You guys who think CR7 is better then R9 either haven't seen R9 play or for some reason think hes to old or injured, hes not injured anymore and watch him play this season. CR7 is great, but dont compare him to R9 just yet..... They play different positions anyway....

I think he is too old personally. Yes I know he can do amazing things but I doubt that he will start for Brazil in 06 WC. This is my personal opinion. Also, like I have said in other threads, Ronaldo barely passed his fitness test last year. I am not sure about this year. I am not ripping Ronaldo in anyway shape or form. This is just my opinion it is his time to go. Great player and so many people will fail to repeat his greatness.

Personally, i dont rate R9. Hes terribly lazy and usually just a finisher...............i guess thats his job though.

I like players who make stuff for them selves or set up others. CR7 does that and hes an exciting talent (a bit fruity in the head though if you know what i mean...

) so id perfer him. Ronaldo is too old and past it also.

That said TH14 would be best.
Also whats it matter how many wc's and premierships you've won? What if you're and awesome player and just in a shit team or your national side's crap or whatevs?

Maybe because ALEX FERGUESON is manager- maybe you should ask him

But I think TH14 would work better tbh

man, i can't believe C. Ronaldo gets as much praise as he does. For me he's one of the most hyped-up players out there, and I'm a Man U fan for life! Nothing he's done so far impresses me. I hate how he's a WINGER that passes WAY too little and shoots way too much (numbers don't lie man, he's had two goals in the EPL this season, compared to oh... 10000000000 shots taken, most at points where passes would have been no-brainers). At least Park (who no one would rate as highly as c.Ronaldo) understands that Man U is built on its ball movement and works DAMN hard to get the team's passing game in form. And also, check out his performances in the Champions League this and last year. Absolutely embarassing, in my opinion (esp. in the games against Milan last year and all this year). R9 in turn has proven himself again and again, and though he may not be as good as he was 2/3 years ago, he's still a Beast in the Box. ANYWHERE inside the box, and he'll still be in the top 4 or so for strikers chosen by anyone to finish the job.
so no, I wouldn't agree with a CR7 vapor, though it'll probably be done because C. Ronaldo is Nike's silverboy (gold goes to Ronaldinho). TH14 would be cool, but he just doesn't have as much marketability as C. Ronaldo, less personality, and he actually does his job well instead of concentrating on flashiness.

HEHE i agree saw C.Ronaldo play for real on tues when i went Highbury and theres no way he is as good as some people make out, yes he scares the shit out of you when he gets the ball but i mean he couldnt take Cygan and i wouldnt dream of even thinking R9 couldnt take on Cygan.
R9 all the way

Still hate the stupid sign thing tho prefer the Nike Swoosh instead.

Neither Thierry Henry or C.Ronaldo are qualified to have their own boots. They both are good players and all but they are no where near Ronaldo's stature. But if Nike was to change it would be A9 for Adriano because he is the next great brazilian striker.

Interesting but Acedemic tracksuits use that A9 so its probably Copyrited.

What is Adriano's number for Brazil? Isn't it #7 so it would be R7. I think Real Madrid's Ronaldo is nowhere near the player he was a few years ago, maybe why Real are struggling to score alot. I think if Nike brought out a new one it should be TH14 maybe in a few years it will be CR7 but he is to young to have his own now.

No way!
Ronaldo has won various personalawards aswell as team awards like the WC. He scored two goals in the WC final! But yes, I do think he is starting to wane.
CR7 is a pre-madonna who can do a few tricks and sometimes finish off a movement. Sure, its fun to watch him, and he will be a great player one day, but certainly not now. He is not yet an icon.
TH14 is the only player who I think deserves that.

I think after Ronaldo goes, it should just be straight swooshes, or maybe Adriano, because he seems to be the only one who can replace Ronaldo.

i am sure Adriano will wear #9 when ronaldo is gone cause he wore #9 in the Confederations Cup when Ronaldo wasn't there but yea his usual # is 7.

Because he is a very popular name, and is a big Nike icon...like he did the racism campaign.
Henry has been great for years, and has been top scorer for seasons in a row.
Nike want an instantly recognisable name.
Ask someone that doesn't know much about footy who either is, and i'm pretty sure more people will know who Thierry is.

i thought thierry henry is gonna have his own vapors after the world cup, the red MVIII
C.R. is having awful form lately, but he is popular so that's good for marketing. I agree with the guy above though. Adriano would be a better candidate for Vapors. R9 is past........... watch the WC06, it will be the Adriano show. Hell, Robinho may even take R9's spot at some point. And dont forget R.Oliveira and D.Carvalho, who will be fighting for a place.

what about ronaldinho...i guess he got his fiar share with the golden boot thing..but i guess TH14 would be a good one as welll...not CR7 thatd be weird
Ronaldinho is already THE man for Legends......... wouldnt be rite to suddenly switch to Vapors

i do think that Henry def deserves his own vapor, not only is he an awesome player with at least some brand name recognition, but his actual playing style suits the whole "philosophy" of vapors (speed, etc). On nikesoccer.com, he's Mr. Vapor already. Adriano has a somewhat different style (more on strength/power) but that's fine, I agree that he should get a shoe, but perhaps not right now. maybe after he performs at WC 06 (though my guess is it'll be the Kaka-Ronaldinho show, not the Adriano one). If Nike's smart though, they need to pick a figurehead that'll cater more to the Asian market, where the biggest sales growth is happening (look at Adidas' David Beckham campaigns: Dragon and Ying Yang. David Beckham was chosen because he's more of a pop icon than anyone else in football and the Asian market is very receptive to that). Any suggestions for this?
I see your points and I like Henry but he is crap right now. And im not convinced he can light up the WC either......
About the asian market, i think Nakamura has a shot, but he is already signed by Adidas. Park wears Vapors, but he's not exactly a looker aint he

the only guy I have in mind that fits the criteria, is Park Chu Young, he has amazing potential and is very young, and has pop idol status in Korea. He needs that European move to further his career, and if he succeeds, i am certain he can beat the likes of Park, Naka, Lee, Nakata, etc in terms of marketability (sp?).

i agree that henry would be a good candidate with all his awards but until he makes a bigger difference in the international games, he won't get a boot. also i think he isn't very popular when comparing players who already hav shoes. i mean japan made a statue in honor of beckham and ronaldo has been loved 4 da past decade.
i guess some great players just won't get their own boots like zidane who is a guy who deserved one b4 beckham. i think zlatan is a player that nike can make a specialty shoe 4 because they can build off his "bad ass" attitude but after he wins sum more awards n makes his name known.

TH14 wouldn't be bad, but isn't he no 12 for france?
With Robinho currently being the main feature on nikefootball, I think that it telling us something. They should drop the numbers and call his boot the robinshow vapour
