Full Version: Wide Boot Question

I have wide feet, in between a wide and a double wide. I ended up buying cleats that are a full size bigger than I actually need in order to get that tight, but comfortable glove like fit, at the expense of 1/2"+ room in the toebox.

Well, those boots are worn out now, and looking online, the only wide fit boots I could find were top of the line Predators. I don't play nearly enough or competitive enough to justify $200 boots, as a keeper. While browsing around looking for boots, I ran across Tunit uppers that come in a wide fit. My question is, are Tunit WF uppers compatible with the regular chassis? Every site I've seen selling them says you have to match the upper and chassis, well, if my upper is a 10.5 W and my chassis is a 10.5 M, they're obviously not the same size, right? Or are they compatible?

Any tips on whether or not the ClimaCool chassis is a good idea for someone prone to rolled ankles and shin splints (yet has a flat chunky foot that needs all the room it can get in the shoe, hence why I want the "lightweight" chassis) or just suggestions in general for a wide boot that won't break the bank would be MUCH appreciated.

Cliff Notes:
1. I have wide feet
2. Does a Tunit WF upper fit on regular Tunit chassis, or is there some WF chassis that I'm not aware of that's been discontinued?
3. Pancakes?
4. Profit

Well I can't say anything about the tunits since I've never had them but I can tell you that Nike Lasers and Strikes are pretty wide. They also have widefit options such as this:

The Reebok Sprintfit Pro II is also a decent wide boot. I have a pretty wide foot and I'm very comfortable in them. Also since they are k-leather expect some stretching. These are they:

If you do come down to choosing between these boots I would recommend the Lasers since you can get them on sale, and who wouldn't rather have Nike over Reebok?(Thierry Henry aside...)

I tried Lasers on at a soccer shop, and like any other boot the only way I'm going to fit into a regular width one is if it's a half a size or a size bigger than I need it to be. NIKEiD has a bunch of boots on sale, and thanks for the wide-fit options on the lasers.

Anyone know about the Tunit WF?

Hmm, I made some nice Wide Talarias on Nike iD...

Now not only am I torn between getting the Talarias for $120 or going with my Tunit solution for about $100, but I'm also trying to figure these sizes out.

I regularly wear Reebok Classics, for school or whenever I really don't feel like wearing flip flops. I've got a wide foot, but I've found I can ignore a little bit of extra room in the front and back of the shoe and be comfortable all around wearing a size 11 in those.
My current soccer boots are an old ass pair of Adidas that I can only identify by the "Traxion Hard Ground" written on the insole, I bought these at Shoe Carnival for like $30 a year or two ago. They're size 11, I have maybe 1/2-3/4 inch extra space in them, but they stretched out width wise. I get blisters on my big toes whenever I wear them.
My foot won't go in flip flops unless they're size 11, but then I have an extra 1/2-3/4 inch in those too.

So, basically, my ideal boot size would be a 10.5 W. Do the Tunits (F50.7 WF) or Talarias run any differently than a usual shoe? Ah, I'm such a confused noob. And I'd try boots on at a shop but the soccer shop I tried was out of 10.5 in almost everything I wanted to try on, except Lasers tongue.gif
