As the old Topic got deleted in the big SP crash we need a new one to discuss about our players in the european leagues.
Tonight we'll see Fazio for Sevilla against Almeria,
Gago and maybe Higuain for Real Madrid against Ezequiel Garay from Santander and
Gabriel Milito and Leo Messi for Barca against Clemente and Zabaleta from Espanol.
Nacho Camacho
I'm not watching the match, but according to Marca's gamecast, Messi scored another supergoal

Edit: Just saw the goal, it was a superassist wink.gif - http://www.rojadirecta.com/foros/viewtopic...927b6b52f380696
progott
nah, messi only got the assist, but it was a superb assist.
Maradona^10
barca is really shit in the last 4 league games
but messi has scored 8 in the league and 4 in CL
that's not even counting his assist and other contribution such as winning a freekick and splitting defense

he's no doubt the argentina best player in european competition.
tevez is great for united ,definetely not a flop but definetely doesnt come close to messi level.

mascherano is great as always he's cambiasso type of player in term on consistency.

i'm not following real and atletico madrid so i dont know how kun, gago, saviola and higuain are doing
progott
Messi had an assist against espanol and was barcas best. On the other side Zabaleta and Clemente were also very good, clemente was great against messi in the second half, but he wasn't able to handle him when it mattered most.

Julio cruz scored another goal for inter, his 6th of the season.

Diego Milito scored a nice goal in Zaragozaz 1-2 loss.
Maradona^10
i know people doesnt really rate inter really high last season because no juventus and milan
but so far its proven that they're still the best at serie A

how old cruz is? as old as crespo?
he seems to be really good at inter milan... but only saw him few times in NT

Cruz is about 3 years older than Crespo, Cruz is 33. Its weird b/c he scores a lot of goals for Inter, but not that good for the NT- I think most of us can name 20 strikers that we would take over Cruz.
progott
tbh, cruz's last chance for the NT wasn't fair. Playing 20 minutes against germany to score from counter attacks?

I don't know why, but cambiasso is soooo good for Inter, he's probable the best in his position in the league.
Why can't this guy play like this for argentina? I guess he doesn't like playing on the wing......
Jorge A
aye he is a central defending midfielder...and mascherano is superior in that position...simple as that...
El Millonario
Not sure what to think of this, but on 8 appearances for FC Moscow, Maxi Lopez has 6 goals this term.

Well thats one problem there...Cambiasso isnt bad for the NT, arpart from the PK miss i havnt heard or seen any other complaints about him, El Cuchu is indispensable for Inter, if he can be half as good for the NT then i wouldnt complain..

QUOTE(Jorge A @ Dec 4 2007, 05:28 AM) *

Not really..Mascherano is a bull terrier, he sits infront of the defence doing all the dirty work, Cambiasso has a more all round game, he has a more expansive passing game, not just short like Masch, and his positioning and first touch always stands out..You can have both of them in the team, easily

Impressive, hes probably on ice-skates, playing in that snow...

Anway the point of me coming here was to maybe offer some information on Argentinian players playing in the SerieA especially Inter as many feature...

Fiorentina on the weekend....Cruz,Samuel,Zanetti and Cambiasso all started...

Samuel in particular has been outstanding for Inter this season
Jorge A
osvaldo didnt play for fiorentina? well i guess he is now italian :/...as for mascherano's first touch...it has greatly improved since he has been starting at liverpool and his distribution of the ball is MUCH better than when he was at river or corinthians! he can get forward and pass the ball around...maybe i am just seeing that since the alternative was sissoko who gives the ball away every time he touches it!

El Principito got his first start for Bayern today, they tied goalless against a very defensive team. Demichelis also played btw

Agüero won the Golden Boy award, it will be handed to him before tomorrow's match against Getafe.
progott
Tevez scored two in ManU's 4-1 win. He could have had a hattrick if Ronaldo hadn't took the ball away from Carlitos to score the penalty.
Gol-zalo Higuaín

How was Sosa's preformance? Good? Average?
progott
crap!
Gol-zalo Higuaín
u playin right? like caca, shit, just a horable preformance...is that what u mean? he didn't do anything good?

