Hello Everyone!

I play 5-aside football and now since my team got promoted to the adult league, I thought I should start wearing shinpads. I use to before but it just affected my performance for example the ball use to bounce of my shinpads, when I shot my shinpads got in the way and also the shinpads decreased my speed.

The Kind of shinpads I am looking for is, lightweight, stay in the correct position (don’t move around the other side of my leg) and don’t decrease my speed.

So I was wondering whether you could recommend some shinpads for me and also should I bother buy some ankle guard

Well, as soon as i saw 5 aside, i thought 'leightweight guards'!

I would perhaps recommend j guards.

i don't know much, but if i were u, i'd DEFINITELY go for shin guards that come with ankle support. keeps the guards where they need to be and as a plus point, supports ur ankle (duh.)

The Nike Vapor Lites are good because they come with sleeves, and they're relatively light as well.

I have those with the sleeves. I must say, they're excellent guards. I don't realize that I'm even wearing them because they're so comfortable. Everytime the wind blows, I can feel it goo into the holes and hit my shins. I feels so good. I highly recommend those.

that may be a plus, but ankle guards r waaaayyyy to bulky. ur ankle cant move 360 degrees, and it gets itchy

id recomend these http://www.soccer.com/IWCatProductPage.pro...oduct_Id=158233

i'm probably going to get those j gaurds, since my mecurial gaurds are chipping (the chrome) plus they STINK. even if I wash them, they start to stink horribly after one training session...;/

That is true, but when I put mine on, I kept hitting them hard with my cleat to see how protective they were and they are great. They're hard shell, and comfy foam padding makes them comfy and protective. Also, it has such great ventalation the when the wind blows, you can feel it in your shins, and it feels gooooood. So I say you'll be happy with the J-guard.

i have azt shinpads they are protective with removeable ankle guards and sleeves and are very good!

utd_4eva, how do the ankle guards attach to the shinpad? Velcro?

I want to try j guards but our school does not allow us to wear ankle guard-less shinpads. So, I'm going to get separate ankle guards and either a) sew them to the compression sleeve or cool.gif put velcro on the sleeve or shinpad and on the ankle guard.

I use ones with ankle supports, there so much better. Plus im built like Peter Crouch laugh.gif so I could do with them.
