Hey people I am in need of some help please. I have the possibility to get the nomis magnets for £37.49. However I have only recently got the Adidas Predator Absolutes. I am not quite sure of the RRP of the Magnets so don't know if this is a good deal. I tried them on today because I work in the shop they sell them. They are heaven, they make my Absolutes feel rubbish. I have a few options, i could sell either my original f50s, or my world cups to raise the money for them. I also have the opportunity to ask for them for a gift after recieving my GCSE results, but that won't be until august. I wanted to hear peoples opinions on the boot and the technology involved in them. My season doesnt start until September so I was thinking i dont need them yet, so would it be worth waiting until august? The boots are sg by the way and in the grey colour.
Also could any1 tell me what the control and touch is like with dry control when in wet conditions, and also which boot is better in their opinion out of the absolute and the magnet
ejteK
RRP is £75 or around that.

took a month to get here so thye better be worth the wait.
hopefully they wont stretchout too much cuz they are a bit long.
For all you pulse owners out there, my sparks are a size 7.5uk and they are a little bit longer than my 4 month old 8uk pulses.

didnt get my dual boot bag or my hat though and the sparks didnt come with shorter laces. ;\

gonna try em out at practice tml night ;]

My sparks seem ok so far. I've played in them 3 times twice on turf, once on grass. They are fairly light, lighter than my pulses. Maybe its just me but my shooting accuracy/power seems a tad off than with my ol pulses.
The top tongue part is kind of thick. I would say 3-4 times as thick as the copa and pulse tongue.

No blisters so far but I do feel a little bit of rubbing on the outside of my toes from time to time.
Oh and I do suffer from some slight heel slippage when I'm sprinting.

I can't really tell if the 'sticky' leather is working or not but I do find that some of my moves are more consistant than before.
And I find the shorter laces are still a tad long. The loops from my laces stick out from underneath the tongue flap from time to time.

Anyway thats I'll I can think of for now. I have a game tml
See how they do then.
h o t s p u r
do nomis make lower end boots?
penf.pat.15
yes. magnet and spoiler are the low end boots
USsoccer2010
is it a good idea to wear the Nomis Glove in a warm shower to break them in?
Pubes
i wouldnt suggest it..the leather is probably really soft as it is..break them in by wearing them around the house.
Hello_Nomis
Simon claims you can wear them straight out of the box, and challenged a player that he could:

I started with the boot test on your boot - The Glove FG last night, and throughout my 14 year professional soccer career both in Australia's National Soccer League and leagues throughout other countries, your boot is one of the best I've worn. The name really fits the boot as they did fit me foot like a glove. We did a lot of running last nite, beep test, 10m and 20m sprints, agility test etc And, I'm surprised to say that with all the bloody running, twisting and turning we did last nite I walked away as if I'd be wearing The Glove FG for months - no blisters - very impressive.

Anyway, I have heard a review, I think on this forum about somebody who did wear them in the shower first, but my recommendation is that you don't have to.
penf.pat.15
Michael, i finally scanned and sent my reciept via email. did you get it on your end?

~alex
Hello_Nomis
Yep, I have it and passed it on. It's with the returns team now. You might be asked to go and chase it up with Air Express as I've been pointed out that as per Nomis' T&C's they don't take responsibility for goods lost in transit back to Nomis. Don't worry, I'm working on your side though!
penf.pat.15
^^ ah, but thanks for your help. my mom sent the package, and being as cheap as we are, she didn't buy any insurance. when i called the package tracking place, all it gave me was when i sent it out... maybe i can call customs or something.. :/

OK I'll ask this again as my last post was ignored. I am a size 9 in uk trainers do I need to get a size 8.5 in Nomis boots? I'm planning on getting the sparks firmground.
penf.pat.15
we're not helping you cause you like the spurs.. tongue.gif

yeah, you should get half a size smaller. i normally wear US 9 and i got US 8.5 and it fits fine. if anything, it might just be a tiny tiny bit big..

Hi, sorry I must have missed your post. For the Sparks we recommend half a size smaller - it should be a nice firm fit when you put them on, so they will mold to your feet. Are you able to try them on in a store?

Any other questions, just let me know.

