Guys, i've heard about a few people on here using the "Hot Shower Trick" with New football boots, particularly Kangaroo Leather boots, and using this way of getting the boots to mould to your feet.

I'm looking to buy the Concave's with the K leather this afternoon, so I'm looking for a little help from you guys, with getting the best fit.

I'm about a 9 in normal trainers, and would normally buy a size bigger in the football boot, but would i be right in saying I should only go have a size bigger, or does this not apply if using the "Hot Shower Trick"?

And finally, can anyone suggest the best way of restoring my Adidas WC's and Copa Mundial's to their best, as I relasied last night they've been stuck in a bag unpolished for over a year, and have dry surface only mud on them.
Should I wash them, then dry and polish? Or is there a better way?

If there is a boot care section on here, I apologise, I have looked for the best section, and tried searching, but couldn't locate anything that seemed right.

Thanks guys.

hey man, the best thing for you would be to try different sizes on and see which one fits you best or if you buying them online then i would probably suggest only a half size bigger although my boots are smaller sizes than my normal shoes so it would be harder buying the right size online i guess, but if you can try them on then get a size which is snug and theres no big gap at the toes and end of shoe and arent too wide, so that they are tight but not uncomfortable, then the shower or bath trick wont really be needed and you can break them in normally which is better in my opinion

yeh just wash them properly, polish them and start using them again after a few uses they should be fine and dont leave them out to dry in the sun because the leather will dry up and crack

Cheers for the reply, i'm going to try them on tonight, but I think at the moment, that JJB only have the PT1 (synthetic uppers) in stock, i've rung a few stores, so I may hold out for the PT+, and get some Nomis Glove's in the mean time.

Appreciate the help with the cleaning of the boots too, I cant believe that I'd left them like that. Hopefully they'll get back to some kind of their previous lustre.

Thanks.

Make sure its not too hot or else the glue will become loose on the soleplate.

Whoever came up with this myth should be shot!!!!! Having made the K-Leather for the last 6 1/2 years for the top brands and having made leather for over 18 years this simply does not work!!!!! Buy the right fitting boots in the first place, which will prolong the life of your boot and be far better for your feet!!!!!!

what would you suggest when trying to mould boots to your foot? just wearing them in? i didnt try the hot shower trick because i read on big soccer that you said it was probably one of the worst things you could do.

The idea of putting $200 boots is submerged water makes me cringe.

Firstly buy a boot that fits you well from the beginning. I know that is becoming increasingly difficult with most guys grabbing deals from the internet and the virtual store, but it is important.

Secondly, it is my opinion that modern day footwear can be made to fit and conform well. Gone are the days of breaking in leather, etc. But there are still the people out there that cut corners to make their products cheaper so that you the consumer believe you are just getting that little bit of a better bargain. Your feet are so important, so it is in your best interest to look after them as best you can.

The boots should mould to your foot quite quickly for a well made product. Moisture does help, in that if it can get into the fibre structure it will act as a secondary lubricant for a short while, but that does not mean sit in a bath or stand in a shower. But the issue is that nowadays the technology of the leather and components in good shoes has moved on so far that this should not be necessary.

Just wear them around the house for a while. Out of interest what brand and model are they???

well before getting my nike laser i kleather's i went to the store and tried them, found the best fitting size and bought them online. they are a good fit, its only that my left boot feels a litlte looser. i tighten the laces on my left boot during a game and there is still that gap between my ankle and the side of the boot. kind of annoying but otherwise its a good fit. after every game i clean it with a cloth and water. fortunately its spring and there is no mud. so cleaning isnt as bad as winter where i'd take out a chunk of mud under the sole.
untill the end
i did that shower thing with my MVlll HG and they shrunk, some with my MVK. i dont know if they actualy did shrunk but they feel much tighter, should of never done that.. ranting.gif
