. I'd actually like to see Mizzou win it but they've still got OU. I think W. Virginia will win and get in. The talking heads of ESPN and such have talked about what a weird and poor championship we'll get, but I'm looking forward to the BCS more than usual as we'll get to see teams that might not be back for quite a while.
#1-ranked Missouri loses 38-17 vs Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship
#2 West Virginia loses 14-9 vs Pittsburgh
Isn't that just typical?

why dont they just add a 6 team playoff with the top 2 teams getting a bye, so we can actually find out who the best team is. At the very least have a plus one game PleaSE!!!!!

I couldnt believe my eyes when W.Virgina choked. Even w/o Pat White they should have scored more than one TD. The refs with those two bs holding calls were giving them the game. The BCS was really effed up this year. I mean look at Georgia, they were ranked fourth and they drop the fifth and they didn't even play! USC was the best team this year, they must be kicking themselves for losing to STANFORD!

i hate this part of the NCAA season, why on earth their isnt some sort of playoff system or a plus one game i will never understand.

Tim Tebow wins the Heisman
Fair play to him, he did have a ridiculous season stat-wise. He's a freakin' beast of a player, and no college defenses want to play against this guy.
Having said that, if you heard him speak on the podium, you'd never think that this guy had ever stepped foot on a college campus. Honestly.
Did anybody catch the interview session they had with Tebow earlier in the week when they asked for his opinions about Colt Brennan and him being a "system quarterback?" Cracking his usual sheepish smile that suggested that he not only had no idea what he was being asked, but also had no idea how to respond in a more coherent manner, he responded with the following one-liner:
"He's a good quarterback. He's a good quarterback, and he runs a good system."

I guess repeating a question counts as a valid answer.
No small wonder then that he got a score of
890 on his SAT, despite having a 3.5 GPA during high school. Just wait 'til he gets to the NFL combines and they make him take the Wonderlic test!

My over and under on his test score would be 8 -- which, coincidentally, is the score that his former teammate Chris Leak got when he took the test last year -- and I'm not sure whether I should take the over. Something to ponder, in case the bookies ever make a bet out of it.
Side note.: You'd think a school as "prestigious" as the University of Florida would have a hard time accepting prospective students with a score of 890 on their SAT's... but hey, when you can get a freakish athlete who can inspire enough fans to come to their games and excite boosters enough to increase their contributions, his off-field accolades and activities get thrown out the window. Let's just say that if Urban Meyer had decided to go to Notre Dame instead of Florida, he never would've been allowed to recruit Little Timmy because of the school's rather strict academic qualifications.

Not really. Sounded to me like a 19 year old kid who just won the most prestigious individual achievement in his sport speaking on national TV with no speech prepared.

Cheating scandal hits Florida State big-timeThat is freakin' pathetic. I don't care if you're an athlete or not, if you have to cheat to pass a class at Florida State, you don't deserve to go to college. Period.
Believe me, I attended that school for two years, it's virtually impossible to fail a class there.
I didn't think we were going to win our bowl game vs Kentucky with our full team in tow, but this could wreck the team ahead of the match-up. Unbelievable. I mean, 25 players?

Just goes to show how out of control the Athletic Department is at FSU -- not to mention how out of touch Coach Bowden is with the current crop of players. No wonder Dave Hart resigned from his post as the AD director.
The university should bow their head in shame.
The cries for Coach Bobby to retire have never been louder.
FSU missing 34 players for the Music City BowlOnce again, FSU hang your heads in shame...

Kevin Smith goes proThis dude is the real deal. Led the entire nation in rushing yards and TD's (albeit against Conference USA teams) and made it look easy while doing it. He was slated to stay at Central Florida for another year and could have attempted to break more records, but he must've figured he had nowhere to go but down from here.
Championship game tonight, should be exciting, if not a bit one-sided in the home team's (LSU) favor.