MU has rooney and ronaldo who also scored regularly
and tevez has scored 6 goals in a league and 2 in CL
i think he's going to score more goals then crespo in chelsea
oddly enough he's not that good in the last few games with argentina

Is that Jose Sosa?? Also whats the Golden Boy award?
Nacho Camacho
Yeah that is José Sosa. I didn't see the match live, but saw some highlights. I don't think he had a spectacular performance, he just did well. Good to see that he took a lot of set pieces though.

The Golden Boy award is an award for the best Under 21 player in the world, awarded by Tuttosport in co-operation with other papers/magazines from European countries. The first winner was Rafael van der Vaart (2003), then Rooney, then Messi and last year Fabregas. And now Kun. Not a bad list I'd say.
pico32
Samuel has been so solid this year for Inter, I guess he could be back for the NT and Cuchu is Inter's best player so far (yes better than Ibrahimovic)

IMO sosa was bad like the whole team. But you can't blame him for anything. He just comes from an injury and was starter for the first time.
However i see no special talent in this guy.
progott
This weekend wasn't good in terms of scoring goals.
Tevez had two goals for ManU
Messi was pretty poor for Barca
Aguero was also poor and was sent off with two yellow.gif
Milito scored for Zaragoza
Zabaleta scored for Espanol
Ezequiel Garay was again great for Santander

are you forgetting of "el pocho" lavezzi and "el pampa" sosa that play in the italian serie A in napoli team (the team were played Maradona)

Lavezzi is the new idol of the napoli fans, he is one of the best player of the italian serie a, is unstoppable for the defenders, he score 3 gol and make some good assist, and sosa is a substitute but when he play always score

Nice to see a Napoli fan smile.gif

Also there was Cruz who scored vs PSV, and he also scored against Torino on the weekend. Crespo also featured for the first time in a while after battling injury..
El Millonario
ok, ok, ok, we need to take-it-down-a-notch about Lavezzi. "Defenders can't stop him"??? he has the fourth most gols in Napoli!! not exactly an unstopable force. He only has 3 goals, and its the middle of freaking December! Calm down there. I remember getting excited about Mauro Rosales, the same way, but he never planned out. right now Lavezzi is a little bit better than Rosales, a far cry from being consider "one of the best in Seria A"-

I don't want to get into a big fight over Lavezzi, b/c I hope that he really does "develop" into the big star, but he is far from there at the moment.
Jorge A
plus he is italian now isnt he? he rejected the Argentine NT sad.gif
progott
no, he played against norway for us.
Maybe you mean Osvaldo..?
El Millonario
Pablo Daniel Osvaldo has elected to play for Italy's under-21, instead of Argentina (where he was born)- Note, he must play for the senior side before being banned. Osvalod got off to a fast start this year, but after scoring 2 goals in the first weeks of Seria A, he hasn't done anything else since.

Lavezzi has played for the Argentinean National Side, but only in a friendly (I think)- FIFA rules state that a player has to play in a non-friendly game for the senior side before being banned from any other national team.

We should start a thread for players who are born/or are raised in Argentina for most of their lifes, but play for other NT- call it the traitors thread

I can only think of Camoranesi. What about all the argentinians that could have played for Italy. I think D'allesandro and Saviola are 2...

Theres also Fazio of sevilla who is undecided, hes eligible for either Italy or Argentina..
progott
there is also Forestieri.
vindiv
no, lavezzi didn't rejected the seleccion

he didn't score a lot because he made assist and the defenders for stop him make a very lot of fouls

he is the most fouled player of serie a with over 70 fouls

the second has 40 fouls
12 Major Chords
Mariano Pavone scored a brace today for Betis taking his tally to 6 goals in the last 4 games. Anyone here get to see him while he was Estudiantes? What was he like?

I knew of him when he was based in Argentina. Him along with Veron were the main reason Estudiantes shocked everyone and won the title, he reminds me of Crespo, his nickname is the bomber or something if im correct. Also im surprised he went to Betis, not in an offending way, but i didnt even hear about it in the news or anything, it was very low key. How are Sobis and Pavone linking up??
Carlo Gambino
Also on topic. Zanetti captained Inter to another vicory, Cambiasso, Samuel, Crespo all featured and Cruz scored again smile.gif
progott
on a side note:
Fazio got a red card. he's a starter for Sevilla and is playing well.
Zabaleta had the assist to Espanols only goal in theire 1-0 win. He's playing great this year and should get some games for the NT.
D. Milito also scored a goal, his 6th of the season.
Coloccini scored a goal but i still hate him.
ze_89_us
Heinze is back from injury, he came on as a sub in the second half against Osasuna.

