I don't feel so disloyal now. I'm backing Arsenal for the win tomorrow too. I figure now is the best time to rock the filthy rich behemoth that is Chelsea and send them on a bad streak. Arsenal are more likely to drop points during the season anyway.
Great idea for a thread btw. Cheers.

Yep. What happened after the last time Arsenal visited Old Trafford will hopefully happen to Chelsea tommorow.
Few reds cards would'nt go amiss as well. Not unlikely either, refs have been handing them out like birthday cards at the minute.

Ya know whats cooler, is that he (Macari), seems to come from nowhere before he posts. I never see him coming. What I mean is, at the bottom of each forum, there is the users online list, and whenever he posts something, I don't see him there

Pretty spontaneous!

I am going for Arsenal all the way! Anything to wipe that smug little grin off the Chelsea players faces.
My Arsenal supporting mate thinks I have lost it as I was telling her I was going for Arsenal - I told he not to get me wrong, I still loathe her team with a great passion, I just loathe Chelsea and thier cockiness that bit more right now. I am feeling great about the game (think it will be a close one and not expceting Arsenal to win - draw will do me), my mate on the otherhand seems to think her world is going to end ... some people and their faith in the teams they support
EPL Preview Show said that Arsenal have not lost at Stamford Bridge for 10 years - at least I think that's waht they told me, I wasn't paying that much attention. Either way, they have a decent record there, so it should be a good game. I'm going to sleep through it, but finding out the score will be the first thing I do in the morning.

I'd rather it be a scoreless tie....just because. Ideally, I prefer Chelski's best lineup to lose to the likes of Sunderland, West Ham, and West Brom, etc. Unlikely, but still. But if Arsenal takes them down now then good on ya Arse! Meh, whatever happens, happens.

I dont really mind who wins or if its a draw, cos we'll be up on one of our rivals, and although everyone hates chelsea, i think there manager is ok, he gets along with SAF. Wenger just gets on my nerves with his constant rantings about fouls and reyes being injured for years cos gary touched him, and how he never see's nothing. I just dont want either team to have a confidence boost by beating the other, cos that could spark something.

Yeah I'll have whatever they're having [points to assorted mix of United fans]
As for the Arsenal-Chelsea game, I'd go for either an Arsenal win or a draw, with, as you said, a few red cards thrown into the mix. At this stage in the season, a Chelsea loss, especially with all this talk about rotation swirling around them at the moment, would be a big test.

Absolute dour shite game of football.
Two minorly entertaining things in 45 minutes:
1-Ljungberg going off.
2-SWP. He could be playing if he'd chosen Arsenal. As it is he's the world's most expensive bench warmer.
Why is it in these big games we're the only side who goes hell for leather?
We ought to buy Duff.

Yup. It's the WC year. All Chelski's internationals are going to want to play 90 minutes every week. If anything is going to unravel them this year, it's that. I sense an implosion.
Not yet though. 1-0 Chelsea. Fuck. And shit-snake Drogba to boot...

To add to this. I heard Mourinho say that he would let a plyer go that didn't want to stay at the club. He added that he liked all his players and wanted them to sta, but if they wanted to go, then he would let them.
We should go and suck up to their benchwarmers despite what Mourinho says about not selling them to clubs like ours. There is no way that they can all be happy to sit there and do jack crap - yes, they get paid a shit load to do jack crap, but it cannot be good for them.

They are crying out for two decent centre backs and then they go and sign Baptista and Robinho.

To be fair....He was awful last season and I suppose they thought they would cut their losses. They could have signed that lad Milito a couple of years ago and said he "failed a medical" or something to that extent. Jaap also apparently rejected them twice.
Their buying policy has become ridiculas. I didn't watch them so much towards the end of last season but Graveson really tighten them up and they where playing some nice football.
Baptista may drop into the holding midfield role? Or does anyone reckon will play up front?

According to the Spanish pundit on Sky News Sport and Talksport he said that they were after an attacking midfielder and the choice was between Ballack and Baptista, with Ballack unwilling to make a decision they went for Baptista.

To use an old cliche, you don't become a bad player overnight. I bet he'll have another fantastic season in Italy, will come back to Real from his loan and struggle again to settle. I think if they'd kept him this season their defensive problems would be sorted out, last season was probably just a settling in period. Him and Woodgate with Geavesen sitting in front is pretty strong.
In other news,
http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.a...l=football_homeShame he had so many injuries, he was a great back-up player in his first season and the competition down the left flank brought out the best in Giggsy.

I never really rated him, always came across as a sort of sol campbell bull in a china shop type defender, pretty reckless, gave away penalties and got sent off a lot. I thought roma had done pretty good business there, after all they got in mexes and ferrari. Although mexes likes the red cards too. They do need 1 class centre though, think they have an option on ramos from seville, quite highly rated.

Yeah that is a shame. That lad was pure class. He tore us apart in 94 when we went down 3-1 in Gothenberg.
With regards to Samuel, I have always thought he was a decent player but not in the class of Madrid. I didn't know he went on loan....Has Figo also or have they bought Figo?
Speaking of Mexes in the above post. Remember the link with us a year ago? How true was that? I heard he chose Roma over us and he was subject to a £10 Million bid........That would have been some summer spending!

Nah I was wrong, I just looked it up and Samuel has signed a four year deal:
http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/08/01/sports/WORLD.phpAnd Figo on a two year deal:
http://www.tribalfootball.com/august/spanishnews1070805.htmlWhat is it with Inter and unwated Real players, Cambiasso, Solari etc.
We bid for Mexes the amount you said but the agent turned it down because he didn't think his player would be a regular, and he eventually joined Roma for less than we offered. We had tracked him for about four years before he joined Roma. You remember the story that Sir Alex sent him a United shirt with Mexes on the back?
