Ask your cable provider for GOLTV and every weekend I can guarantee you'll see 3 La Liga games, USUALLY Real Madrid games and Barcelona games.
zzraul5
Gol TV Gol TV Gol TV...I would be nowhere without it.

You'll see 95% of Madrid's La Liga game, plus you can watch other great Liga, Seria A, Brazilian, and South American games.

If you can't get that, then try buying that thing on Madrid's website. I hear you can watch the live games and practices.
The_Real_Deal
I had asked my cable operator for GolTv .they said they dont have it . sad.gif

Has Real Madrid tv made an entry into the American market ?

And what abt the ultimate fanzone in the Real Madrid website ?

does that show Real Madrid matches ?

Nando.
The fanzone doesnt show live matches. Just some highlights.
PPUnited17
if u cant get cable u might wanna try pplive or coolstreaming. pplive has goaltv 1 and 2 and cctv and other channels like espn. i use pplive as i dont have any other choice and i need to see the whites in action.

I live in New York. Before I had time warner cable and that only had fox soccer channel. If you want GOLTV and Setanta Sports (which also plays CL games), get direct TV and buy the sports package for about 10 dollars extra a month. You also get alot of college sports channels and other stuff which is nice.
The_Real_Deal
Thanks for the help , guys .Very ver useful info actually .

BTW one doubt regarding Direct tv .

If i need to get setanta , i think i will have to subscribe separately .

So that means 24 extra dollars for Goltv and Setanta if i am not mistaken .

And one thing , how is setanta coverage of champions league ??

I am confused as to how they cover champions league when there is ESPN2 covering Champions league .(thought only one channel gets coverage rights)

And lastly , is ESPN2 offered by Directtv.

Setanta is PPV...they offer the untelevised matches...I didnt know they carried Champions League...because ESPN deportes covers what ever isnt shown on ESPN2...

Yea ESPN2 is offered on Directtv...but I'd get Dishnetwork if the only thing u want is the soccer channels...Dishnetwork is better than Directtv IMO...
Joshinho
I 'm pretty sure that Setanta offers other CL games that aren't shown on ESPN.

Also, while Setanta is PPV, I also think they offer a channel apart from their ppv.

$24 is a VERY small price to pay in order to watch all the games you'd like

True i agree but i have to pay 41.99 every month for other channels i wouldnt watch .

So effectively i am paying 66 dollars per month .

Hmmm thanks for the info guys .

Now i need to check up on the dish network also .

time warner cable doesnt have Goltv , so i will most likely unsubscribe from them becoz I do need to watch La Liga matches.

Could you let me know the names of some of these places? I am familiar with Nevada Smiths, which plays all European games and is often crowded. I would like to find some local places in NYC that cater to Spanish games. Thanks.

Can I get GolTV on TvAnts?
StevoC17
there is a site that costs four pounds, but gives out good quality streams and shows most real madrid games along with a lot of premiership games. to get the streams you must have windows xp, tho. site: footballon.net

Sorry for bumping this very very very old topic.

So, Real Madrid fans in America, what is your opinion about the service of DirectTv? (We obviously would need DirectTv since that looks like the only major provider for GolTv this year) I mean, those guys want a 2 year contract. How are they with bills (do they suddenly come up with hidden charges etc etc) and customer service in general?

Secondly, any idea on how to get World Sports HD?

Thirdly, supposing I buy a 42 inch 1080 pi plasma tv, would the fact that GolTV is not in HD reduce the viewing pleasure to such an extent that one is better off watching GolTv on a regular 21 inch tv?

