As a Motorsports fanatic, I must say that my favorite is F1 but it is closely followed by MotoGp. The shoulder to shoulder racing is breathtaking and even though Valentino Rossi always wins, it always seems like the races are exciting as Sete Gibernau, Max Biaggi and now Marco Melandri and Nicky Haydn give him a run for his money on certain tracks.
I am a Sete fan and this year has been a bit tough as Valentino has him completely dominated mentally. It really is amazing I have never seen an athlete get in an opponents head lime Rossi has in Gibernau's. Oh well, let's see if Dani Pedrosa can challenge Rossi before he moves to F1.
Anyway what do you guys think of this great sport???

I don't watch enough of it. I guess it's my timing but whenever i catch it on, it seems to have more action then a weekends worth of some F1 races.

Sep 3 2005, 06:43 PM
Yeah I still like F1 better because it is the pinnacle but in terms of action MotoGp is great. It has just the right amount of overtaking as in F1 there is a bit too little and other forms like NASCAR there is just too much. Also seeing them wheel to wheel when they go into a hairpin and practically lean on each other is amazing. Also the way they tilt back and forth going through a chicane is breathtaking.

I love motoGP and also other RR (Mika Kallio in 125cc).
I've been following Rossi's carreer since he moved to 250cc and melandri's from 125cc. and those two are my favorites which allthough Rossi's the number one for me it's always been. It's propably those things that I follow 'cause I love motorsports, and that, peopably the all time most skilled driver were finnish Jarno Saarinen who died in 1970's. btw. Jarno Trulli in F1 has got his first name by this flying finn.

Wow I did not know that, that is an interesting fact.
Rossi is unbelievable. I have to think he will join Ferrari if he tests well in the near future. They have already scheduled a more 'serious' test. An talented Italian idol driving for the Scuderia? It will be irresistable for Luca di Montezemelo. Apparently he was not far off Schumacher's average mark at Fiorano in the F2004.
The guy is also in poor Sete's head like anything Ive ever seen. Oh well the hope for Spain must be (soon to be) two time 250 c.c. champ Dani Pedrosa.

Valentino is great. He is dominating the MotoGP! Love how hes playing sometimes with his opponents! he let them pass and then a few rounds before the finish he pass them!
great
but cant see him in F1...

Valentino Rossi is making things really boring IMO, although he is great I would love to see more battles without knowing that Rossi would pull away in the last 3 laps. I also think that the rest need to raise their game, from what I understand Rossi's knowledge of the bike and his relationship with the engineer's is the reason to his sucssess. I dont think its just his racing talent because on paper Melandri should be the more talented winning more championships at a younger age and even beeting Rossi in the earlier days.
Poor, poor Sete judging by the first race a Jerez I would of thought that he would of really taken it to Rossi but It just didnt work out. Capirossi should take the momentum from the last 2 races and build on that. Hopefully next season will be abit more competitive.

Sete's morale is completely on the floor ATM. I cant see him winning as long as Rossi doesn't leave to F1. After Rossi promised that while he was racing, Sete would not win another GP his form has been horrible. How many times has Sete relinquished a lead toward the end of the race this season? Truly amazing.
Rossi, 7th world title. An amazing achievement.

I dont know if he has the fitness to be in F1. There will be alot more strain on his neck. However his lap times at Fiorano apparently weren't too far off of Michael Schumacher's regular times in the same car. Maybe with training and experience in testing, he will be able to succeed. He definitely has one of the best racing brains and mentality in the world. He knows how to handle pressure etc. I dunno if he will make the switch but I doubt Ferrari is granting him testing time just for the hell of it.

The thing is that F1 drivers suffer much more lateral g-force on their necks than MotoGP drivers becuase the MotoGP drivers lean their bikes. Fact.

spinning with MotoGp bike 'causes a falling of the bike with causes serious fast impacts to your neck area, making mistakes are more dangerous with Bike than Car.. also G forces can be tolerated just by better muscle strength whic can be achieved in one summer exercise and even faster when you are already a motoGP driver who has better physics than than F1 drivers, more strength is needed to drive a bike than a car.
Nando.
Sep 26 2005, 03:13 PM
Thats what I said Tozz. With training he will be able to handle the F1 car. The physics of a Motorbike and a Car are much different. Different muscles are strained. With Training he will be able to do it.

Wow i made a few posts in the F-1 forum praising GP and bashing F-1 months back and nobody responded in favor of GP...Im glad to see some GP fans here...BTW remember after the Qatar race last year Rossi said that Gib will never win a race as long as Rossi is in GP...Still true to this day...anyway the first practise for qatar was today with Rossi putting together the fastest time followed by Elias (surprisingly), Hayden, Capirex, and Checa...Im also happy to see Ducati finally find their form these last 2 races

Sep 29 2005, 07:05 PM
Rossi has to be one of the most confident athletes Ive ever seen. To say that was a bold statement as Sete was arguably the 2nd best pilot. Hes held true to his word however and that is truly amazing. The first race of the season this year had to be a killer for Sete's morale. Anyway I hope that maybe one year after Sete can take a victory.

