this is just a post to let everyone know that other boots do exist other than the vapors...and legends.

the top 12 threads in here are all vapor-related and it's a little sad to see the state of the game in this condition.

so many other companies have existed far longer than nike, and have known the sport of football for decades longer. so many people ask for help on deciding on a pair of boots but they limit their choices to two models, both from a company with a short past. granted your favorite players may wear the boots, but they are also PROfessionals. wearing a certain boot cannot make you play like a drogba, or a ronaldinho gaucho, what matters most is YOUR skill level, determination, and love for the game.
this isn't necessarily meant to be an attack, but more a bit of advice for those looking for new boots. You will never be exactly like c. ronaldo just for wearing the same footwear, but to be honest, if rocking those boots gives you the confidence and mental edge, then by all means, go for it.
I've been fortunate enough to play the game on multiple continents for over 15 years, and i'll tell you some of the best players i've played against didn't have the flashiest gear (in fact a lot of them wore 4+ year old copas held together by tape, haha), or try to mimick any stars our there. they all played their OWN game to the best of their ability.

so yes, if something gives you the best mental edge- stick with it, but realize that there will never be another Pele, Beckenbauer, Zizou, Maradona, Ronaldo, Platini, Cruyff, Cubillas (none of which wore vapors..most wore pumas or adidas actually- i digress). what matters most is YOU, and how you develop not just your game, but the game of sport on the whole. don't be afraid to try something different....and at least stop cluttering the board with 30 messages about the same boot. hump.gif

whether this gets a warning or not, i just felt that some sort of a reminder needed to be put out there, for the good of the game. thumbsup.gif

True I'm definately with you. People are so high on their Vapors sayin ghow they are the best boots ever and all this shit. Just because a bunch of pros wear them like Henry and CR7 they think that they will be as good as them or something. Hey guess what? Cleats don't make you any better.

First of all, VERY GOOD POST! cheers1.gif

I agree that this stuff needs to stop. I have owned about 45 pairs of shoes (I just like shoes), they are from many different brands, and have noticed some things. Right now I wear the Adidas F-50, Predator Pulse, Puma Exec, Umbro xai, and the Nike T90II. Note to those who actually read the entire post: I have about 6 pairs of vapors that I used to wear but now have better feeling shoes. People need to stop asking," Hey help me choose a new pair of boots." First of all don't just say, "Name some shoes I should get." Atleast you could take some steps as to not clutter this forum with the same stupid shit again and again!

1. Try on a ton of shoes at stores everywhere. Learn what generally fits you. Note: just because you have wide feet does not mean that you can't try on non-wide lasted shoes; all shoes will mold to your feet to some extent.
2. Do not just shop for a specific brand unless you are so paronoid about things being made in china or whatever.
3. When you narrow your choices down write them on paper and see what the price is and if they are easily availible to you through a retailer or the net.
4. Make a note of price (important for most people), the materials, and other things that you find interesting or problematic.
5.Decide on only two or three different pairs and then come here and do a SEARCH for threads about: durability, flaws, cleaning, etc., and etc. I gaurantee that you will find a thread on almost every shoe except pumas, hummels, and other non "fad" brands.
6. Okay so now that you have narrowed it down, searched for info and stuff now you can do one of two things; Buy the shoes without making a thread or something (for some reason the nonpopular thing to do, or make a thread with a purpose of asking a question involving something a little more mind tingling then," Do legends really give you touch, touch, touch like the advertisement nazi's say?!"
7. So now that you got your shoes or your thread going just wait for the intelligent replys to roll in.... This may take forever in this forum. rolleyes.gif When they do they will usually lead you in the right direction, granted you took them with a grain of salt.
8. Now the moment of truth, you got the shoes today, whether in the mail or at the store, and you are trying them out. Hopefully you will have made the right choice.
9. But wait your not done yet. Now when others make threads you can reply intelligently by saying something more then,"Vapors Pz0wnz 73h 2h032!" You can now actually contribute to the thread and not clutter all of these damn things with, "These are the best cause nike says ronaldinho says that they give you touch, touch, touch."
10. You will become the hit with all your friends and they will go,"Wow you really know how to direct someone to this guys post." laugh.gif

Hopefully thoose that can read and have the attention span to do so, will now make smart decisions and think about what they are doing when they say stupid stuff like that. If you don't get it yet: NO ONE WANTS TO READ 12 THREADS IN A ROW THAT SAY THE EXACT SAME THING WITH THE EXACT SAME SHOW! ranting.gif Can you hear and understand me now?

