hey, what do you guys/girls do the day before a match, i have a match tommorow in the mens team (first time), so just wanted to get some ideas on what you do,
Personally i just laze around and try not to do anything that could use energy, and also have an early night, what about you?
Cheers

Lol dont go out and drink at the evening like me before of the last match

that sucks. I was out after 30 min's. but you should use some energy to warm up.
well you should get your head clear.
practice a bit arround and dont get nervous, thats where im bad in... Im too nervous in every game so I mess it up, all the time.
well... if someone knows a good way to handle that, tell me. at the trainings im one of the best and on the pitch... Its like I forgot everything that I learned, but im still good. I just dont do all the stuff I could do.

I try to flirt with the prettiest girl around and motivate myself hard to play well and impress her.
Is that ok?

it doesn't really matter to me what i do the day before the match. i do whatever i want or have planned, it doesn't really matter to me.
but right before a match it's the usual. warm up, stretch, take a piss, show off to the crowd with some freestyle moves.

This is wat i do.I change into my uniform or my warm up suit. Then I warm up while listening to music,I listen to rap mostly Tupac and Immortal Technique. After I warm up I stretch, and after that Iget a ball and kick it around, juggle,or freestyle by myself that always helps to calm me down and gets me focused on the game. After that I look up at the sky(yes like Ronaldinho does)and i pray to god and I think on wat i have to do,and how i am going to do it.Dont get nervous just remember its something u love and u shouldnt be nervous.Have fun and give it ur all.So thats wat i do and it always works for me.
Hope that helped

Day before I sit around and relax.
The day of my match, I bump some 2pac in my head phones to get me pumped up. Make sure I stretch real well, and warm up nicely. It's all about staying calm, if you get nervous, you're not going to play as good as you should.

thats my problem. I would be a great dribbler, I have talent and all, I show that in trainings but on games I get stuck with my nervousity, its not only in soccer, its everywhere. I think I have to go to a therapeut to fix it... damn

Man I know how u feel.I used to have that same problem.Wat u need to do is before the games listen to music and juggle and freestyle with the ball.So u can get comfortable and befriend the ball.Remember u control ur destiny ur the only that can play the way u wana play.Just go out there have fun, give it all u got.Dont worry wat the coach or the players might say just play ur game.If ur afraid to make mistakes dont even trip mistakes hapen and mistakes help u become a much better player cuz u learn from those mistakes. So never feel nervous tell urself u r the est at wat u do and no one can stop u.
I hope I helped

even if this is an old thread, I wanna say that I mastered my problems and I was signed by fc vaduz for their 2nd team (their first plays in the 2nd swiss league). well what have I done? I get sleep before a game, my head clear and maybe smoke a little joint in the night before the game (sounds crazy but gets me really cooled down). I see now every game as a game for fun and play like i would be playing with friends.
I also changed positions from winger to supporting striker.
I was at the psychologue and he told me my problem was self confidence which I now got after some really nice performances (I scored once and came close to a 2nd chipover in my first appearance...) and I got myself a new, much better job now.

yeah i find it a bit dodgy as well, i dont think a professional footballer would do that to his body if he was really serious about playing..

if you dont exagerate it its better than alcohol mate. some players also heavy smoke. if your not on ot all the time it has no problem.
btw: this is an amateur team, but a pretty good one, so nothing professional there.

Amatuer team.. FC Vaduz? who play in the swiss professional leagues?
are they considered an amatuer team even though they play in the swiss 2nd division?

Yes i used to drink and smoke the night before a game.. trust me its not good you wake up witha cloudy head and half your determination is shot.
One of my mates even smoked a joint before the game for some reason and he had one of the worst games of his life.
I put 2 through balls through and one he intercepted when it was intended for the other guy and the other he played a really bad one2 for me who would ahve been through but the opposition intercepted it.
I dont condone smoking and drinking (i do it so i would be a hypocrite) definately not anywhere near match day.

I'll have a proper meal a few hours before then kill the time however possible, i just concentrate and before I leave for the game i'll watch some soccer clips, my favourite moments etc just to get me into it (usually Owen against arsenal Fa cup or CL Final

)

Yeah, me to. Sometimes i beat so many players on the other team so they cant play and we win on walkover. Works great for me. Onetime i beated 9 players at the same time, it made us win 2-0 on walkover and I was the hero on our team.

The night before a match, i usually go to bed kinda early. The next day, load up on carbs, and just remind yourself of all the good things that you can do on the field. Just remember all the good things that you have done in the past.

The night before when I'm laying in bed I picture myself doing all of these amazing moves and totally destroying the other team, and continue to do that the next day before the game. (Mental preparation is huge if you didn't know that)
Once I get to the game I look around for any attractive girls, and if there aren't any I pretend one is there. That really motivates me to play well, don't know why.
Then I say a quick prayer and start the game.

I don't think about it the night before. I do whatever I feel like doing.
Then on matchday, I travel alone primarily so I can get my own space to focus and not a word is uttered to anyone I see until after the match begins.
Then when warmup begins before the match I don't touch the ball to get a feel for it like others do. This is because I have the utmost confidence in my ability and also to give the crowd a sense of anticipation.
I find my own space on the pitch a little away from my team mates and they let me get on with it because they know my track record speaks for itself.
Thats my preparation.
Then when the game begins I dictate the play, I'm a crowd pleaser and above all it's my name on the assists and it's my name on the goals sheet.
I'm still waiting for that one bad game, where I haven't performed, it's been too long.

Just before a game I usually get into the mood and focus on the game, then I will listen to some music to get me pumped up then I will kick a ball around with the rest of the team inside the changing room (Brazil

) untill we get onto the pitch. A lil' ritual I have is to always wear my Nike T90 Sleeveless Tee underneath my shirt and to put my right boot on first.

The team i play for isnt professional or anything, but as 8 of our players have been at the club for 11 years now we have built up a massive fan base. We have about 70-100 people at each game watching us and if im not prepared properly this can really put me off as im quite a shy person. To battle this i go out before i get changed and talk to the fans (girlfriends, mums, sisters, brothers, mates etc) this relaxes me as i have already spoken to them before we kick off. After ive settled my nerves I pump myself up by listening to a bit of music on my mp3 (Alterbridge- Edges theme) and then get changed, i do everything on my right side first (right boot on, right sock on, right shinpad on etc) We have our team talk then I lead the lads out onto the pitch, we do our warm up and then i talk to my dad (manager) until we kick off.....
