On November 1st, the forum will be taken offline for a major upgrade. The forum will go offline sometime between 12am and 2am EST (5-7am GMT). Due to the scale of this upgrade, it will likely take several hours. My current estimation is approximately 4 hours will be required to make all of the necessary changes.
When the forum is brought back online, I will make another announcement regarding all of the new features. No posts or member data will be lost during this transition, however the SP Blue skin will no longer be usable. We will be using a single standard skin from this point forward, and for the time being it will be the default skin. We expect to have a new skin prepared for the forum as SP v3 progresses forward, but no dates have been set at this time.

Without giving too much away...No, at least from the build I've seen, thats not to say that it won't ever be included, just not in this upgrade. But the new features are more than worth the wait.

Depends what time zone you are in. Here in the Eastern US, it will be between 2am and 6am. Most people sleep during those hours. At GMT, it would be 7am-11am. Unfortunately, there is no single time that would benefit everyone. The US is still classified as our larger user base, so I still plan my work schedule around that fact, hopefully interfering with less people that way.

Crap, the first 2 and a half hours of work are gonna be painful. Ah well, the price i have to pay.
Anyways, looking forward to the changes. On the plus side, i'll be checking every 5 mins so i'll be one of the first to know how good it is.

Or somthing bigger than that?
Or both?

Just wondering, will the downtime have an effect on the SPPL or is the latter by itself?
possible effect I'm talking about:
- will early prediction be necessary
frstplce
Oct 27 2005, 08:39 PM
It should only take about 4 hours total time during which the forum will not be available, so it should have no effect on the SPPL. However, maybe one of the SPPL leaders will be able to confirm this.

I think you are at GMT +10, so that would put the approximate downtime from 3pm-7pm. Of course, daylight saving time being different there may have my calculations off by an hour. In which case it would actually be 4pm-8pm.

Trust me, when SP is concerned, any major change is a good change.
