Knee injury may sideline Beltrame
Sportal

Adelaide United keeper Daniel Beltrame may be forced to watch this weekend's Hyundai A-League match against New Zealand from the sidelines because of a recurring knee injury.

It would be the second successive match for United that Beltrame has missed after he was suspended for Sunday's 1-1 draw with Central Coast.

United coach John Kosmina said the keeper would be closely monitored this week.

"He's not suspended anymore but he's had a problem with a knee injury that blew up in the Perth match," Kosmina told ABC Sport.

"We'll have a look at how he goes this week but I was quite happy with [replacement keeper] Robbie Bajic last night - he did more than enough to keep his spot."

Yes, we'd love to be the third team to win at your ground beer.gif cheers!

This should be built as a massve game. I'd be expecting both Rech and Qu to start up front for Adelaide United and it should be a really good hit out. I'd expect this game to be low scoring and probably a draw. I've predicted 1-1 and I think Rech will score a goal.

Rech just thinks of winning
Advertiser

SINCE signing for Adelaide United, Fernando Rech has had only one thing on his mind - winning the A-League.

After two weeks in town training with his new team, Rech feels confident he can accentuate Adelaide's flying start to the new season.

"I want to be champion," Rech said. "I want to win the championship.

"Secondly, I want to play good football and maybe be the best player in the championship."

The skillful Rech gives coach John Kosmina attacking options depending on the opposition.

He can play as an out-and-out striker, or drop into the midfield behind the front runners as an attacking midfielder.

He is also an aerial threat in opposition penalty areas.

The Brazilian made his league debut in Auckland at the weekend, nearly scoring with a strong header late in the match.

He will get his next chance to impress at Aussie Stadium on Sunday in United's top-of-the-table clash with Sydney FC.

But what fans will be watching closely is the development of a partnership between Rech and Chinese import Shengqing Qu.

"I think he is a great player," Rech said.

"I don't think I will have a problem playing with him.

"I've seen the way he likes to play, and I hope we can score a lot of goals and help Adelaide as best as we can."

Rech - who had three years with the Brisbane Strikers and one season with Parramatta in the NSL - said he had noticed a considerable difference in many aspects of the game with the introduction of the A-League.

The 31-year-old has been impressed with the fitness and skill levels in the A-League. But perhaps the biggest change Rech has seen has been in Kosmina, who Rech played under at Brisbane for three years.

"I think he has improved with the new competition," he said. "I can see he is more relaxed than he used to be, and doing a couple of different things at training.

"I think he is a different coach, and this is going good for him."

Can't attend the Sydney game, got my own 6-aside competition to attend to.

We'll miss Yorke, Adelaide might win but i'm predicting for a draw.
Djibrilliant
I think it will be very tough for us even with Yorke still out but I'll take a draw.
hippy_kitty
I'll settle for a draw, but I do want SFC to win by one laugh.gif Optimism people, optimism!!!

Well, I guess Adelaide should be trying to come and not lose to us. In fact, they should come for the win - aim high Adelaide thumbsup.gif
golsky
Our away form has been incredible so far. We've already gone to Newcastle, New Zealand and Perth and won so bring on Sydney!! thumbsup.gif
Djibrilliant
I have never seen such a load of crap refereeing in my life. Sydney's 2nd goal resulted from a freekick that was not even there. Same happened last week with Sydney's 2nd which was clearly a Perth throw. And the amount of diving and 50/50 decisions they got was incredible.

I thought a draw would of been the fair result. Not to mention the clear handball plus red card on the line. happy.gif

Oh and Eddie Maguire eat your heart....the most biased piece of commentry I have ever seen from Slater and Evans.

Will get them when they come to Hindmarsh. Still top anyway! tongue.gif
hippy_kitty
^ feel hard done by with our first loss of the season do we wink.gif

Hmmm, well, I have to agree the ref was an idiot!
golsky
I had to settle for listening to this one on the radio. Adel Utd sounded very harsh with the freekick that lead to the winning goal. I guess that's football but it sucks when one dodgy decision cost us the game ranting.gif

Also, sounds like we played some good football, were unlucky to have Timpano clear one of the line in the last minute or something too?

Sydney have finally won at home, now Adelaide must bounce back....

What was it like at the game HippyKitty? What was the deserved result? Don't be biased now dry.gif

The game was great!!! Shall post the pic in the SFC thread for you thumbsup.gif

Think a draw would have been the best result tbh with you. I know you Adelaide people will think that you should have won and I can say that we deserved the win, but we both had dodgy ref decisions put onto both of us, so let's just call it a truce. I cannot say that SFC were the better team, but if I am being honest, I expected more of Adelaide after all the hype and while they were not that bad, they were not any better than SFC. Fairly evenly matched teams. Great game. Screamed so much my voice has gone laugh.gif
golsky
Looking forward to seeing your pics Jess.

