For the 4th time, a Adidas Finale match ball exploded during game play. In the CL match between Real and Juventus, an Adidas ball once again exploded and had to be replaced.
One fan certainly will be excited that he got the ball from Roberto Carlos.
But the problem still remains: "what's the problem with these balls"...
Maybe the glue?

It's fairly common to have problems like that with any balls. I've seen trouble with Mitre balls in the FA cup, Nike balls in the Premiership. It happens once every few weeks.

Indeed, it also happened in a match between Anderlecht and La Louviere (Belgium).
The ball exploded on his way to the goal.
The referee didn't see it and the goal was approved. Very strange.
When a ball is defect, it should be replaced asap. But not in Belgium

Wow. I've never seen one in such a big league game. I guess Adidas has to rethink the whole glued up balls.

I always found it very weird that a ball was glued instead of sewd.
All previous balls of Adidas were stiched. There were no significant problems with balls exploding. Sometimes an air-valve leaked but nothing else.
I think they will have to get back to the normal ball design: stiching instead of glueing.

It shouldn't really happen. This is one of the reason why you should by Nike balls instead of Adidas ones.

Yeh I agree, it is ridiculous....
When they are charging £55+ for a ball you would expect it to be good quality glueing(sp.) at least. You can buy stitched ones (might not explode) for a third of the price and supposedly a third of the quality.

Ah, I've just watched the game and if you actually watch what happens, the ball gets hit very hard and it strikes the bottom of someone's boot (who is wearing normal studs) so it would be the stud popping the ball. That could have happened with any ball.
And as for the guy saying this is a reason to buy Nike over Adidas, get a grip. As I said above this could have happened to any ball, and I've already said in this thread I've seen trouble with Mitre and Nike balls in games this season.

The Finale ball isn't glued together like the Roteiro. So, that's not the problem. I agree with Metropolis,.

I don't think glue or stitching affects a ball's suceptability to being punctured.

Actually it is. Starting in 2004 all Adidas professional match balls utilized their new technology.

That ball is the cheaper replica, that's why it's stitched not glued. If what rhetorical said is true then they would most probably use glue only on the top range footballs rather than the cheap replica's.....

And just this second in the Tottenham vs. Fulham match they've had to change the ball because it went flat (one of the Nike yellow ones).
