Just wanting to know something. Doyou think changing from black to white boots could affect your playing at all? Like your naturalness when you look down at your feet? Like I've never worn white boots, I've always had blac bootsk. I'm either going to get White/Anthracite Legend Is or Black/White Legend Is.

As long as you can tell the pitch, your feet, and the ball apart, I think you'll be fine.

Yes. I'm just trying to make sure I get the right boots, cause I've got 4 pairs of new boots lying around that I just bought that don't fit me. I just want to make sure it doesn't affect my naturalness.

Naturalness:
Peace of mind, sensitivity
A thing is natural if it is not made by humans. Naturalness is the degree to which something is natural
So you want to know whether black boots make you feel bad therefore make you play bad?

So what do you think I should do?

Mar 10 2008, 11:38 PM
ummm..throw away/sell all your black boots and get white ones? imo though it doesnt/shouldnt matter what colour your boots are, that of all things shouldnt affect performance, unless youve got blackphobia

Seriously you should learn to keep your head up when you play, you'll be a much better player. I dont think i have ever took note of my boots while i actually play.

Thanks for all the help. I know it was a weird question, but I have to make sure that my next pair of boots are perfect, because I won't be getting any more for a while. And I do keep my head up, but I do occasionally look down when I'm recieving the ball if I'm going to recieve it and immediatley turn, which I do alot Thanks again for all your help. i can shine a little light on this but i really depends on the player and for most of us what level you play at.
Q. Do you think changing from black to white boots could affect your playing at all?
A. Yes, colour and shape recognition/assimilation is a big part of all foot eye and hand eye sports.
Q. How much, can it effect me performance wise?
A. Not so much that if you are a player of average ability it will make you bad. or wont make a bad player good however, players at the professional level or elite level try not to take many chances as mistakes and changes to routines can have unexpected results.
if ur changing boot colour drastically allow a period of bad touches and mistakes while ur brain gets used to recognising. it is completley natural.
The brain basically learns through routine as we know and it recognises things by their shape and colour at a distance (if we keep it sports related.) All pro players by the age of 18 should be better than the average non pro but the reason why they continue to improve is because of high mental retention and repititon or lets say practice. shootin a ball in the corner of a goal 100 times for 100 days brings benefits and as the rest of us are either at work or school when they are doing that we tend not to keep on improving a great deal.
some of you are getting confussed about keeping your head up, over the ball and keeping your eyes on the ball. it is simple as i am sure every1 has heard many times since they were kids 'keep your eyes on the ball' bub marley has a point keep yur head up - yes for balance and so its easier for you to look around BUT try to keep your eyes on the ball when controlling or kicking the ball. if your head is right down u will be off balance and u will have to move your head up then look around to see your options then look down again to kick it and thats why people say keep your head up but your head being up doesnt make u a better player its the spacial awareness and vision that does. players like rui costa are 1 in a million who was famed for hardly ever looking down. look at some picks 99% of players are lookin at the ball on impact. ronaldinho does as well the no look pass is a trick that he doesnt do that much in a game.
anyway
your eyes/brain will be used to following the ball around the pitch and anticipating it movement, then ur brain will move ur foot towards the ball. it will get used to the shape of your foot/boot and the colour. here is the tricky part. your brain recognises colours quicker than shapes this is the science behind why tricky player tend to like to wear white or bright or lets say high visability boots. once u are used to your foot being bright yellow u will be able to recognise the yellow or white ball really fast then your boots just as fast and then move one towards the other faster. black is a low visabilty colour/shade and that is why balls are never solid black becasue even in a well lit room your natural reactions would be slowerbecuase black blends into everything but white when moving slowly. of course some players personally dont agree with the science and wear black outs but they are pros and sometimes they can do what they want even tho boot companies are reluctant.
so changing from black to white does make a difference- u will see ur boots quicker and all though it wont make u lightning fast like ronaldo it will increase reaction time by a few tenths of a second. it will take a few days or weeks of training if u train with them regularly before ur brain learns to recognise the new colour quickly. it is called colour assimilation. now if ur prepared to pay more for ur flashy boots and be cleaning them every week than go for it but many defenders kick players in flashy boots. uv been warned hahah

For me its i when i used to play rec i would always have black wal-mart boots, then on my first club team i got some of those super cheap 30 dollar t 90s (the cool ones with the whole silver boot and the red 90 on the inside) then i got some blue and white ones (first pair of boots with white on em) so i always go for a boot that is not black from now on, now ive got my first pair of boots over 80 bucks (orange peel mv4s) and i love em, i love the orange color tho cuase i like it when im out on the feild and the sun comes off em and there all shiny

Lol. I'm just asking if they were that heavy because my old Total 90 II VT were something fierce compared to my +F50.7s! And I constantly hear the complaining of "Total 90's are hella heavy", "lead weights"", etc.
+F50.7s are somewhat heavy, but they don't bother me.
Plus, I can't really do THAT fast on step overs as CR7

I like the one that Robinho and Ronaldo do all the time ( I forget the name). It's more efficient for me.

its risky using anything like the magic erasers. i practice on turf 3 to 5 days a week and it makes the bottom have of my cleat black but it wears off when you play a game or too in grass(obviously the rain helps) but the chemicals can take the shine off of things so dont use the eraser unless really really needed

If you got em, why not try it?

Honestly, I wouldn't expect you to feel too much of a difference, maybe having the tweak your playing style a little bit to accommodate, but the weight difference shouldn't be big enough to the point where you feel like you have the momentum of a 18-wheeler on one leg and the feel of a trash bag on the other.
LFCMVFC
Mar 29 2008, 01:13 AM
yeah, i could try them, but i CBF going outside, too cold.
I know i wouldnt gather momentum to the point where id run off the pitch but yeah...lol.
i was also thinking it could also even things up a bit, my kicking leg is naturally stronger so more weight for it to carry might do something. I was just wondering if it felt weird, it might also feel weird in your head to, you know what i mean. Its only 40grams anyway so no biggie.
