hey all, sumthing has really been troubleing me lately. See the problem is that I have worn three adidas cleats in the past year(supernovas, pulsions, and pulses) and they all have given me an aching like pain in the front of my leg(shin area). I have looked into it thinking it was a stress fracture or shin splints, but that wasn't the case. Now the three cleats I have worn are similar in design, but I was thinking it was the split bottom, my dad thought it was the narrow heel. So I was wondering if anybody has had this problem? Maybe a boot type like the F50+ would be better? aNy help is apprciated.

see your doc.. cuz if u do alot of jumping u can get shin splints if there isnt enough cushioning. i used to get them in basketball, and THEY ARE NOT FUN AT ALL..
so see your doctor, or try wearing a gelly cup for ur heel

i cant remember what its called but my friend has a probelm down his legs which feels like shin splints but it is actually his muscles and ligaments stretching, but they dont stretch enough so it causes tightness..

So why were my shins hurting with those adidas cleats, was it just coincidence? Could it be the split bottoms that adidas cleats have don't support the low arch that I have?

Jelly Cups are soo comfortable I use to wear them when I had problems with my heels are I played but the Jelly cup would probably help a lot.

I'd say its something to do with your leg muscles. Your whole spine would ache if the heel was the point. The split sole probably isn't it because it still has the support bar with keeps the arch from over-extending, which you would feel on the sole of your foot anyway. I'm betting its your shin-area, try warming-up and stretching for longer periods of time, especially your calf, knees, and shin muscles.

you have osgood schlatters i would imagine
Its to do with your growth plates in the back of the ankle and front of knee.
If it is in front of or near the ankle then you might have severs which could lead 2 shin splints. Osgoods is where the quad is not strong enough due to increased growth and the muscle over the knee is stretched over the tendon putting pressure on the tendon. This is jus below the knee cap. Ice for 20mins to get rid of the swelling. Ice when pain occurs and rest. Mad Mike i person think you should ask your doctor to refer you 2 a physiopherapist. Keep icing your knees. Maybe the achilles support is shifting the pain to the front but i dont think the boot is affecting it
