I've read a few times of big name MLS players being blocked moves to Europe by the MLS, such as Clint Mathis being unable to go to Bayern Munich after the 2002 WC, or Dempsey's rejected move to Charlton. Why is it the MLS who rejects these?Wouldn't the clubs be doing this business?

MLS owns the players contracts not the clubs. The only incident I could point to as to when a club blocked a player move was when KC switched owners and they refused to take the team unless EJ was on it. So it is the league that blocks the move, not the clubs.

This is ridiculous. Single entity NEEDS to go out the window. The league should negotiate foreign transfers as often as a man can have a baby.

Why? Most MLS teams would be sinking in the water at this point if it wasn't for single entity. We are still not strong enough to venture away from shared revenue, and there really is no need to venture away from it.

I know that it can't go out of the window right away. But I hope that by this time fifty years from now, it will be nothing more than a distant memory.

The league owning the contracts is the biggest problem I have with it.

Well you can't have your cake and eat it too. smile.gif
