who here like to play pool? what do you like, 8 ball or 9 ball? are ya ne good? ever win some money on it? do you have your own table?
ManCitySpark
Well, I do not have m own table, but the laundromat my friend owns, has one, and I play there regularly, and I love it. I cannot really say I am good, but I enjoy it. I have never won any money on it. I prefer 8 ball, just because that is one of my favorite numbers.

PS: Can anyone explain how snooker is different from pool?
Mancunian Red
There are lots of different rules in snooker.

Firstly the table is 12ft by 6ft so the potting is so much more difficult.

Also a player has to pot a red then a colour. The colours have different values Yellow 2 points Green 3 Brown 4 Blue 5 Pink 6 and Black 7. When a player pots a red the red stays down but when he/she pots a colour it is replaced on its spot. When all the reds are gone the player must pot all the colours starting with the smallest value - yellow 2 points to the last the black 7 points.

Much more skill is required to be a very good snooker player. control of the white ball through the use of side, screw, top stun etc are very important skills as is safety play.

Thank you for explaining, I saw a snooker table when I was little, and saw a pool table right next to it, therefore the snooker table seemed huge in size comparison. Sounds like a good game though, will have to try it sometime myself!

i gonna get a job and the first think i will get is either a pool stick and table or some rims on the car..........i am not good at all but always play

pool is quite a good game. I use to play almost everyday but I stopped recently I haven't gotten the chance to play in the past two months or so.
The most money I've won is $25 playing straight pool(I guess that's the name since I didn't play 8 ball).

good stuff. i always go looking to win some money off some newbs but they always see the way i play and say no when i ask to play for money tongue.gif

btw i love 9 ball. i can completely dominate in 8 ball but i hate the fact that if i foul on the 8 ball i lose cuz that sometimes gets to me.

both 8 and 9 ball are fun...i prefer 9 ball in competetive games tho. i actually just bought a pool stick last week, and used it once. heres a good site for beginners wanting to get better: http://www.engr.colostate.edu/~dga/pool/no...deos/index.html

i love the pub game - "killer"...

8 ball pool... everyone who wants in pays £1 (makes the prize fund like £30)... you get 3 lives, person who breaks (if a ball doesnt go down) gets another turn. if a ball goes down its the next person, he can pot ANY ball on the table (but if you pot the black ball you gotta pay the 50p for the balls to come out of the table next game tongue.gif)... and its the last person standing who takes home the £30... great game, even better if you win tongue.gif

obviously you can be a prick, if NOTHING is on you can just play a sly shot so your oppenent next can't pot anything... if your gonna lose a life, you might aswell take one off the other person, same works for if you can pot a ball.. put it safe obviously (this is why the better pool players 'normally' win but i've seen some upsets in my time)

yeah i used to play pool.
but now its all snooker.
i have my own pool table at home too but i dont play, since it screws up ur snooker (different table size and different angles)
i've also got a pic of me holding my snooker cue at home which i've uploaded.
anybody else play snooker?