And as for you getting warned; Forget about being warned cause if they can post what they post in here your post looks like a post from heaven. thumbsup.gif
If anyone gets ban let it be the dummies that only watch the advertisements and games and then go out and buy those shoes.

I will be here till thursday. PEACE!

You will never get a warning from me, for posting your own personal views. I felt it was a diplomatic post and one which is probabley true. Everyone has their own views and its a fact people are influenced by marketing. I look forward to hearing more frm you, remmeber if you keep it clean you can say what you want.
thanks for the post

he should just get a warniung for supporting cobi jones jk jk anyways its peoples choice to discuss the boot that they like we cant change that

For sure i agree with you in principal but the reality is that the Sheep Theory sets in and everyone will talk about and buy whats popular. Sad but true. On loads of threads ive been advising people to buy the boots that fit them best etc but get overwhelmed by the people saying "Nooooooooo! Get vapors! Theyre the best" etc
I mean, its kinda annoying but i dont see what can be done about it. Its then even more annoying when people come on and say "Ow my boots hurt my feet theyre no good!" which is also kinda hillarious cause its just soooooo ironic. laugh.gif Really youre only doing yourself harm and wasting money by buying the boots that are most pop or look best!

great post...good to see other members that havnt got sucked into the vapors only frame of mind(just an example)...there are so many great boots out ther...personally it takes me a good 2 weeks of like reaserch u could say -reading reviews, tryin on boots, looking at all the different kinds of boots- before i actually buy a pair...but i guess the fact that im so into soccer gear helps me out on that too cuz i actually enjoy reading reviews and all that on boots.

You da man. I find it funny when i hear people saying "These boots (usually vapors) give me massive blisters, but i love them because they are soooo light and they come in a chrome colour!" And as an ex-vapor user my self, I personally now dislike the vapour, even though they look nice, most boots out there are better then them.

Now i use copas. And i hope i will never find another boot.

hey b3ans i think im gonna be excactly where u are next season...personally i love my vapors but im planning on buy copa's next season and thats about 90% that i wont change my mind...and u cant go wront with copa's!
Romeo371M
i mean all different boots do is feel different on ur feet. whether they feel better or worse is up to ur foot shape. they are NOT going to make u play better because they IMPROVE u. they can only affect ur game is they are like uncomfortable, meaning u'll play worse. and as for those "What boots should i get this season" im REALLY starting to lose it. there most be 4 or 5 on the first page of the boot room RIGHT NOW! what u want to look for in a boot is that it feels comfortbale, and u don't risk doing any damage to urself. THATS what will make u play better, not the actual boot. for some poeple, to find the perfect fit takes a pair of $50 low end nikes, others only pulses help them get that nice feeling. get boots because they are RIGHT for u, not cuz other people say they are great, cuz they MIGHT be great for them, but that doesn't mean that they can't HORRIBLE for U!

I know what you mean, hey. I get obsessed and start looking everywhere for deals and trying on everything i can find. The difference is that i usually take months to get around to making a decision! laugh.gif

offtopic2.gif Its nice to see a topic where sensible people discuss sensible, logical things in a reasonble way. As romeo said its a pain in the as to go onto the forum and read 5 stupid topics that are all the same thing.. rolleyes.gif
b3ans
haha, im obesessed with boots too, but I only purchase brand new high end models rarely. I buy my mates old boots (xai 3s for $50nz), a pair of random boots at the ware-house (NZ equivilant of wall-mart/K-mart?) and i might purchase a pair of the Brazilian brand Penalty from my mate at my football club who is the NZ representative of Penalty for a noice cheap price! Lol i like to have low end random brands to muck around with at unimportant muck around trainings or on the lawn that i can throw on and use.

My name is Ken and i have an obsession with low end boots...

lol
