Goltv is still available on cable...you don't need the dish.
Depends on which part of America you are in. I have been in different parts of upstate NY for the most of my time in America and none of these areas have GolTv in cable. I heard however, that in NYC, Time Warner has finally bought rights for GolTv though i dont think the same would be applicable for the rest of NY.

I think I found me a new BFFL on the forums.

Hahaha great minds think alike, but to be honest, to think Manchester United is crap doesnt really require an above average IQ. That said, birds of the same feather ought to flock together, so I agree with your statement in its entirety.

i've had directv for more than 3 years (i moved from dish network and never regretted it) and they've been generally decent. i think they asked for a one-year contract, but only because they gave me a free dvr and 3 months of all the premium movie channels. dunno why they want 2 years from you but you should negotiate; if they insist on the 2 years, play hardball and get all the freebies you can squeeze out of their corporate asses. but don't forget to sanitize

. my big issue with directv is signal interruption during bad weather.
worldsports hd is available through comcast's optimum package; not sure about other hd plans, including directv. but i checked worldsport's calendar of la liga games and it does not inspire confidence. i'm moving to long island and have picked up the optimum plan, and managed to convince my wife our quality of life would improve dramatically if we got a flat-screen tv. she's limiting me to a 32-inch screen however.
as for the 42-inch 1080 p plasma tv, its sheer advantage in pixels per square inch and refresh rate (i'm inventing but it sounds impressive and it's got to be true in any case, given how much you're shelling out) should make viewing much more enjoyable than conventional tvs. just let us know when it's being delivered and i'll be right by with the nachos.
Thats a lot of information. Thanks
Which brings me to the next question. How is the signal interruption during bad weather. I live in upstate NY currently, so the snow can get pretty nasty. I mean, how many times a year on an average do you end up not getting any signal at all? That answer multiplied by 2 would be a good estimate for how bad my signal interruption will be.
BTW the words you invented are impressive - no doubt abt that. But those are the very words (not exactly the same words but the same idea) which has given me apprehensions about a high-def tv simply because if the overall clarity of the tv is high, what that means is that it would make channels with less clarity look bad.
i am pretty sure that there must be some of you who have done some kind of recording with regards to music at some stage of your life. I am a pretty decent guitar player and a pretty bad singer. So when I record songs that I create, suddenly, I sound very good over the guitar (even better than how I sound when i play to myself) but my voice is attrocious at best. The better the recording system, better the contrast. I even had a few songs recorded for a radio channel - luckily, there was a lead singer in our band because of which my singing was more a dummy run than anything else.
But I guess eventually, the clarity of golTV shouldnt be too bad - so Highdef should be pretty good as you and This_is_sneidjer pointed out.
As for the nachos, well anytime you are near the Buffalo area, get them ready.