So College Football started back up this week, no upsets yet.
I am currently watching my beloved WSU Cougars get their asses handed to them by OSU Cowboys. 18-0 in the 3rd Quarter. Would be nice if Rogers could connect to Gibson once today. I would love that.
Virginia is assuming the role of USC's bitch right now. Down 24-7 at the half. USC has too many weapons on both sides of the ball. Can't see them losing this year.
Florida, Georgia, and Ohio State all won this morning. Ohio State star running back, Wells, was injured in the game.
Michigan is down big to Utah.
Bama plays Clemson tonight. Along with some other games.
Edit: Nice Gibson just got his first touch of the day on a reverse! Yes. Now throw it to him Rogers.
Edit #2: YES GIBSON! Touchdown Cougs. Then somehow we miss the extra point. Wow.
Edit #3: Then OSU runs back the kick off for TD. Awesome job guys.

Not really surprising myself here but I'm backing USC for the championship this year.
Another year, another opening home loss to a non-BCS team for the Wolverines. Give the Utes credit though, they played them tough and held on to the very end.
And as a Florida State fan, it gave me much pleasure to see both Virginia Tech and Clemson lose their openers as well.

Oh man that Virginia Tech game was painful. That game should have been in the bag but it just got up and ran away from them. It'll be different for the Wolverines this year(obviously) since they no longer have Chad Henne but Threet and Sheridan weren't...horrible. K it's easy for you to talk, you haven't played yet!

Utah is in the BCS. Unless you meant they weren't in a BCS conference, but in any case, they could play for the national championship unlike App State.
Michigan is going to struggle this year. Until R-Rod gets his recruiting class in there, they are going to suck.
UCLA vs Tennessee is on tonight at 5 pm (pt). Should be interesting to see Norm Chow back in LA.
Rutgers vs Fresno State is about to kick off. Not very exciting but better than nothing.

I'll start: I like the Texas Longhorns basically because I live in Texas and my dad and grandfather are die hard fans. I grew up watching them and still do. I also have a soft spot for Penn State and Florida State.

seminoles have been a joke for a while now...seemed like they would be on a comeback this year but the QB simplly sucks
That game last night was like a microcosm of FSU football the last three seasons... it was almost as bad as the 30-0 home shutout at the hands of the same Wake Forest team two years ago, the game I had the misfortune of attending.
We can put up all the points we want against patsy teams in I-AA, but playing against a leading team in your conference is a whole different task -- and the Noles as a team proved yesterday that they simply aren't up to it. Three points scored, SEVEN turnovers at home. Fuck's sake, if it wasn't for our defense and some missed field goals by the Wake kicker, this one would've been another blowout.
I still don't understand why Drew Weatherford was relegated to the third spot on the QB depth chart, especially now because the two QB's ahead of him threw
five interceptions last night. He was heading into his final year and had started and won his share of games during his time, yet he gets bounced for two QB's who barely even played. I hope to god that Drew will get the starter job back now, he's the closest thing we have to a safe hand at quarterback.
As for the penalties... downright idiotic mistakes at inopportune times. Also sums up the Noles football of (at least) the last three seasons.
We won't get to 6-6 if this game is any indication

Just noticed this. As you can tell, I'm a fan of Florida State, having attended the school for two years before moving back to Orlando. Sat through my share of heartbreaking home losses in my time there, but I still came away with a much bigger appreciation of the college game, to the point where I much prefer the NCAA over the pros.
I go to UCF now, but I just can't get into the team here. A totally plastic stadium and atmosphere (jumping up and down to Zombie Nation does not constitute a legit footballing tradition), and a total dick of a coach...

USC played like shit. The play calling was way too conservative. They would let Sanchez air it out once then go back to the run. McKnight had a terrible game.
This is what sucks about USC, they will blow one game a year then destroy the rest of the schedule. They just can't put the whole package together.

I am a North Carolina fan since birth. I'm an absolutely diehard basketball fan, and try to support football as well, although there hasn't been much to cheer about for a while. Butch Davis looks to be turning things around, although our QB is out 6 weeks.
