Puma V1 FG ReviewClick to view attachmentClick to view attachmentAesthetics ~*~*~ 9/10Everyone has their own opinion, but it's hard not to like these cleats because they are aesthetically simple, easy on the eyes, but can be very flashy if you're that type of player. There are currently two colorways, this red one (Eto'o), and a white/black which Rivaldo wore in the CL match against Real. Personally I think the Puma cat is quite catchy and I am currently preferring it over the Vapor swoosh.
Value ~*~*~ 9/10I got these through a friend who has some connections on Hong Kong, but looking at the pricing on major retailers (justsocca, soccer.com) I think the value is amazing, they are very affordable to anyone. Don't expect a price drop within a year though, as the V1 will be making it's major debut in the African Nations Cup, and then the upcoming World Cup (thanks to Rich for the info).
Comfort ~*~*~ 8/10Don't expect Air Zoom style comfort, but the soles feel great IMO (and can be removed for cleaning). I had no problems with any pains whatsoever in my games. They kind of wrap onto your feet like a glove, bit like k-leather for the feel, and although in certain angles they look narrow, they are NOT (compared to Vapor 2's which i also own). They can probably fit wider feet, the toebox is not too tight. The material is not hard, there is no rubbing against the heel or whatever, but different socks provide different feel. I am wearing medium to thick socks as seen in the pic above, but after a few more games I will try very thin socks for even better feel.
It could be just me, but the fiber DOES stretch a little, not permanently, but expands a bit for a glove-like fit rather than squeezing your foot like Vapors.
Performance ~*~*~ 9/10Reason I dont give a 10 just yet is because my skills limit me

I dont have the magic touch of Zidane or crazy skills like Ronaldinho, but performance-wise I think they are great simply because they are LIGHT. I think they are one of the lightest if not THE lightest boot on the market right now. The material is a kind of fiber, with a technical name you can find on soccer.com. At first glance you may think it is cloth, but it's not, it's some kind of woven fiber that does not tear. While it doesnt have any of that first touch gloss gimmick that Nikeskin offers, it is so thin that I can feel the ball with every touch and every dribble. Acceleration and explosiveness can be fully achieved with the V1. The FG studs are extremely well placed that it grips the ground extremely well (the studs are like blades but not sharp), you can sprint stop twist and turn without worry of a slip or twisting your ankle. The heel counter is excellent and provides stability. It is difficult to sprain your ankle unless you really try.
Shooting and crossing deserves some special mention here. If you are really weak and have problems with power on your shots and long passes, you might be better off with Legends or AZT or any other boot with more padding. These cleats are so thin that they give little to no protection at all. It can be a godsend for those light touches and fancy dribbling, but can be tricky if you're trying a Roberto Carlos-style drive shot. If you're naturally a hard shooter you wont have problems, but if you're used to the heavy padding of AZT and Legends, it might hurt your feet a little if you kick very hard. Not that that would be bad for you, it's a great way to condition your feet. Conclusion: the V1 is designed for speedy players (mostly forwards) who have great ball control and can place their shots. You can definitely curl with these babies if you have the technique.
Click to view attachmentDurability ~*~*~ N/AI haven't played with them long enough to judge on durability, but have had no problems so far. I don't think the fiber would tear easily unless someone with blades somehow slashes your cleats, or you get stepped on by a big guy wearing SG (

). The studs, the sole plate, the heel counter, are all solidly built. Because they are not insanely expensive, I would buy them to rotate with another pair of cleats, rather than wearing them day in day out. I can imagine the white ones being a bit difficult to clean, as I have no idea how to rub off dirt and mud, so I cringe at the thought of that.. fortunately I played on a clean pitch so I just brushed off the dust.
Overall ~*~*~ 9.5/10Definitely my favorite boot so far. Up close, the texture looks and feels like crocodile skin. They fit my style perfectly, relying on bursts of speed and quick turns to beat people, and passing quickly. The tip of the boot is also thin and I had a blast chipping people, it was so easy getting the tip under the ball that makes lobbing a pleasure (you can feel and lift the ball with your toes). Also took a few free kicks and had NO problems clearing the wall. They look great, feel great, and are "unique" because not many people wear Puma compared to Nike and Adidas. I think that will change very soon
