i think it will be better than f1, because there is a hell of alot of over taking and the aerodynamics make it easier for overtaking and i like the power boost button (the president of A1 got the idea of the power boost button from Ps2 games)

i just watched the sprint race and so far looks good

the driver that looks good so far is Nelson Pique JR (his old man won the last F1 race at brands hatch)
KiwiGooner
Yeah it's looking great so far thumbsup.gif . Pique Jr looks class. Pleasantly surprised to see a Kiwi finish in the top 3 of the sprint race (Halliday). It'll be interesting what happens with the pit stops thrown in to the feature race.
Allan.
Edit: woop that wasn't the feature race, thats just about to start, what was that race then?
KiwiGooner
That race was to determine how the grid lines up for the feature race. Interesting to see them up on the podium after that race. Apparently it counts for championship points.
Allan.
Do the drivers for each team take turns to drive or something? because each team has two drivers
KiwiGooner
They can select a different driver for each race if they wish. It doesn't have to be just one guy for the whole weekend. Good race by the way. Really exciting stuff.
Great drive again by Pique Jr of Brazil in the feature race:

1. Brazil - Nelson Pique Jr
2. Australia - Will Power
3. Mexico - Salvador Duran

4. New Zealand - Matt Halliday

here the championship standing after one race

>>>the championship standings<<<

get the feeling we are the only two watching it?
Nando.
I wanted to watch it but it was thought it was at a different time. Sounds like a great idea. Wouldn't it be interesting to see Raikkonen, Alonso and Schumi duking it out in equal casrs though. I really hope this series is a success. It is a brilliant idea.

07/10/2005 - EuroSpeedway Lausitz, 7 October- The close competition between A1 Teams proved for an exciting start to the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, EuroSpeedway Lausitz, Germany as their positions continued to change throughout the two sessions.

A1 Team Great Britain recorded the fastest lap for the first official practice session with driver, Robbie Kerr saying: ‘Obviously it went well in the first session as I was quickest but we have still got work to do. It was good that the time was fast enough to put us third overall at the end of the day. For session 2 we worked on getting a balance on older tyres. We ended up sixth fastest in the second session which isn’t too bad but not where we want to be. We know what is making the difference now and so can move forward and tomorrow we are determined to stay at the top of the time sheets.’

The fastest lap in the second session was recorded by A1 Team France’s Nicolas Lapierre. He commented: ‘It has been a good day. This morning was difficult because the team has never been here and nor have I. This made it difficult to find some marks but the team did a really good job this afternoon. We had a small problem on the front wing so had to change it and also a problem with the brakes, but these were very small problems. So far so good, we have to keep pushing tomorrow morning and then we will go for qualifying.’

Recording the second fastest lap over all A1 Team Ireland’s Ralph Firman, who will make his A1GP race debut this weekend, said: ‘It was okay but on this circuit there are no quick corners, they are just very, very long corners and we are struggling with oversteer. It is nice to be back in a single seater although it felt a bit alien to start with. I am slowly getting back to being used to driving a single seater after not driving one properly for two years. I think everyone has now done more days testing than I have so now are ahead of us. It was a good start but there is more to come.’

Well it's all looking set for another thrilling round of racing. France could be the team to watch this week after a disappointing exit last time out. Looking forward to seeing how Piquet Jr does again after the impressive performance in the last round.

From a New Zealand point of view I'm disappointed we don't have our driver for the last round, Matt Halliday as he has other racing commitments at the moment. I don't know too much about his replacement Jonny Reid. Apparently 2003 Indy Racing League champion Scott Dixon is watching on as a guest of the New Zealand team. I hope we use him in A1 because I rate him very highly as a driver.

Allan.
france won the sprint and feature race today

The Euro speedway in Germany is a fantastic track. I personally think that should replace Hockenheim next year...

The concept of A1 is good - The 'World Cup' of Motorsport - but i don't like the qualifying structure (to over complicated) and I think the Feature Race should be over 50 laps, without these daft 30 minutes and 60 minutes stipulations on both races.

I watched the Sprint race and it was good; shame about Robbie and Speed at the first corner, but after that i switch the F1 on...
KiwiGooner
It was another really entertaining race yesterday. Thrills and spills a plenty. I think this series is going to grow in stature significantly in the years to come.

Yeah I do think a 50+ lap feature race would be much better than the current 36 laps. But a great start for A1 nonetheless thumbsup.gif .
