Well he punched steve mooore in the back of the head, not meaning to but he broke his neck..so Big Bert was susepended for the rest of the season and the play offs, and now he is being charged with assult. WHAT THE HECK!! if your a hockey fan please reply..oh Bert is a Canuck, and moore was from the Avalanche..I say free Bert!!

not this again. if you watch teh tapes.. yes he punched him, maybe even knocked him out, but the punch alone didnt break his neck, teh falling down and getting jumped on by 6 other 200 pound guys did. Its very sad to see moore's career in jeopardy, but bertuzzi was not the sole contributor to this, and shouldnt be chraged as the sole contributor becuase of that.

Hes forfeited pay, hes been suspended. I dont think we need to put him in jail, because hes clearly learned his lesson. Fair justice not only means getting what you deserve in return, but also not going over the limits of justice either.

I think people are missing that.

About the "bertuzzi incident" well this shit has a life of its own now and though its true that it was a cheap shot you cant really blame the guy for doing something that the league itself allows. And to press charges? that is just too much, you would have to arrest half the league.

The league knew it was bound to happen
they didn't do anything for the headshot by Moore on Naslund.

Bertuzzi has suffered enough. If Steve Moore does sue Bert, he will lose ALOT of respect from people around the league.

I hope Bertuzzi will return if there is a next season like a man possesed.

It is sad what is happening to bert he shouldn't be charged and i believe moore will ask to have the charges dropped becuase it was a freak accident in the game. Also Bert should come back next year even though his hit was a cheap shot. The Canucks could have gone to the stanley cup last year if Bert was there.

Also the bertuizzi hit was in response to a cheap shot on nasluand earlier in the season

WOW!! guess what I jsut found out today!?!?1 ...my friend's brother John Lammers was drafted to the Dallas Stars!! and so was this guy at my school Ben Walters, and today at this Canada day celebration I met another guy who was drafted to the Stars..Ray Segala or something like that!! I've been a HIFK fan for all my life. Haven't had a season ticket, but I've been in their games often. For your information, HIFK plays in the Finnish primary league, SM-Liiga. It's the kind of team that makes it to the headlines everytime. You either love the team or hate it, they say.. and I love it! They're been known from their aggressive style of play.

Here's a few players who have left to NHL from HIFK in the past few years: Zidlicky, Rafalski, Kapanen, Jokinen.. Zidlicky was my fav player for a long time.

He signed with a Swiss team. He was a restricted free agent and he was getting frustrated at the stalling CBA talks, and no new contract.
He isn't the only player to sign a contract with a overseas team this off-season and he won't be the last, but the amount of players hopping from NHL to the overseas leagues will be dictated by how the CBA talks go.

Yah i noticed that about the oversea signings. Also the bertuzzi hit, Moore was more injuried by the fall onto the ice then the hit even though it was a cheap shot!

bertuzzi incident. like other people have said. it wasn't the hit, it was the sliding on the ice and the pile that did it. but if he hadn't gotten hurt, it would have just been on in a million similar hits in the nhl, only this time the inevitable happened. although it was relation from a previous game and hit, but moore was already in a fight earlier in the game because of it, so bertuzzi's action was superfluous.

i agree it should not go to court. this is a sporting matter and not a criminal matter. people intentionally hurt people all the time in sports, especially in hockey, and i do not see how this should be any different.

when roy keane's book came out and he said he purposely tried to break the guys leg, didn't it just go to the fa? i'm being serious, was this pursued legally.

you cannot have a sport like hockey that embraces violence, the fighting, and advertises it to its public, and then condemn a product of its own creation. if he hadn't gotten hurt, this may have been a promo on espn or fox. the nhl is hypocritical. until you limit the hits, you cannot just punish where people get hurt.

Well, what broke Steve Moore's neck was not the punch obvoiusly it was when Bertuzzi fell on him and drove his head onto the ice. Watch the replays you can see which point his neck broke, it wasn't the pile up after. If Todd Bertuzzi goes to jail for manslaughter so be it, you live with the choices you make.

First off, ESPN and FOX are desperately trying to get some rating casuse they are losing money with this TV contract with the NHL. Secondly, they don't understand half of the nature of hockey, hockey doesn't emrace violence, yes there is fighting etc.,etc. , but we encourage putting the puck in the net more than anything.

The NHL has the stupidest commisoner in all of sports who actually looks like a weasel. And we got a lockout between the owners bitching about something they gotta pay for and the players not getting thier deal. The NHL can burn in hell for all I care, just don't take the original six with you becuase I know my sport will live forever.

I think its so stupid that Bert doesn't get to play for Canada..and the only reason went after moore was because moore hit naslund 3 games before that..he had it coming..and should have been expecting it..and Bert shouldn't have hit him from behind..he should have come full force in front, and nocked him backwards, rather than breaking his neck..but w/e..life goes on..and if moore is a decent guy he woun't press charges..
