Which sports do you feel deserve more attention? Which sports should get more TV coverage, or which sports should people be playing more?

For me, ping pong and badmingtom comes to mind. The pro's play it incredibly fast and it is very exciting.

Another sport that comes to mind is takraw, which I learned about from watching some world sport show. Its pretty much soccer vollyball or vollyball only played with feet that is played mostly in Thailand and Maylaysia. Takraw is awesome to watch, people 'spike' the ball by doing bycicle or scissor kicks.

Here is a little link if you wanna learn more about takraw.

Is ping pong the same thing as table tennis (the one, where the players are so far away from the table and are just rapidly hitting the ball back with that paddle..right?) or am I thinking of something else? And yes, badminton also comes to my mind, but only because I find it fun to play, I haven't watched any actual pro games.

yeah i love ping pong, its very under-rated, probably because it isnt that popular in the US and Europe, East Asian people play it a lot though.

btw do you know it is considered the second most brutal sport(officially).

Yes ping pong is table tennis.

Here is a link to a German site that has a real vid of Sepak Takraw.

sepak takraw link

The beginning of the vid explains the history of sepak takraw. If you wait towards the end, it shows how the game is currently played. Recommend that you should check it out.

Has to be cricket, it's a fantastic sport.

I think the people that brand it boring don't understand the game at all.

^I understand it, my dad used to play a lot too before we moved to Canada, and he still watches it on Mondays, sometimes I watch with him, or he plays the commentary on that cricinfo website, but I still find it a bit boring to watch. shrug03.gif
I got to play that in Phys Ed in year 10 though, and although I sucked so bad, it wasn't too bad to play, but obviously wasn't my favorite.

How about water polo ?

Cricket well i guess could be one as its not played by many countries but probably is the most challenging game mentally.

Table Tennis is quite popular in Asia as is Badminton but i guess they are quite underrated.

Another sport which is underrated is Hockey.
Dingo.

i think Tiddlywinks is underrated laugh.gif laugh.gif

It may be underrated where you are, but not in Canada. It's an okay sport in my opinion.
I don't think track and field is extremely underrated, but I think events like long jump, javelin, etc, are. Especially when you watch it on tv, because they always have to focus on the races and barely on the field events sad.gif

I agree, hockey is a bit underrated. Im from the US, few people miss the NHL. It is an entertaining sport to watch even if you are just watching casually. However, I think the fighting that commonly takes place in NHL kinda ruined the game in a bit (not that I dont enjoy to watch the brawls), its just casual fans expect to see a fight to consider it to be entertaining. Its like people watching Nascar for the crashes.

^..or people watching surfing just for the wipeouts. (which I don't really consider to be a sport by the way, but whatever.)

I didn't know hockey was that underrated in the US, I always thought it was as popular as American Football, I guess not though.

I like cycling when they're inside on that round, bowl-like track.. umm.. thing.
Also, I think speedskating is underrated, and add short track speed skating to that list too. It's so much fun to do, but I've barely seen it on TV, besides the Winter Olympics of course.

Football in Australia ... well, it is the truth.

Other than football ... ice skating comes to mind ... not that I'd watch it, but then I guess if it was on I might smile.gif
