I don't know if this is the right place to post this and i'm sorry if it's already been answered
when robbie keane was unvealed as a liverpool player on his shirt, the lettering and numbering was different. The letters were the current EPL style but the number 7 was the old style numbering which had stopped being used at the end of the 06-07 season.
i just wondered if anyone knew why liverpool used the old numbering, because surely liverpool have enough stock of the current style number 7, i find it weird how they mixed and matched the two styles as it would have made more sense if they had the lettering as the old style as well.
i have tried to find pictures but none showing the number 7, although sky sports news have shown footage of it today.

i thought that it was bit weird, i'm sure it was just an error by whoever printed the shirt, maybe when they went to find the number 7 there was an old style one there in the box with the rest of them.
Who knows? either way it's still pretty weird

it doesn't add up does it
it's even a new shirt that has never used the old style numbering, i mean the previous shirt did for a season which would make more sense

He wore the old style 7 against Rangers. Maybe the number 7 might be a temporary move until Voronin is sold and frees up the 10?

no i think no7 will be his number because it's a pretty big number to have and in anfield folklore.
maybe liverpool have run out of no7's ha what a calamity that would be

there is clearly more to this than a small mistake!!
actuall against villareal i thought he was using the old style, but i wasn't sure so i didn't say anything
hmm is that even allowed, to have someone using a different number to the rest of the team??

There is nothing sinister to this apart from the fact someone in the Liverpool kitroom is a complete muppet....He was using it against Villareal as well. Every chance that the person who has printed his shirts up has done 3 or 4 shirts and used the old numbers by mistake from an old pile of numbering so they are actually the only shirts he has from shirts the kitroom has taken with them. The shirts for the rest of the team would in all likelyhood have been printed many days prior to this and Keane's was done at the last minute as he only signed the day Liverpool left for Spain.
In friendlies it doesn't really matter what they they use for shirt numbering but in the CL or FAPL all shirts have to have the correct pre-approved numbering.
