Havent seen many penalties from players of other countries, but in this country Ruud has to be the best, but Lampard for Chelsea seems to slot away his fair share of penalties, have to say those two.

Well, every goalkeeper knows Ronaldinho will place it to his right in mid-height, but they still cant save it because it is so wonderfully placed.

I don't remember Ronaldinho ever missing in my memory.

If any of you remember, Johan Neeskens who played for Ajax, Barcelona and Holland in the 70s was THE best spot kick taker, hands down, bar none...he put it in with flair and accuracy!

Well he did miss one in a la liga game during their championships, don't remember against whom...but he missed, got up and smiled.....

he was praised for not showing the emotions in the common way and keeping the happy spirits, needless to say they won that game as well....

I've seen van Nistelrooy miss from the spot plenty of times! Against Arsenal and against Andorra are just two that pop into my mind right now..

van Persie's only ever taken 2 penalties as a pro (1 in Cup Final, 1 vs. Sunderland last week) and both were taken beautifully. Struck very powerfully, right into the top corners; awesome stuff. No doubt about it; the guy knows how to take penalties.

Probably say Shearer. Clinical. Yet, the Miss that comes to mind. Last minute agaisnt Ipswich. 1-1 at St James. And he missed.

Ariel Ortega is one of the best penalty takers

Very tough to pick the best.
But even though i hate him and the team, i would have to say that Del Piero is a great penalty taker.
Also Shevchenko, his reputation has been shattered after the Champions League miss vs. Liverpool, but other than that i dont think ive ever seen him miss, thats for milan anyway, never really watched him when he was at Kiev.

A Norwegian player named Kjetil Rekdal (played in Hertha Berling etc. etc.) had a penalty scoring percentage on 99,2. He did only miss one penalty in his career, and he must have taken hundreds.

i dont get how Zidane stands 3 feet away from the ball...maybe even less...picks a corner...shoots there and doesnt miss....if his mentality is that way everytime...and he hardly ever misses...i want him to be taking my penalties...Del Piero is also incredible and penalties...those are the two guys i would want...and ive seen Ronaldinho miss quite a couple of times....

I would'nt say Ruud anymore as he has missed quite a few penalties of late and in the past. For me it has to be Ronaldinho granted he's missed a few but he's improving all the time. and these days is the certainly one of if not the most clinical of penalty takers around. In the past a few names sprimg to mind Cantona who had a fantastic talent of sending the keeper the wrong way, as did Mendieta, also Dennis Irwin was great.I would go for Le Tissier who only missed one penalty in his whole career which says it all.

The two player who impressed me the most over time are Mendieta and Totti. I love it when Totti chips it down the middle, and sends the keeper diving in one direction.

you know who else is good at pks? c.ronaldo! i've seen only 2 pks (2004 vs eng, 2005 vs ars), but they were very well taken, both in key moments

he has a 100 per cent record, I believe. I remember he's also got one in a cup final against Arsenal and I THINK one or two in the league. Anyway he's never missed...