Last, how does Manchester United look on HD? rolleyes.gif Ooops gotta go, small vomit got stuck in my throat.

i've had directv for more than 3 years (i moved from dish network and never regretted it) and they've been generally decent. i think they asked for a one-year contract, but only because they gave me a free dvr and 3 months of all the premium movie channels. dunno why they want 2 years from you but you should negotiate; if they insist on the 2 years, play hardball and get all the freebies you can squeeze out of their corporate asses. but don't forget to sanitize smile.gif . my big issue with directv is signal interruption during bad weather.

worldsports hd is available through comcast's optimum package; not sure about other hd plans, including directv. but i checked worldsport's calendar of la liga games and it does not inspire confidence. i'm moving to long island and have picked up the optimum plan, and managed to convince my wife our quality of life would improve dramatically if we got a flat-screen tv. she's limiting me to a 32-inch screen however.

as for the 42-inch 1080 p plasma tv, its sheer advantage in pixels per square inch and refresh rate (i'm inventing but it sounds impressive and it's got to be true in any case, given how much you're shelling out) should make viewing much more enjoyable than conventional tvs. just let us know when it's being delivered and i'll be right by with the nachos.

Yeah the food is good, there are alot of Galician specialties (try pulpo if you can stand eating octopus) which are worth trying out, along with the typical jamon and chorizo stuff. They have a projector in the large dinning room which is full of chairs and round tables and they show Madrid and Barcelona games every weekend, plus whatever other matches they can get on satellite. THere is also a bar with a few tv screens. Mostly its Madrid fans and some Barcelona supporters. Also there are alot of old Deportivo fans so they like showing their games as well.

Personally I'm going to school upstate next weekend so I won't be seeing games there anytime soon but yeah as I said any weekend afternoon its open and they don't really card either if you want to get your beer on and your underage.

i'll definitely try the pulpo, seeing as the cafe is galician and seafood is the region's specialty. their gambas dishes must be good too, though it's hard to screw up a dish as basic as gambas al ajillo, one of my favorites. but i'm really hoping the place has good bacalao, which is becoming hard to find, hence much more expensive.

the cafe must've been a glum place after celta was relegated. good thing depor went on a winning streak last season (if i remember correctly), otherwise it would've been hard to take the demotion of the last galician team in the league. come to think of it, isn't our first match against depor?

thx for the 411 and good luck on your studies.

Depends on which part of America you are in. I have been in different parts of upstate NY for the most of my time in America and none of these areas have GolTv in cable. I heard however, that in NYC, Time Warner has finally bought rights for GolTv though i dont think the same would be applicable for the rest of NY.

Hahaha great minds think alike, but to be honest, to think Manchester United is crap doesnt really require an above average IQ. That said, birds of the same feather ought to flock together, so I agree with your statement in its entirety. thumbsup.gif

Thats a lot of information. Thanks cheers1.gif

Which brings me to the next question. How is the signal interruption during bad weather. I live in upstate NY currently, so the snow can get pretty nasty. I mean, how many times a year on an average do you end up not getting any signal at all? That answer multiplied by 2 would be a good estimate for how bad my signal interruption will be.

BTW the words you invented are impressive - no doubt abt that. But those are the very words (not exactly the same words but the same idea) which has given me apprehensions about a high-def tv simply because if the overall clarity of the tv is high, what that means is that it would make channels with less clarity look bad.

i am pretty sure that there must be some of you who have done some kind of recording with regards to music at some stage of your life. I am a pretty decent guitar player and a pretty bad singer. So when I record songs that I create, suddenly, I sound very good over the guitar (even better than how I sound when i play to myself) but my voice is attrocious at best. The better the recording system, better the contrast. I even had a few songs recorded for a radio channel - luckily, there was a lead singer in our band because of which my singing was more a dummy run than anything else.

But I guess eventually, the clarity of golTV shouldnt be too bad - so Highdef should be pretty good as you and This_is_sneidjer pointed out.

As for the nachos, well anytime you are near the Buffalo area, get them ready.

yes, goltv is part of a sports package that you pay $6/mo extra for. well worth it. besides, you can always cancel the package when the season is over and re-order for the following season.

i live in western massachusetts right now and we get our fair share of snow. but oh yeah, you guys in buffalo have it far worse. luckily for you, snow isn't as bad as heavy rain in interrupting satellite signal. summer downpours are just awful in that sense. however, the signal goes back as soon as the worst is over, though there's a wait of about a couple of minutes while your dish searches for the signal.

my experience with high-def tv has been it makes regular tv look better. so you shouldn't fear about quality loss in that regard.

forget nachos, i'm bringing buffalo wings to buffalo!
