Hamburg and Leverkusen are through already whereas wins fpr Nürnberg and Bayern would make sure they are through as well. That's actually quiet good methinks. Nice to see our German teams doing good in the Uefa Cup.

No team bar Stuttgart has fucked up thus far this season which is good for that Uefa 5 year ranking.

So basically, all German team Uefa Cup and CL talk goes here!
energy41
Schalke have reached the CL knockoutstages whereas Bremen have at least made it into the next round of the Uefa Cup. Considering that all 3 German teams struggled in their groups this is an acceptable outcome.
Stuttgart can't be blamed for their group of death. I think they will be back stronger in Europe next season.
RockinRaul
is the first time schalke went that far! its pretty cool for them and they really wanted it, you could see that last night. werder was rather dissapointing. i mean, people will say they had madrid in their group, but come on, schalke had chelsea. and bremen made their best games vs bermen. so do not tell me it was because of that! i really have no idea, it just seemed like they did not have the spirit put in the right way.

good thing for schalke, tho! now we will see how barca will destroy vfb sad.gif great night

UEFA Cup time again, tonight and tomorrow.
Four German teams are still involved, and if all go through (read: if Bayern and Nürnberg win their last group game) it will be five because Werder Bremen will join in as a CL group stages 3rd place side.

Now then, here are the tables and fixtures again:

Group A Played Points
Everton 3 9
Zenit 4 5
AZ 3 4
Nürnberg 3 4
Larissa 3 0

Group E Played Points
Spartak Moskva 3 7
Zürich 3 6
Leverkusen 3 6
Sparta 4 4
Toulouse 3 0

Group D Played Points
Hamburg 3 9
Basel 3 7
Brann 4 4
Dinamo Zagreb 3 1
Rennes 3 1

Group F Played Points
Bolton 4 6
Aris 3 5
Bayern 3 5
Braga 3 3
Crvena Zvezda 3 0

Matchday 5 - 19 December 2007
E Zürich 20:45 Leverkusen
E Toulouse 20:45 Spartak Moskva
F Braga 20:45 Crvena Zvezda (Red Star)
F Bayern 20:45 Aris

Matchday 5 - 20 December 2007
A AZ 20:45 Everton
A Larissa 20:45 Nürnberg
D Hamburg 20:45 Basel
D Rennes 20:45 Dinamo Zagreb

Leverkusen should at least try to get a draw, to get a positive result. A win could be useful since they would avoid a CL 3rd place side in the next round.
Bayern have to go through tonight, no doubt. No offence to Saloniki but if Bayern lose to them at home then they really didn't deserve to go through. On the other hand they will win the group if they win tonight, should be useful to ease pressure on Hitzfeld and the team.
Hamburg need a draw to win their group and I think they are capable of that.
So basically, 3 German teams can win their group this week, would be great stuff.
Nürnberg have to beat Larissa, who are beatable but especially games like that can be tricky so I don't expect too much from them, hoping for a win though.
energy41
So Bayern have beaten Saloniki 6-0 at home while Leverkusen won 5-0 at Zürich.
Awesome stuff that is. Also another nice little boost for that Uefa 5 year ranking.
Fingers crossed für Nürnberg tonight... it would be massive to have 5 German teams in the round of the last 32.
energy41
Nürnberg won 3-1 and Hamburg drew 1-1, perfect. Just what the doctor ordered.

So the Bundesliga teams got the following draws:

FC Porto vs Schalke 04

Aberdeen FC vs Bayern Munich
Galatasaray vs Bayer Leverkusen
FC Zürich vs Hamburg
Werder Bremen vs Sporting Braga
Benfica Lisbon vs 1.FC Nürnberg

So what do you all think how the chances of the German teams are?
RockinRaul
bayern, hamburg and bremen look great to me. good chances. the rest might have to deal with some nice little surprises. i am just nor so sure if nürnberg can really deal with benfica. they seem to be a number too big. laugh.gif
Zayne
Anybody watching Leverkusen right now? They're having some trouble against Galatasaray, still 0-0 after 30 minutes though.
*Glow*
Yup I am, looks like good weather to play football. mellow.gif
Zayne
The Leverkusen players don't look to comfortable out there..

Despite the difficulties they managed to get a goalless draw, so I would see them as big favourites to proceed to the next round after the second leg in Bayarena.

Currently have been watching Werder-Braga. Halftime score 2-0 and Wiese has allready saved 2 penalties. Without any big mistakes Bremen should get a nice result from this leg. Have to say that the game has been really entertaining. smile.gif
Zayne
Leverkusen held on well, a good outcome for them considering the second leg.

Wiese is class, though both penalties are disputable imo.

Yep, both were very questionable. Today again we have seen 2 top German goalkeepers in action, when is Löw waking up and kicking Lehmann out...
Pupesh
Well, tomorrow you will see another German goalkeeper and wonder why he hasnt been called up for the NT.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome - Bernd Dreher tongue.gif
God if we dont concede a goal it would be a miracle, i would be happy with a draw with Dreher in goal actually...Kraft would be better.
Zayne
Dreher has always been ok for one or two games when called upon, even though he's getting up there in years. I expect us too be dominant enough to keep the ball away from goal most of the time. I'm more worried about the absence of Ribery and especially van Bommel.
Pupesh
I take my words back...the second goal today... Dreher would have kept a clean sheet dry.gif
Zayne
The second goal wasn't unsaveable, but on the first one there wasn't much he could do.

Nuremberg actually lost 1-0 against Benfica, but in their current state I'd say that's still a good result for them. Though they probably have other problems at the moment.
