The Uefa rating gives the Eredivise 0.5 points per goal, while the other top leagues get 1 point per goal. Otherwise Kezman would've won it seasons before and last season it would be Kuyt.

its quite obvious tt Toni is going to get it...he's scored 16 goals to date...and there's no signs of him stopping...and why nobody put Lampard as an option? He's scored 11 goals to date..1 more than the most popular choice Ruud van nistelrooy!

Obvously Luca Toni will win the Golden BOot
Lampard is in excellent form as well with 11 goals so far. But I dont think Luca Toni is going to stop scoring.
Forentina are going to have to win alot of games to keep up with Juventus for the title and that means Toni
will score alot of goals.

Has to be Halil Altintop! Scoring so many goals in such a shit team is deffinately an achievment. Lets also not forget that Nihat Kaveci was JOINT top goal scorer with Eto'o before he got injured, Barcelona were top Real Sociadad were mid table(last season), another big achievement which was ignored by top clubs in europe.

He got another brace today.
That's 17 goals in 17 games for Sammy. If he keeps it up, I'm sure he can win the Golden Boot by the end of the season. His closest rivals are Toni who has 16 goals in 16 games, and Klose who has 16 goals in 17 games.

Why Bent over Reyes? Maybe because he has 9 goals at the halfway mark of the season and Reyes just notched his first in the Premiership today. The Golden boot is about numbers, not necessarily the skill of the players.

its between Ruud and Eto'o and for me Ruud edges simply cos his season will not be interupted by representing his national team unlike Eto'o. Ruud looks like scoring every time he sets foot on a pitch, not that Eto'o doesn't, but still Ruud edges it.
If not for injury Thierry Henry with out a shadow of a doubt but it has to be Samuel Eto'o for me.
18 in 18 la liga games 23 alrerady for the season - yeh he may miss a few games with ANC - but after losing out on the "pachcici" last season he has a burning desire to be the best this year.

Well at the moment it has to be Eto'o but i still think Thierry Henry has a chance of closing the gap. Eto'o away on international duty, Henry needs to use this to his advantage, infact all strikers who want to win the award should use the next few games to catch up with Eto'o.
As it stands so far....

1. Ruud Van Nistelrooy (Manchester United) 16/22

A month since the last updates...Eto'o seems to be on a minor drought (just 3 games), Trezeguet and Van Nistelrooy both seem to be going strong. Henry also has also found it difficult to close the gap on Van Nistelrooy. Shevchenko seems to be slowly climbing whislt Ronaldo has not scored since his return from injury. I reckon its between Trezeguet and Van Nistelrooy at the moment. The African Nations Cup has worked against Eto'o in the race for the Golden Boot whilse Ronaldo and Henry have both suffered from Injuries this season, Ronaldo missing 8 games and Henry missing 6 games.
1. Ruud Van Nistelrooy (Manchester United) 19/25

We have nothing against the Dutch division, but it doesn't count for 1 pt, but just 0.5, like the Turkish league, so Huntelaar would only be counted as 15 goals for example.
Except if the Dutch league had a monstrous striker that would score 50 goals a season, but it's not the case, so basically however strong Huntelaar is, he's not in the Golden Boot race.

Hm.. the dutch counts as 1,5 if I'm not mistaken. That would give Huntelaar a third spot at this moment. I think that would also be fair, because it's a bit odd to rank Latvia's competition just like ours

Apr 12 2006, 04:02 AM
Indeed. The dutch league get's 1,5 points per goal while the other other leagues get 2 points a goal. But at this moment Huntelaar is third with 45 points and Eto'o is second with 46 points. And Huntelaar has been second place for quite a while. So nothing is decided so far. Except that Toni will win the golden boot of course.

Dumbest thing about the golden boot is that some some leagues have more matches because they have more teams.. It's easier to get more goals in more games. It's impossible to rank them equal
