It would be quite good to know what the differences are between mens boots and womens boots - because, as you can see in the Jerome Thomas topic, there is a fair bit of confusion. I had a piar of womens boots a few years ago when I was about 11 or so. Nike Total 90 Womens (Mia Hamm version, black and red if I remember correctly - brilliant boots). Would Nomis ever recommend Womens boots to men with certain shapes of foot?
Hello_Nomis

The women's boot have been designed to offer a better fit to the women's foot - primarily around the heel area which is often where women have problem when wearing men's boots, so the boots have a narrower last and the heel counter has been made narrower and shorter to be a better fit - have a look at the pictures below - the top one of the women's spark show the lower heel counter than the men's underneath it.

Regarding recommending women's boots to men - everybody has different shaped feet, and the chances are that a man/boy may get a better fit and comfort in that boot - I would always recommend buying shoes in stores like the Athletes Foot where they take time to measure your foot properly and fit the best boot to your foot.
ole anyone?

I currently am using a pair of sparks and love them
I had a question on the nomis cleats to be released this april. How exactly does this elevated heel work? I understand how you will be on your toes more but i am a little nervous about the fact that it may feel like im walking on high heels or something.
Hello_Nomis
Mar 23 2006, 11:28 PM
It's hard to explain wthout you trying them on. Basically it is a slight heel raise which just positions your foot in a better position for taking off when you start to run. I'll try and get some more technical info about it for you.
Also, from a previous post, the UK's most popular boot is the Glove SG.
Thanks

I know the sparks are supposed to give you 16x better touch in dry conditions, but how are they in wet conditions? I wouldn't be willing to shell out $400 for two pairs of boots, one for dry and one for wet.
Hello_Nomis
Mar 26 2006, 09:00 PM
They will still give you more grip in wet conditions than any other leather boot. Just obviously not as much as the Wet Control boots that excel in those conditions.
Thanks
Michael

Hi, I'm afraid the only stockist that stocks Nomis products nr Southport stocks Golf gloves only. If you whack me the contact details of your nearest retailer I could try and get someone in the UK to give them a call about stocking them.

Keep those questions coming if you have them.

with the flares and instincts, do they have like a velcro grip to keep down the leather piece that goes over the laces?
and do the gloves and sparks have the no mud system?

just an update on my 'glove' boots. Played on the weekend in wet weather, and i guess you could say the wet technology did have a slightly friction when the ball hit the boot, though nothing dramatic to the naked eye. next time it rains im gonna try on my normal syntehtic boots and see how it compares. But so far, quite happy with the boots.
PS Michael : I hope the 2nd pair come soon, my brother is dying without them

Yes, the lace cover has a velcro backing to it - I will try and take a picture and show you if I can (my camera is not very good at close up shots).
At the moment, the Instinct and Flare will be the only boots with nomud technology.
Copius - only 2 weeks away from pair 2!

if a brand like lotto or joma came out with a lace cover instead of adidas people wouldnt be as quick to say nomis is copying.
anyway adidas should be copying NOMIS. imo these boots look nicer than the f50 +s (maybe even tunits

hey michael
i have a pair of sparks and idk how familiar you are with the boot...but in the heel cup it has a yellow stripe that runs down the inside of it and after a training session or game the yellow stripe rubs off onto my sock. The color comes out in the wash but it may be somehting for you to pass along
i have the light silver/dark silver so it may be a dif. color stripe on other colors not sure!!!

Hey all, thanks for your feedback. I have passed it all onto Simon, and he will get someone to look into the running colour on the silver spark.
Should be able to post up more pictures of the white/gold instinct soon too.
The Gecko is the logo for STIKŪ, the registered trademark for Nomis certified performance technologies.
When you see this logo on Nomis products it means that the product contains authentic surface technologies specifically developed to improve athletic performance. (It will no-doubt be present on future releases of the current models too).

i took a closer look at the instincts and i was wondering if they were made of a synthetic material? it may have been answered in a previous post so im sorry if it has but they look kinda glossy or atleast in parts imo. they still look amazing but if they are synthetic does that change the effectiveness of the dry/wet control??
just a bit curious

iirc, the majority of the upper is k-leather, but it has some synthetic elements on it. like the green stripe running parallel to the ground on the back half of the shoe is plastic

Hi Guys, just another quick post.
I'm opening up the Control Freaks program again for players in America, Europe and South America. We got inundated with applications from the UK and Australia but I would like to get some more worldwide to make a more balanced testing team. So to quickly recap, you get 2 pairs of boots for just $300AU, loads of fun things like boot designing, choosing new designs, a chance to win Instinct and Flare boots etc etc. If you are interested - drop me a PM.
Thanks

You'r post is as pointless as they get, makes me angry aswell, nomis don't worry about hiring people to wear your products and wasting millions of dollars, boots arent any better if beckham or henry wear them, and i dont want nomis and hummel and the few individual companies who are making quality boots with new innovations and technologies to feel they have to hire people to wear they'r boots!!! These resemble the f50 and all of you have to agree that these look better by a mile, and would you guys want a split sole or a sole with no mud attached to your boots! These look way comfier aswell, this just proves how far ahead nomis is to adidas but all you people dont see beckham wearing them therefore you assume the boots must be rubbish!!!
Hello_Nomis
Apr 9 2006, 06:41 PM
Hi
The Instinct & Flare are looking like they will fit 1/2 size - a full size smaller than your usual fit. I have to get confirmation on this as this is based on me trying a pair on!
The flat sock liner that comes with the shoes is to allow you to customise the fit of the boot. It would suit a player with a flatter foot and it also increases the size of the boot by 1/3 of a size.
Now regarding players, it's sad but true that having a high profile sponsored player increases your sales and a lot of people would only buy your shoes if someone famous wears them. To me, ridiculous, but unfortunately the way marketing works. Please bear in mind that Nomis is also still a newcomer and just can't substiante a million dollar contract on a Rooney or a Lampard - there's not much business sense in that! Nomis have always approached their players with the philosophy that they should want to wear the boots for the comfort and performance, not because of the contracts. And it's working, Nomis have international athletes wearing the boots in Rugby League, Rugby Union, AFL, Hockey, Women's Soccer and Men's Soccer. Quite an achievement for Nomis' first year.

never once in there did i say anything about being influenced to wear boots because a big player is wearing them and i meant it would help marketing for nomis for little kids who look up to players because they wud want to buy them and force their parents to get them for them. and now that ur done suckin up to this guy from nomis so that maybe, just maybe you can get those free cleats
