QUOTE(me @ yesterday) *

the shoe isn't overly sticky, but you can feel it when you kick the ball.

also, if the ball is sticky, watch out, because odds are it'll catch

if the ball is a high quality one, IE Nike Mercurial Vapor, or Brine NCAA Championship, you'll have no problems. but if its a lower quality ball that uses some cheap PU for a cover, it'll stick a little. its happened to me maybe 3 or 4 times in all the time i've had my boots

michael - if my returns haven't arrived yet, should i send a copy of the reciept?

Motu
Hi, I bought a pair of Nomis Nine Pincers for use on Astroturf about 3 months ago. I've been very happy with them except recently both boots have started falling apart at the front. The leather shell has started detaching from the bottom of the boot. It's happening on both boots but is much more severe on the one pictured. I have owned many, many boots over the years and this has never happened before. I was wondering what type of warranty there is on the boots - is this something that would be covered?

Having looked around to find comments on Nomis I was pleased to find this post. After reading it and following links and such I think my boots should have come with an extra pair of laces. They didn't but they came with another set of insole's (Nomis call these shoe liners). I've removed the one's inside to compare them to the extra set and they are very different.

The one on the bottom is what comes inside the boot and has grooves to fit the foot on the top and ridges underneath (to remain fitted securely, I guess). The one on top is the extra one and has no grooves and no ridges. What are the differing purposes of these different designs?

Finally, with blades or studs I have no problem with long laces as these can just be tied underneath. I find doing this with Turf boots unsatisfactory as the laces have no studs/blades to fit in between. What do people do with the incredibly long laces that come on the Nomis Turfs? If there is a second pair of laces, are these shorter? If there is supposed to be a second pair of laces, will Nomis provide me with these if I contact them?

Thanks very much for any assistance,

Motu
penf.pat.15
i would think its normal wear and tear. especially since they're turfs, the toe would wear first. do you drag your toe when you run?

the other insole is meant for comfort, i think. its not a spare shoe liner.

and it depends on where you bougth it from... but ask michael, as he's a rep from nomis.

~alex

ps, speaking of returns... my shoes arrive yet michael?
Motu
I guess I must drag my foot on occasion but this has not happened this quickly and severely to any other boots I have used in the past, hence my surprise.

As for the other insole, are you saying it goes in the boot as well and is not a replacement?

And should I have had an extra pair of laces?

Thanks,

Motu
penf.pat.15
not sure about indoor, but for their regular cleats, an extra pair of laces come standard.

yes, they also go into the shoe i believe. i don't use them myself, so i don't know.
Burns
I think the extra insole is for a better fit, because one of my teammates put in the extra insole because of the fit.
pnedved11
yeah because the leather is so soft on the nomis they get worn a lot quicker on artificial grass than other leathers. also i think the extra insole is a more orthopedic type thing. like for flatter feet.
Hello_Nomis
Hi Motu

I have forwarded your picture you posted onto Nomis to get their feedback on whether it is a possible manufacturing fault and warrants a return. My gut feeling is as you have been playing for 3 months it may fall outside the warranty period. Anyway, let's just wait and see what they say.

I will also clear up about the two insoles. You are provided with two insoles so you can customise the boots fit to suit your foot style better. If you have a flat foot, you should use the flat insole, if you have an arched foot you should use the insole with the raised edges. The latter insole will also offer a little bit better cushioning as the material is a bit softer and thicker. Also the flat insole will also increase the size of the shoes by roughly a 1/3 of a shoe size - We recommend that you try both shoe liners and choose the one you feel gives you the best fit and comfort.

I'm not sure about the two laces - it may be a typographical mistake on a site you have seen. I will check with Nomis today and let you know.

And Alex - will double check your returns, but to my knowledge they have not arrived. Please can you send the receipts etc that you have for your postage - you may need to speak to them and ask them what they have done with your parcel!

BTW - now working on adding the instincts and flares to the online shop. (I know some of you have been very keen for their arrival... well the wait is soon to be over!)

Thanks
Michael
Motu
Hey Michael,

Thanks for checking on all of this for me.

Oh, and I was wondering, what do people with the Turfs do with the really long laces?

Cheers,

Alex
Timho
cut them off?
Burns
I would just do the "cut and burn" thing, where you cut the laces and burn the edges.

Could you measure them for me? I will then check if the second pair on the boots is shorter, if so, I will get you a pair sent over. (No-one has mentioned this before so don't know what others do).

