Zurawski linked with Galaxy move

Out-of-favour Celtic striker Maciej Zurawski is considering a move to LA Galaxy, according to his agent.
The player's Polish representative Jerzy Kopiec expects to hold talks with the Californian club next week.

"The offer from Galaxy is very serious," Kopiec told the Daily Mail. "They are really determined to sign Maciej and treat him as a big star."

Zurawski, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has only started one match for Celtic this term.

The Poland international scored 20 goals during his first campaign at Celtic Park.

He managed 10 goals last term, having been sidelined late in the season by injury.

However, Zurawski has not made a starting line-up this term since Celtic's opening league game - a 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock.

The 31-year-old has made seven appearances as a substitute but has not managed to find the net.

Would be a great signing for an MLS side, a couple seasons back he was one of the best strikers in the SPL, not quite sure what happened to him.
Shalrie
Would be a great signing for them considering that they wouldn't have to use a designated player slot on them. He would be a perfect forward to compliment Donovan and Beckham. I remember reports from last season that Chicago was interested in using their DP on him.

Anyone has to be better than Pavon right?
Shalrie
I could name someone

jrlm8
Well atleast Buddle never got my hopes up by scoring a ton of goals in Gold Cup! tongue.gif

Goff is reporting there is a mega deal in the works between DC,LA, and FC D. DC gets Joe Cannon. LA gets Carlos Ruiz. No idea what Dallas gets. This deal only came up because Troy Perkins appears to be heading to Europe to ply his trade.

more info soon.

Steve Goff's latest info

Now I am hearing that Boswell is on his way out of D.C., perhaps to Houston, which might mean one of the Dynamo goalkeepers is heading this way instead of Cannon.

Complications with Ruiz going to L.A. and joining high-priced Beckham and Donovan might have killed the original deal.....

UPDATED: I am told that the original deal was Boswell and cash to Dallas, Ruiz from Dallas to L.A., and Cannon from L.A. to D.C. The league would not allow it because Beckham is a designated player and both Ruiz and Donovan are grandfathered DPs.
jrlm8
I wasn't that excited for Ruiz anyway. Even though we seem to only win when we have a Guatemalan.

3 DPs would be too many.
The 92nd Fish
Ruiz was a grandfathered DP, and probably wouldn't be worth DP money anymore anyways, considering his crap last season and that his contract was up, so was due for renewal. Rumours are flying all over the place though, this article quotes him as saying he's happy to be back in LA and is looking forwards to playing with Beckham, whereas other sources are claiming the deal has fallen through blink.gif

Playing in the SPL, I'd be suprised if Zurawski's wage is anything above £15-20k, thats £780,000 - £1,400,000 a year, converting into dollars we're looking at $1,560,000 to $2,800,000 per year well outside of the cap and in DP numbers, considering LA have already used their DP slot and don't really have anything else to trade with another team for a second DP, Zurawski is going to have to take a major paycut if the Galaxy are going to get him, as I don't see LA getting a second DP slot (unless they pinch it off San Jose for a utility player) and even if they do, they'll use it on a much higher profile player than Maciej Zurawski.

$400,000/52 = $7,692 or £3,846 per week, so I can hardly see Zurawski coming for normal MLS wages (and might I add, the highest possible normal MLS wages), unless they really sell the nature of living in Los Angeles and playing with Beckham to him. Then again Xavier was happy to switch the EPL for normal squad wages for the chance of playing first team and living in the states, so you never know.

Norwich's Darren Huckerby to the Galaxy?
The Red Scare
hmmm that's an interesting rumor, although I have heard of Darren Huckerby. I remember he scored some good goals the year Norwich was in the premiership, I remember one against arsenal the most. I think huckerby could at least produce more goals than pavon lol.
The Pharaoh
An Egyptian guy is currently on trial at LA Galaxy. He plays in Ahly youth team. Sadly I don't even know his name.
jrlm8
Interesting. I would love some youth talent on this team.

Nope not a chance. There is no way that they would be able to afford Beckham, Donovan, and Ronaldo. That rumour is pure speculation.

Its junk but its the off season so any news is post worthy at this point. smile.gif
