Let's admit it. We have all wondered who is the better brand in football.
Who sponsers the better teams?
Who makes the better boots?
Who has the better boot designs?
Who has more durable things?
Who deserves the crown of best football brand?
Argue it out, defend your favorite brand. It's time we all find out who deserves the Crown for BEST FOOTBALL BRAND.

I think it's so so difficult to even ask the question! Both have such great characteristics in their market, and as much as we say one manufacturer has some faults about them the other tends to have the same amount really.
I like Nike's design better however, it is much more simplistic excluding the T90 but that is my personal opinion. The next person may like Adidas due to its complexity of its designs! I have used top end boots from both Nike and Adidas and I have only had problems with the Absolutes (the soleplate snapped). I have found out that Nike tend to fit me better also.
I dont think there isa ny point asking the question who sponsors the best teams, as the team tends to pick a deal from a manufacturer that is best for them. This is why I feel more and more teams are now appearing in smaller brands such as Umbro, Puma and even Canterbury.
Soo in conclusion...
Better teams- Neither
Better boots- Nike
Durabilty- Nike
Crown- Nike 2 - 0 Adidas

The FB Awards should determine this:

Last year Nike won the majority of things!

I picked nike on the awards. Because i liked their boot designs more. The only thing i like from adidas more than nike is their K-leather boots. Durablity, comfort, and all those factors seem to be equal to me.

i think nike definitley has better teams.
and better boots visually
i think addidas however is better on durability excluding the tunit
NIke boots tend to fit me way better than adidas do so i give nike the crown.
Also, IMO the vapor will always be the best boot ive ever had and isnt it like the number one selling boot right now?
and considering the EPL top scorer has worn vapor for 5 years now or something like that i think that has alot to do with it

i have a question through who is the pioneer of soccer. Who first started to break out on football boot sales first? adidas or nike?
Predator 23
Jul 25 2008, 05:34 PM
Adidas came waaaaaay before Nike. Nike is still fairly new to the football market.
Adidas came first, Adidas are still first. They have the Copa, a timeless icon, Preds which have been THE Boot for over a decade. Throw in innovations like the F50 Tunit, which do work if you take of them, and the classic yet modern Adipure, and Adidas aren't touched. Nike has become so popular with their Vapor, but it still doesn't have the longevity of the Predator, and IMO doesn't come close to matching it in terms of popularity.
As for kit-making, I think Adidas is bigger on the international stage. They had both EURO finalists and an 06 WC finalist. Club wise, I think the 2 are about even. Both have plenty of huge and storied clubs.

I've always wanted it have this argument here, glad you started this thread mate.

Ya i remember the time where most national teams were sponsered by adidas. Actually the best of teams like argentina, france, spain, germany, ect were sponsered by adidas. All these teams actually still have that sponser and anyone that has been around long enough and seen the dramatic change of boots they will prolly still say that adidas is the pioneer of the soccer market.
Personaly I am a young soccer player and like the boots that stand out. I think Nike has done a good job in that. Adidas's tunits stand out but not everyone likes tunits. Adidas and Nike are tied from what i hear but i would have to say that I prefer nike as my boot of choice.
adidas vs nike match up of boots is a little something like this...
vapors v.s tunits
legends v.s adiPures
lasers v.s preds
come to think of it adidas has a larger inventory of top class boots.
copa's for example ect. classic!!!

I like nike more right now because of Vapors too lol. Those boots are just perfect for me. Comfort is there. Durability, Lightweight. Its just the perfect overall boot. Especially the IIIs.

ya i have like 5 pairs of the vapor III's and they are so amazing. Vapor IV's are also but the lase cover seems to always rip and also the blisters you get in them.

Yeah, but Nike just gave me $200 over a little lace cover rip. I'll take Nike anyday.

I would have to say I like nike better for two reasons.... vapors yeah i know, but they fit me great and i love the stud design, and next becuase I had a pair of absolotos that tore my feet up once. But in a vapor vs f50-- vapor, laser vs pred-- pred, legend vs adipure-- legend

preds v.s lasers
lasers are more of a all around boot.
they feel good to sprint on and can fit anyone on any position. i know i have a few pairs
preds arent very durable and a outside mid or a forward dont really wear them.
i think lasers win in my opinion....

I like preds more. Alot of people wear preds that play midfield like Beckham. But i do think the better preds were the older models.