Thanks

Blimey, that's efficient - I've only just put them on there! Anyway, check out the two tone Gold on the Flare's leather - it has truely come out 100x better than the original sample. It's beautiful to touch and feel too.

Anyway, must get a couple of hours sleep before the England game...

Thanks

sissoko22
I absolutely love the flares but im sure that i have seen more than the colourway that is on the website. If there are other colours does anyone know the realease date as im sure i have seen black/silver flares and i would really like to but some around Christmas because i have got Nike ID Legends for the beginning of the season
pnedved11
oh man the price is going to be 230. man hopefully soccer.com will have them and discount them like they always do and then i can buy them with my goal club discount.
GINOLA14
Right I am a size 9 u.k in trainers etc, so should I go for a size 8.5 in the Nomis spark boots?

Also on aca sports they are selling the red and white sparks for £80, but it says dry grip instead of dry control on the back of the heel. Is this because they're earlier models?
penf.pat.15
so the glove is on sale in both SG and FG on soccer.com for 140...
Huangers
hey michael i sent you a pm, coz i had a lot of questions tongue.gif

no pressure, just wanna know if you got it. ive got plenty of time to wait for a response.
Hello_Nomis
Yep, sorry, just under the cosh at the moment. I will try and get back to you today...

got my nomis Glove boots in black. man they are sweet and so comfortable but they look a bit fragile. can anyone tell me if the material of the boots flake?
penf.pat.15
don't know about the Gloves, but my Sparks haven't flaked yet, and i doubt they will unless you do something nomis advises against. like blow dry it, or give it improper leather food..

You shouldn't have any problem with flaking at all. I haven't seen one return from leather flaking on the Glove. Just make sure you follow the care and cleaning instructions and they'll be lovely!

hey i dont think i got instructions on how to clean them when i got mine... any tips?
penf.pat.15
they're on a little sticker inside the shoe

but this sums it up:
no leather food
let it air dry
do not blow dry
if you feel like cleaning it, wet cloth is all you need. no soap or stuff like that

Hello_Nomis
Just a couple of news articles that might be of interest:

1.

Regenerate your game with Nomis booster cloths

Whilst Nomis guarantees the grip performance of Nomis Control Leather, we have also developed great new Wet and Dry Control booster cloths to help clean and boost the grip further on the Nomis boots. Dirt and dust can easily build up on boots, even when left in a boot bag - now you can simply boost your grip anytime you like, keeping your boots performing at their best, no matter how often you use them.

Nomis booster cloths currently come packaged with the new Instinct and Flare models, but will shortly be available to purchase online at www.shopnomis.com.

How to use the booster cloths:

Dry Control - using the Dry Control booster cloth will breakdown all the grease, dust and dirt on your boots. Simply wipe the cloth over the boot and allow it to dry naturally for 10 to 15 seconds. Then feel how good the grip is!

Wet Control - The Wet Control booster cloth enables you to enhance the grip of your boots to an even higher level than normal. Simply rub or dab your boots with the booster cloth and feel that extra grip! It is also great in helping to clean any loose dirt or dust from your boots.

2.

2007 to feature larger sized boots!

With the ever growing need for better options for the player and with the demand for better fitting boots for players with large feet, Nomis will be expanding their boot range, launching larger size boots in 2007. Fitting up to a size US16.5, two of Nomis' leading models will cater for the growing requirements of these larger footed players.

That's all for now! M.
Pubes
ive never heard of anyone having a 16.5 size foot!!!

My brother has size US16 feet...but he's a basketball player and it's understandable.

But US16.5, that's huge that's a UK17 - 17.5
Hello_Nomis
You'd be surprised at the ever-growing sizes of people's feet. We even had some request for up to a size 18! We advised to take up swimming!

Hello Mr Nomis. I just have a quick question relating soccer boots and sizing. I've always taken that I should Have a boots as tight as possible on my foot. So there is barely no 'air' between my foot and the upper of the boot. Is this a good idea, as I always see other people with alot of space at the toe, and width so large that the two sides of the lace holes nearly touch each other?

Would this explain many pros 'seeming' to have small fit, yet they just have a tight fitting boot, no looseness?

Thanks in advance for a reply. Its just I value a Company representitives opinion greater then some others...

Hey, I'm sorry to hear that - I obviously can't comment on Rebel's return policy, but I would advise that you have a look for your receipt! Also, take some digi photos of the problem if you can and email them to customerservices@nomissports.com - that way they problem will definately be looked at by the returns and department and evaluated to see if they consider it a fault or wear and tear.