Still think a 1-1 draw would have been much 'fairer' but hey the game of football aint always fair! fish.gif

Sydney have suddenly responded and are picking up their game.

BTW - The crowd was very disappointing... 17,000 when all the hype was suggesting close to 30,000. What happened there?? I think the missing Yorke factor showed in the crowd numbers dry.gif

Yeah, I was a little disappointed - and I wonder if those who did show thought Yorke would be there laugh.gif - but then it was almost 18, 500 there, which is more than 17, 000 laugh.gif

Then I thougt about it, while still being disappointed withe the crowd numbers, Adeliade is not really the state that we really hate with a passion - that is save for QLD and Melbourne, so when they come to town, expect a big crowd. Yes it was a top of the table clash, but I wonder if people really cared. It was not that well advertised either. ANd this is not a big football state with the rugby and also now the AFL - makes it worse that we won both! - but maybe after that hype has calmed down, we can get some people in. It would be nice for SFC to get some back-to-back wins at home and away and keep it up so that people want to come to games and then we can get the crowds we want!

The crowd was better than the one against CC Mariners!!!
Djibrilliant
I think a draw would of been a fair result. But hey that's Football. tongue.gif
Djibrilliant
Ohhh and any United fans there who are going this week I encourage to try and bring a friend. If every that goes atm can bring a friend or 2 we can fill Hindmarsh up. tongue.gif
golsky
I think we should get at least 13,000 to this game now that the stupid AFL has finished. Its a friday night game right?

Hope Aloisi shakes off his ankle knock, he is essential to our team....
Djibrilliant
Yeah. 7.30 pm kick off. thumbsup.gif

I'm getting my ticket at lunch time. First home game for Rech and Qu to start up front together (hopefully).

Gates open at 6. Be there!! thumbsup.gif

Got my ticket. Venuetix piss me off, flaming $2.90 charge just for buying a fricking ticket from them....

She was telling the lady in front of me that the Western Grandstand was not available for tickets? Hopefully it is already sold out.

I don't care I got my cheap 'blue' tickets - General Admission. I'll be behind the goals with the rest of the raving reds clapping.gif

Where were you bagging us 2 rounds ago. whistling.gif

After the last 2 weeks I have to say I don't fancy Sydney much. I hope the Tards get over you this week. idea.gif

Did you goto the Djibrilliant?

Btw does anyone have thematch from Foxtel? I should have got on tv when i punched a ball! biggrin.gif
hippy_kitty
^ laugh.gif I almost got smacked in the head with a ball at the last SFC game. Happy times tongue.gif
Djibrilliant
I did go. I got the game and will be uploading the goals later.
golsky
I was at the game. It was a big crowd - very entertaining game. Adelaide made too many mistakes and we were made to pay for them. The 4th goal came on the counter with us pushing forward although to be honest we could have conceded another 2 easily.

I'd like to see Alagich back in the defence. We missed Aloisi and Costanzo when they were subbed.

A shame we didn't get a win with a strong crowd tonight. Another bloody 2 week wait for another home game - WTF?????

I'm sorry I just think games should be home one week and away the next... it's wrong to make your home fans wait 3 weeks for another home game sad.gif

Don't get me wrong, I do not agree with the way it is either! I have had the same problem as you!

It sucks and it is not the best way to get a regular crowd - no one knows when the games are on if they are not regular!
golsky
Our biggest crowd of the season (13,200ish) and we go and fluff up and concede 4 in the process. Highly entertaining game if you were a newcastle fan (there were about 5 behind me). I'm sure the next game will be as bigger crowd so long as we fare ok for the next two rounds on the road.

What is happening with our defence guys? We've conceded alot of goals lately, I say move Richie Alagich back to the DF and drop Van Dommel who was fricking terrible in the first half. The crowd knew it too, we all started cheering when he made a pass. Kossie should have dragged the nut at half time - disgraceful performance.

BTW - How's Micky Valkanis, he's scored like 3 now I think....
Djibrilliant
Valkanis is a rock! biggrin.gif

We just made too many mistakes on Friday. sad.gif
golsky
Hey, does anyone know if Aloisi and Costanzo are ok after they were dragged on the weekend? I haven't heard anything on the news?

Djibrilliant?
Djibrilliant
Haven't heard anything.
golsky
Sorry to keep asking you djibrilliant but can you remember Adelaide scoring a goal on the ground this year (as in kicking a goal not heading one)?
Djibrilliant
We did v New Zealand and Melbourne. tongue.gif

We're top of the table again!!! Bloody awesome result to win in Qld vs the Roar!!

clapping.gif 2-1. 2-1. 2-1. 2-1 ole, ole. ole. ole. clapping.gif

Rech and Pantelis in the last minute! TOP OF THE TABLE AGAIN!!!