I believe that Nike has a more simple and more affective approach in terms of there design, Adidas has a lot of unneeded details that make the boot look strange. If I don't have a certain boot, I have borrowed from a teammate, Nike and Adidas both make comfortable boots that work very well in games. I believe they are so equal that design is what separates them.

i'm a laser person, what really won me over instead of the powerswerves was the lasers fit. it felt more comfortable than the Ps' which had a weird sharp pain in the centre of the boot. dont know if it was the boot but i didnt seem to have the problem with any other boots.

i agree 100%
IMO the adidas boots are just all around better make and more iconic. Don't get me wrong, i own a pair of vapor iv's and they look sick. But in terms of proper (leather) football boots adidas are king

Adidas: Tradition. Copas have been around for 25+ years and still are an incredible boot. Predators have been around for quite a while as well and is a sick boot. The predator elements have since then been imitated by Kelme and Umbro, but is not the real deal. Tunits have seem to hit it off too well with the public, cool idea, just haven't got it perfect yet ( I miss the original f50s

). Adipures are a throw back to copas but more for the modern game.
Nike : Innovation. Vapors were really the first synthetic high end boot to be popular. NikeSkin was light with good touch and protection. Legends are a great looking k-leather boot with zoom air technology for a light and comfortable fell on the ground. Laser are relatively new, but have had no problem winning people over with a great look, and the new shot shield and eVent mesh.
Most of it really comes down to preference. I'm on the fence here cause I love copas and preds, but nike seems to look more simple ( no see-through sh!t like the f50.8) and seem to fit me better. At the moment I'm a nike guys, but maybe the next preds with change my mind.

predators for the win.
as much as i like the colours and designs of the nike laser II the green + black... fully sick colour.. I still find i like the preds more, because i find they are more comfortable and suited for my feet..
also here in aus.. pred are cheaper than lasers.. which makes it a double win for me..

I'm no expert, but I've tried a few of each company. I used a pair of Absolions this past season the '06 model I believe, and the boots fit my style pretty well, I had no problems with them, they were GREAT in the rain. It seemed to be to be a great full leather grain boot. I picked up a pair of Nike Velocis a month ago, and I've had about 3-4 chances to use them. The Veloci seems to be cut very snug to the foot, and lighter. It seems like the Vapor line is a great synthetic boot, and if you want something simple and easy, it'll get the job done. My predators have a little more sophisticated feel, so I think Adidas has tried to be innovative, while Nike is holding it up strong with some simplistic boots.

Three stripes all the way. Tunits and Adipures are new but are still amazing and Predators are timeless. Plus adidas has been doing it longer.

Nike sponsor United, the USA, and make the Vapors, which I wear. I'm sure I'd be fine wearing Adidas, but I'm content with Nike. I also know that if my shoes break, I can get a voucher for them.

You can get a voucher with Adidas too, the same exact way. And it makes sense that Nike sponsors USA, its an American company.

I would have to say Nike, you look at how short a time they have been around soccer and they are amazing.
Nike started with the crazy colors, the vapors are gorgeous.
Look at nike marketing and their players the most exciting players.
Adidas has Kaka, Messi, Gerard that is about it Ballack,Podolski, Anderson are ok..
Nike has Ronaldo, Ronaldinho,Robinho,Drogba,Adriano,Fabregas,Rooney,Pato.
Nike all the way, more flashy more style.
I have Adipure which are great but the vapors for me aside from blisters, no cleats compare.

adidas for me all my life. mayb not all, but after i had bad experience with nike, i'm an adidas fan forever.
mayb it's just my luck, but i spoilt two pairs of nikes in less than half a year. adidas however lasted me for a long long long time, roughly 2-3 years?
and i'm a big fan of f50s, love all of them (apart from the little prob of .6's toe box, bad shaping there). have yet to try a pair of leather tunits, but i tink it's better than the euro leather vapor.
and tradition, adidas came a long way to become the football giant, for that, everyone shuld agree.
but i must also comment that nike has MUCH better graphics, i just wish adidas can hire better designers. nike's designs are anytime WAY better than adi's.
and the sponsored players, come on adidas, zidane's era is over, move on to sponsor more gd players!
nike's got ronaldos, ronaldinho, rooney, cesc, etc.
adidas? kaka, gerrard, messi. they are gd, but the impact of the combined force of nike's is still more overwhelming.
still, i'd die an adidas fan!

this is only footwear. it all depends on your style of play.
SPEED
vapor vs f50- it was too hard to say until adidas switched to tunit. vapor takes the cake
POWER
preds vs t90- i say predator because of the greater surface area of k leather. some would argue and they may be right
TOUCH
legend vs adipure- adipures are more aesthetic, also lighter. they win making adidas the front runner
so adidas wins 2 out of the 3 areas, if youre going for touch or power, then nike. but if you're a speed player nike wins, although in my opinion puma v1.06s are much better but have no durability.