That was a horrible thing for Rossi to say, Gibernuea has come along way since the death of Kato. Rossi's just fortunate he has'nt had the competion some of the previous greats had. Doohan had greater competition, Criville had that illness, KR floped for some reason and leaves a bunch of riders who have'nt won much in 10 years for Rossi to contend with including Sete.

At this point in his career, Pedrosa has won more than Rossi had in his career. I dunno if that means that he will be able to challenge him next year but hopefully he can at least get close to inject some excitement into MotoGP.

I´d really like to see Pedrosa and Rossi in MotoGP, I think Rossi needs a good challenger, maybe Pedrosa can bring this into MotoGp... maybe!
They´re both so efficient at their own style, it shall be interesting to see them both running together.

I know that Pedrosa is good but if you look at the speed of Casey stoner compared to him it about the same and Pedrosa probably has the faster bike. I would say that he will finish above Pedrosa next year. He might be going to yamaha at Rossi's team.
It was reported that J.B (jeremy burges, rossis famous AUSTRALIAN engineer and coach) wants to accompany this great up and coming talent.
But well done to Pedrosa and Rossi.
Also I get off more to the 125 gp just because of the way they go absolutely pshyco. overtaking every corner. its unbelieveable.
Nando.

Yeah Stoner is excellent as well. Pedrosa has proven that he has the mental side of being a Champion though.

was just browing through the forum and glad to see a gp thread. Since i caught a bit of a race in rossi's last honda season I've been hooked. For me its much more exciting than F1, last year and this I went to the british gp at donnington, fantastic experience.
Im a huge doctor fan, he's simply the best thing on 2 wheels, shows his class at the start of races when he drops back and then sometimes overtakes 2 or 3 riders in one lap.
Last race gets underway tomorrow at valencia, looking forward to that. Hope Rossi wins and equals micks record. Sorry nando but I dont like sete much, he moans too much for my liking, I used to respect him but have lost a bit of respect for him now and everyone knows he's gonna do something stupid if he's in the lead.
Melandri and Hayden should be good challengers next year though.
Nando.
Nov 3 2005, 11:41 AM
Yeah I've pretty much given up on Sete. He doesnt have the mental toughness it takes to be a champion. I have now pinned my hopes on Dani Pedrosa, current 250cc World Champion. Hopefully he will be the next Spanish GP champ after Alex Criville in 99. I dont know if he can challenge Rossi though, the guy is simply untouchable. Hopefully he'll move to F1 and MotoGP will liven up a bit.

Well the seasons over now and its all setup for quite an exciting start to the next.
Both Melandri and Hayden have been riding well and finished 1st and 2nd respectively.
Melandri gets a new team mate in the form of Toni Elias while sete goes to ducati and vermulen from superbikes goes to suzuki. Randy De Puniet joins the kawasaki team from 250's as well. No word on who will be at the repsol honda team, probably nicky hayden and some one else.
Rossi had a great last race though, cocked up qualifying and then started from 15th, made up about 8 places in the first lap and then got himself up to 3rd. I love watching him overtake people.
Melandri should challenge a lot more next season though.

season was pretty much perfect.. two of my ultimate favourite riders Rossi and Melandri(who I've bee watching since 125cc) were both good and solid, for Melandri it was first pretty much clean season. And Rossi were something beyond imagination again..
Hopefully we don't have to see Biaggi (or his uncle) that often next year.

At donnington this year it was lashing down with rain and good ol max fell off on the first lap and the whole grand stand just laughed as we saw it on the screen. He got back on and ended up a good way behind the last placed guy, so we all cheered when he came around covered in mud, he ended up comming off 2 more times i think before he retired, jokes.

Well, the MotoGP season begins tomorrow in Jerez, Spain and the Dani Pedrosa era officially begins. It will be interesting how he matches up with Rossi as he could may as well be the most talented rider since the Italian came out. Pedrosa has dominated 125c.c. and 250c.c. so Im pretty excited to see how he fares in GP.
Anyway here is the starting grid:

2º. Sete GIBERNAU (ESP/) 1:39.285

6º. Toni ELÍAS (ESP/Honda) 1:39.875
7º. Marco MELANDRI (ITA/Honda) 1:39.932

Down to Valencia...Nicky Hayden let a 51 point lead over Rossi slip away and now trails the World Champion by 8 points after a breathtaking race at Estoril in Portugal...Unfortunate for Hayden his own teammate Pedrosa took Hayden out in the 5th lap...I could not beleive what had just happened...Hayden said the only way he would forgive Dani is if the Repsol Honda's finish 1-2 and that would clinch Nicky Hayden's first World Championship but it's not an easy task at one of Rossi's favourtie tracks...I just cannot wait for the finale Sunday.
In rider rumors:
Bayliss to ride Valencia for injured Giberneau
Stoner has signed for Ducati replacing Giberneau
Melandri and Elias re-sign for Fortuna Honda
Barros back to GP with D'Antin Parmac
Yamaha might lose their Camel sponsorship