As you talk of "stickiness" I assume you bought the Glove? Keeping this clean with a soft water and a cloth would keep the leather in top-top condition - did you use any leather conditioners like dubbin as that could have negative effects on it? Also, a booster cloth might do the trick as well.

Anyway, try and get some pics!

Thanks
Michael
todayistheday01
Ok no worries i will do that ASAP. Obviously if i get a return i wont want the glove again as it has broken once on me before. I will send the pics to the address u gave me. Do you know what will happen from there is it is considered a fault????
penf.pat.15
Alright Michael, i found my reciept, and i've taken pictures of it... who do i sent them to?

~alex
Hello_Nomis
todayistheday01 - it's really in the hands of the returns department - they may then request your boots be sent in, they may say it's a wear and tear issue - I don't really know. All I can do is help facilitate the process making sure they see the pictures. I also don't know what their policy is if you don't have your receipt. I'm always under the opinion that there's no harm trying first!

penf.pat.15 - did you get postage insurance or tracking? Send the receipts through to customerservices@nomissports.com in the meantime.

Thanks, Michael

KAKA 22
just posted this in the boot review section...but since im guessing a very limited amount of reviews on Nomis boots... i might as well post it here as well..

What: Nomis Glove
Notes: Only first time impressions
Previous Boot: Predator Mania

Aesthetics – 9/10
These boots look mean! None of those funky colours or frilly pretty lines and patterns. Plain black K-Leather surface looks like a serious piece of gear.

Value – 8/10
Priced similar as the top of the range predator and the nike mercurial vapors, I decided to get the Nomis because I have been a fan of the Predator line (owned two previous models before) and wanted to have something that is a little unique from the crowd.
For what you pay for, you get the Boots, a see thru carry bag, extra laces, extra insoles and a leather keychain.

I judge value of boots based on three criteria: Comfort, Performance and Durability... and the boot has be profile some feeling of safety as well.

Comfort – 9.5/10
Performed the 'Hot Water Shower' trick before a ball was ever kicked. Initially I bought a half size smaller than my usual fitting and the boot as tight when put on initially... almost too tight. Then i loosened up the laces and they became quite snug. Wore thick socks in the boot when i did the shower trick, and wahlah - it litreally fits 'like a Glove'. On the actual playing field I was very satisfied with the heel support and of course, the K-Leather garantees uber comfort. There was minimal movement or lifting within the boot when it came to fitment, Lovely.

Performance – 8/10
The construction of the boot itself is suitable for players like me with wider feet, which also means that the kicking area on the top of the boots is much wider. Offset lacing with tounge-strap cover means a cleaner kicking surface as well. I'm he playmaker of my team was happy with my little passes and chips around the pitch that mostly went where they wanted to. Unfortunately, I did not get to do any shots on goal the on the day. But there is confidence in swinging the ball all over midfield. The boots themselves are definately not heavy. They are not Vapors or v1.06's, but definately nimble enough. Heavier distribution of the weight is on the studs and heel area. A nice touch and feel to the ball - i could 'feel' the ball more than with my predator manias, probably because of the thinner K-Leather surface. So deserved high marks here.
Can't yet comment on wet weather performance.

Durability – ???
Was only my first time on Sunday with the Nomis, so obviously I cant give a score here. But just for the record, they still look new after a full game.

Overall – 8/10
Overall I am very with my Nomis Gloves and cant wait to get to know her better. Amazing comfort and predictable performance with the ball. What more can one ask for?
copious
My football season is nearly over, so I have had my Nomis Gloves for a while now. They have pulled up quite well, no signs of wear and tear which looks like it would be a threat. Unfortunately, I still havnt had a chance to try them in wet conditions, it seems to be sunny every Saturday here in Sydney.

But I must say, they are very comfortable and feel like a pair of slippers when I put them on, which is good for me because I do alot of box to box running. I use to get blisters playing in my old Nike Total 90 III's, but the Glove seem to have gotten rid of that.

Also like the guy above me mentioned, heel support is good and the material has held up very well. Happy with my first time investment in my Nomis's, looking forward to my next boot in a season or two!
blue_chocobo
just got my glove and spark today
took a month to get here so thye better be worth the wait.
hopefully they wont stretchout too much cuz they are a bit long.
For all you pulse owners out there, my sparks are a size 7.5uk and they are a little bit longer than my 4 month old 8uk pulses.

didnt get my dual boot bag or my hat though and the sparks didnt come with shorter laces. ;\

gonna try em out at practice tml night ;]
