in speaking with many pros and players, it seems that many people use different boots for games and training?
Im wondering if you use different boots for games and training? do you save one pair for only games and another for training?
also, would anyone be interested in a set of boots that included two similar boots for different uses- games/training?
a training boot could be more durable, maybe more heavy, and more comfortable.
a game boot could be more lightweight, better performance, perhaps at the sacrifice of comfort.
your thoughts?

Well I've got over 8 pairs of out-field boots, so I try to wear a different one each practice, but I actually use each one by what the weather is like.
I wear:
-F50+ fg punjab if it is slightly wet and muddy.
-Puma KSL gold sg if it is very muddy.
-Nike azt III white gold if it is dry.
-Vapour Chrome fg
-Copas
-etc, etc, etc.
I wear it so that that the boots don't get too dirty and stained, therefore I don't wear my AZT III in mud because the stiching will get stained.

Yep, Cinder FG Vapors when i train on astro turf with my school. Grey Vapors FG on regular trainings, Ice SG Vapors for matches.
Your idea of a set of boots sound really good to me. But just make sure that they aren't too different.

i can see people doing that if the boots aren't TOO different...but that would be kind of pointless if you like trained in pulses and played in vaps imo.
i wear one pair of boots for both. (for the exeption of when its wet then i use sgs)

I really don't like using different cleats because i think i get used to one cleat like cutting and turning, shots etc... I just think it is weird to use different ones because it doesn't feel as natural while you are playing if you aren't used to your cleat play in every day... but if they are similar that kind of makes sense except how you said weight... They shouldn't be taht much different in weight.
sorry if it is pretty confusing

Just to join in. I train and play on sand based pitches, so some of you may know that sand recks boots. So when I train (4 days a week, 3 hours per session) i train in a cheap pair of synthetics boots. Usually my Mitres. Sometimes I train in a leather boot (F50 old) when we are training on better grass.
But in matches, I definitly wear my Copa Mundials. But if its too soft Ill play in my F50s.
Just my way, Im not made of money so I cant afford to wreck my beloved copas too early.

i think the only reason someone would have different game and train boots is that the game boots are less comfortable/durable etc.
the vapors are the best example, for myself i train with vapors as much as i train in preds/azt90iii so that whenever i have a game (i wear vaps for games on nice pitches) i dont feel awkward bcoz i havent been wearing them. with lotsa players having multiple boots, its not surprising they may fancy certain feature of the boot on a certain day or a certain condition, its all what the player fancies at that moment. doubt anyone sticks to the tight ruling of 'oh i must train in preds and when i have a game i cannot forget my vaps'.

i really just try to vary my usage so i don't wear some down too quickly. i tend to really go for the color of my kit. so if my kit is red, and i have a choice between chrome, blue, and red shoes. ill go for the reds. even if they aren't the high end version. thats what i really care about. haha. i wouldn't be caught dead wearing mist vapors in like an orange kit. haha. thats primarily y i vary my boots. to prevent wear and so when i train, i use the boots that don't match.

i try to wear a pair of boots out before I buy a new pair. I find that my feet get so used to a certain pair of boots it's often painful to switch regularly. That's just me though

I tend to change each week or use whichever ones I am playing well in. I know its dumb, but I choose my boots a week before I play. Then I wear the boots I wont be wearing on the weekend at training.

It depends on how hard the ground is to if I use different boots for training and matches really that's all. Like if the ground is rock hard I'll wear trainers but if it's pretty soft I'll wear my normal boots.

Yea, I know, its not always that good to change boots too much, but I find that as a left back, all i really have to do is put my foot in to tackle and pass or clear, I don't need to be too familiar with my boots.
I actually didn't mean to buy so many boots, it just actually sorta happened! Last year this time I only had pace vapours, but then I went to london and bought vapours and then I started reading these forums and then I ordered over the internet, and then I went to Malaysia where all the prices are really good, and then I needed soft ground boots, and now...I have too many boots!

I have one pair of boots, always have, always will. When Christmas comes around, I'll get a new pair, and the cycle will start again.

i ahve heard of that vicious cycle. haha i don't erally need to get used to my boots because usually i don't have like any initiall blisters or "break in " problems. they work just like if they were older boots. haha. i don't have too many botos tho. i have about 7000 pairs of shoes in general haha. but not that many botos. i only have 3 at the moment. azt 90 2, 3, and vapors. i buy them when they are cheap. i don't like spending a lot of cash. the priciest ones were the vapors. $50. with $10 shipping. haha. i like bargains.

Personally I like to try and wear the same boots all the time, training and matches - but will change dependent on pitch conditions, i.e. whether the ground is firm/soft. To me having different boots for training and matches slightly defeats the point of training - different boots have a different feel when striking a ball. Like B3ans said though, I won't ruin a pair of boots by training on astro with them - I use old boots/trainers for that. I do think that you have to train in boots first to get use to the feel of them though - whacking on untried boots for a match is a big risk. I STRONGLY disagree with the idea of having comfier boots for training and lighter, less comfortable boots for a match - any boots you wear in a match HAVE to be comfortable! If you get a blister after 20 minutes, then from then on your team might as well be playing with 10 men! Ideally boots should be light, yes, but never at the expense of comfort. Hence now being on to my fourth and fifth consecutive pair of Wave Cup Rivaldos/Pros - they're the comfiest boots I've ever worn, I know they won't hurt me, and they also happen to be light.
Okay, spiel over
