bananas give u a slow energy release and are good before games. try to stick to carbs like toast but cereal lies in your stomach so avoid that. dont eat after 3 hours before the game.

Eat about an hour to an hour and a half before the game, something high in carbohydrates. For breakfast I have brown bread toasted and bran flakes and banana. Then have an energy drink before kick-off.

I wouldn't recommend an energy drink. They give you a short high, like a sugar rush. Not for 90 minutes methinks.
If it's a late game, eat pasta or something high in carbs for lunch. Unless you're on the Atkin's diet.

Avoid fatty foods, fruit is good.
DO NOT DRINK COKE, PEPSI, POP, FIZZ, SODA, ETC.
And try not to play on a full stomach or a completely empty stomach for that matter. Try to balance it out.

I heard that it is bad to drink milk before games because it makes you throw up. Is that true?

milk is terrible before games, because it sits in your stomach... only drink water before games... and only eat carbs before games... dont eat any lettuce or any proteins... and also about 10 minutes before a game if you are still hungry then eat a bite or 2 bites of an energy bar... and also energy drinks are terrible before games because its all caffine, and its like drinking a couple sodas

Energy drinks like Lucozade sport or Powerade don't contain any caffeine I believe. Water is probably best just before kick off but I like to drink an energy drink, they do work and give you a little boost.

Well, I didn't know by energy drink you meant Powerade. I thought you were talking about stuff like Red Bull "It gives you wings!"

Jul 23 2004, 11:11 AM
lol no, I would think Red Bull might be the worst drink, bar a pint of bitter, you could take before a game lol.

meal: Pasta, no protein.. so your looking for spaghetti with no meat in teh sauce or meat balls.
drink, water does teh trick. if you feel a bit tired after the fiirst half, something like powerade, gatorade, etc, but dont rely on it.it works, but like anything it works for those that arent hell bent on it.
after game:
Beer and a mcflurry.

Energy drinks are good before and after games, but during matches, it's all water.

can somebody tell me why not meat before a game??? a bit of BS imo
eat at least 3 hrs before a game, like they said complex carbs...whole wheat/multigrain, lots of water, but don't drink to the point your electrolytes are imbalanced....

the reason you dont eat meat is because it has proteins in it and they will slow you down during activity... only after a workout or game do you need protein

simple bud.. protein build up and lactic acid (found as a by product of drinking milk) give ya cramps, and weigh you down.

I've heard that spagetti is good to eat before a game.
At PSV_#3, do you know something about the quality of the new PSV forward Beasley since he's from America?