No, the rest of them Argentinian defence still needs to get injured.

Just wondering if any Argentines are tracking the progress of Lucas Trecarichi. Is there talk of him in Argentina or is he unkown? How has he played for Sevilla Atletico?

Doubt it, hes only 16 and still an unkown name, just another talent..Sorry i cant help you with his Sevilla career, one of the La Liga fans or RTFM, he knows a shitload about players in the Primera...
progott
he plays in the b-team in sevilla and didn't get any time in la liga so far.
Maradona^10
i'm glad tevez quickly came out from the shadow, after that red card againts columbia he fought hard and scored lots of goal for MU recently. including away goal againts liverpool.
He's had a chance to become argentina most successfull player in EPL.

'Nicholas'
Just on the point of defenders coming back from injury a certain Gonzalo Rodriguez is supposedly recovering well and our president recently said that he would be the only player coming into the squad in January.
This is good news for us and for Argentina if Gonzalo can get back to his best!

Iv known Gonzalo for quite a while now(not personally), since his San Lorenzo days to be precise...its a shame his career has been tarnished by horrific injuries, i think potentially he has the talent to be one of the very best in the world...or so i hear. Anyway lets hope he can get back and show La Liga what a quality defender he is smile.gif

Plus he'll probably end up moving to Inter in a few years laugh.gif Moratti will just throw the argie bait out and Gonzalo will be hooked...
progott
IMO the news abour Gonzalo isn't good, it's great. But will he have a chance for a spot?
I mean there atm there are many good CB's for Argentina. We have Milito, Garay, Demichelis, Samuel and there's also Fazio who is having a good season.

The best of times, the worst of times
Posted on Monday, 24 December 2007 by hastaelgolsiempre

It’s been a mixed pre-Christmas weekend for Argentine footballers in Europe. On the good side, we had Gabriel Heinze and Fernando Gago included in the Real Madrid side who beat Barcelona 1-0 in the Camp Nou, and the irony of two ex-River Plate players, Julio Cruz and Esteban Cambiasso, scoring to down the side who last weekend had conquered Boca in the Club World Championship. On the other, Gaby Milito lost the Spanish clásico and Sergio Agüero had an absolute ‘mare for Atlético.

Carlos Tevez had a quiet game for Manchester United as they kept up the pressure on Arsenal, beating Everton 2-1 at Old Trafford, but Agüero can only be wishing he’d been similarly quiet. Instead, he picked up his second straight red card, sent off for Atléti as they slumped to a 2-1 home defeat to Espanyol. Atlético boss Javier Aguirre insisted that, ‘what happens in the dressing room, stays in the dressing room,’ but it’s fair to say he can’t have been best pleased with his young forward.

Cruz and Cambiasso scored once each, in each half, as Internazionale came from behind to beat A.C. Milan in a cracking Milan derby. If River fans took pleasure at seeing Milan beat Boca last Sunday, they must have had a wry smile at the fact that two of their own former players proceeded to get one over on Boca’s conquerors, almost reinforcing the rivalry in the eyes of some of the Argentine press. But then if the goalscorers had been former Boca players they’d be calling it ‘revenge’, of course.

Gaby Milito didn’t do very much wrong for Barcelona in Camp Nou, but unfortunately for him the rest of his team didn’t do very much right in the final third, and although Andrés Iniesta gave it a decent go at times, the hosts looked in serious need of Lionel Messi, who watched from the stands as Madrid won thanks to a Julio Baptista goal in the first half. Gabriel Heinze played the whole game for the visitors, whilst Fernando Gago came on for Robinho in the second half and didn’t do very much.

There were celebrations all round, though, for Claudio Borghi and company, as the Argentine manager became the most successful boss in the history of Chile’s most successful team, as his Colo-Colo side won the championship playoff final 3-0 against Universidad de Concepción. Argentine Claudio Bieler scored Colo-Colo’s third goal, and they become the first team in the history of Chilean football to win three consecutive league titles.
