I don't know what's with the Pulse and me, but we just don't seem to get along... (I had my first 3 pairs of Pulse refunded by Adidas previously.) I played in my red Pulse HG for the first time today and the elastic strap at the tongue snapped.

Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this? Should I sew or superglue it?

Also, has anyone tried Adidas for repair/exchage/refund for this reason before?

Thanks.

I never had the same, problem an i cant see how it could happen!

where do you put the elastic, right under your foot or in front?
scotsman
take it to a cobler or something mate they'll be able to stick it back
AHCL20
I place the elastic strap between the 2nd and 3rd studs, the same on both sides. It's more in front then at the middle of the boot.

Well dude that could be your problem.
I know you see becks do it all the time, between the 1st and 3rd, but honestly I put it right beneath the arch of my foot.

The reason is due to the amount of pressure you put on the front part of your foot as opposed to the arch region. There is less wear and tear in that area, and my Pulses have been just fine for the past 4 months.

That might help.

What do you mean by 'between 1st and 3rd'? If I interpret this correctly, aren't you saying the elastic is ON the 2nd stud!!???

I disagree with you, because if I lie the tongue flat on the upper, the elastic strap should lie in line between the 2nd and 3rd studs. Therefore I am not stretching the elastic.

First off calm down.
Secondly you're not understanding me.

THERE IS LESS WEAR AND TEAR UNDERNEATH YOUR FOOT'S ARCH, rather than where you are currently putting the elastic.

Less wear and tear makes it for less stress on the fibers of the elastic strap, and thus making it less likely to tear on you again.

I am calm, just was perplexed about what you were saying abt the 1st and 3rd stud comment.

But surely wear and tear isn't much of a factor, I have only worn these for the first time today... Also, isn't the circumference of the 'circle' the strap makes longer if you wrap it round the middle, than if you wrap it in front - ie more stress if the strap was at the middle?

Look, I am not trying to be an angry storming idiot, but I don't really need advice on how to make it not happen again. I just want advice on what to do next. See if it's worth mailing the boots back. I was hoping someone might have had experience with this before, and I want to know what they did.

Thanks.

lol i thought those straps were industructable. i wear mine in a different place every game. I always forget where I put them the previous time i wore them. So I just try a different place. i notice that it feels marginly different buti forget which one is which.

Hell, I dont even use the strap, I put it around my ankle!

Not, but with my manias im getting, I know they are weak, so they are going under the arch of my foot like Carlos said.

this happened to mine as well i just sewed it and havent had a prob yet. but my pulsions elastic broke right in the middle all i did was tied it in a not. hope that helps
Scousy
take it to a cobbler (shoemaker) and they'll sew it back in and do double stitches so it's more difficult for it to snap again

exactly what scouser said, I have had it happen too. If It hasnt been cleared up I think what Carlos means by 1st and 3rd studs is that on one side it can loop under the 1st stud and on the other instep of the boot it can go on the inside of the 3rd.

the strap on my pulses has never broke, but my manias have several times. but the way i fixed them is i just sowed(SP) them right up.

i heard that one guy here just sent them back to adidas, but u've done that already for other reasons. haha. this time i guess u should make an exception. u could sew it urself or I reccomend giving it to a sewing guy, cobler. they know what they're doing and will theoretically do a much more efficient job than u or me.
Pubes
okay you have two options..

take it to the cobbler to sew back..OR sionce those are made with thin elastic i would HIGHLY suggest getting a new thincker piece of elastic and haveng the cobbler sew it on..guaranteed never to come off..

i agree. I wear my pulses with the tounge an strap like becks an i pay $5 american to have them sewn an restitched so that it lasts, that'l help but you don't need to wear it like becks, i do 'cause i like the look whistling.gif
AHCL20
I have no idea why it snapped... very gutted as it was the first game I've worn them... the elastic snapped at one side, not at the middle.

Yeah I've decided to try to get them repaired, see if I can do that tomorrow when I go into the city, otherwise I will just take them back to the shop, who's said they will take it back and give me exchange/refund...
Brian_005
You might even get something out of it if you bring them back since you've had numerous problems in the past.. but this is of course only if you fight for it.
MSmagicMid7
i wear my elastics way in the front and i usually get a couple months b4 they snap then i just tie my laces over them...
Mr. Adidas
rather than create a new thread, I decided to bump the old one... either way I lose

I was in an out of state tournament and was stretching my groin on the back of the bench and when I pulled my foot down it caught the elastic. snap.

would you suggest sewing it back into the flap (cut it open and sew it so it comes out from the inside) or just sew it onto the bottom?
BanginDrumsAMO 9
on my manias, my teammate stepped on the strap and it snapped. my solution was simple. i just cut off the strap and everything worked out. heres a pic...

if you want the toungue to stay down, wet it the first couple of nights and tape it down while u are asleep. Soon it will stay down without you even having to worry about it.
sportz4life10
send it back and get some absolutes...*lightbulb*
LFC12
if it snaps where it comes out of the tougue
i just got my mum 2 sew it back on lol
if it snaps in the middle i dunno
JC_088
What i did was i just cut the whole elastic off, and it just stays down.
Mr. Adidas
that's a good idea JC... I have the same boots as you biggrin.gif

but if I choose to sew the strap back on, should I try to get it back inside the leather tongue or sew it on the bottom?

edit: also, I drag my foot a lot when I kick the ball, is there any way to prevent the front part of the boot from ripping apart from the plastic sole?

Ask OBY TWELVE, he said that his mom did his and it sounds to me like yours snapped like his did