Thanks

Michael-is soccer.com going to carry the new Nomis range? and is there any more infor on some newer boots yet? i remember in one of the old pics there was a boot that said dual control..mind explaining it or anything?

edit- if i wear an 11 in AZT 3, would you suggest a 10.5 in the glove? and how wide is the glove?
Hello_Nomis
Shaka's boots now available in the UK...

kac1991 - I believe Soccer.com will be stocking more models. I will check with Simon and see what info I can get. Sorry, can't say anything about Dual Control yet. If you wear a size 11, you might almost want to get a whole size smaller, but we recommend just a half size smaller. You want the boot to be a really good tight fit when you first put it on. The leather will stretch to mold your foot. Are you considering purchasing online? The Glove is our best boot for wide feet as it is a wider fitting boot.
Pubes
yeah i'll most likely be purchasing online..im returning my 7406 to a shop that my coach owns, and i want to see if he could order the gloves from soccer.com for me in return for the defective 7406..are you sure a 10 wouldn't be too tight?? i think i would get the 10.5.
Hello_Nomis
Yes, maybe 10.5 would be the best. I heard back from Simon and in the next few weeks soccer.com will by stocking 2 x instinct 1x flare plus 3 Nine Pincer, 1 x Blk Pearl and 1 x Magnet. Then in early Dec or Jan they will stock 2007 boots.
Pubes
hmm i wish the red sparks would go down in price like the black gloves did..but is it okay if i got wet control boots and wore them more in dry conditions?
penf.pat.15
i guess the sparks are selling like hotcakes, which is why they haven't been discounted... i just got paid for teaching a soccer camp... if my return doesn't go through, i might get a pair of gloves tongue.gif

so i just saw the topic on The Glove and The Spark being voted number 1 and 2 in the world. i was just wondering, what's the difference between the two? what makes one better than the other? and i heard that the Sparks aren't that durable. is that true?

The Glove is the Wet Control boot and the Spark is the Dry Control boot. The leather finish is different between the two. Personally I don't see one being better than the other, although the Glove might give fractionally better ball feel.
penf.pat.15
Spark is durable.. take my word for it. i've spent the last 3 months tackling hard, changing direction fast, and kicking in all sorts of way, and the only think wrong is the toe of the left boot is wearing down just a smidge and its just just just beginning to separate.. IE one blade of grass gets stuck in there after a hard tackle
J_Baer
Hi Hello Nomis, just some quick questions as I've been browsing the topic lately and have decided to choose Nomis for my next soft ground boot. I'm interested in the Black Pearl.

1. Will I have to buy a half size smaller for this boot? I've seen you repeat numorously in this thread that the Glove and Spark require a half or whole size smaller because the K-leather will stretch and mold to the feet, however is this the same with the calf leather?

2. I plan to buy these boots on soccer.com for $90 as it seems that's where the best price is. Can you confirm that this website is the best Nomis US retailer to buy from? (ie, lowest prices).

Thank you in advance, I appreciate the time and energy you put into this forum.
USsoccer2010
One of Nomis' main marketing points seems to be that all of their boots offer increased protection to the wearer. What features on The Glove FG boots provide this extra protection?

Also, I am curious as to how the Nomud technology on the Flare/Instinct actually keeps the mud and grass from sticking to the cleats of the boot. Have there been tests run to prove that this technology is truly effective?

Thanks

Wheres the cheapest place i can get some flare/instinct in uk preferably? I like both and am really interested but i am not spending 120 quid on them!

We'd recommend the same size - the bovine leather does not have the same stretch as the K-Leather, plus the Spark and Glove are one piece uppers so would have a bit more stretch because of that.

That's quite easy, as soccer.com is the only US retailer currently (actually there might be a store in California as well). In terms of price, you could try some other online retailers. We sell them through shopnomis.com for around $150US I believe so $90 is a steal!

The sole plate of the Nomis boots was redesigned from scratch to allow for better turning and movement to minimise shock and pressure on ankle, knees etc, the soles are dual density which helps disperse the shock... actually have a look at this page which notes down all the points: Nomis FG Sole Features

We are not actually allowed to say how the technology works - trade secret! I'm currently in the process of taking some photographs of the difference (I am playing games with one boot with nomud and one boot without nomud to show the difference. Stay tuned for the images. I think some pictures of with/without were posted previously so I will try and dig them out.

Is Noel Kopp in Chicago really the only retailer in the US that carries Nomis? Based on the stockist section of your site it looks that way.

Redwolf, The Glove is by far the most amazing boot that I have ever worn. From the second I put them on, i could feel the superb comfort that I don't believe any other shoe could emulate. The leather is truly 'grippy' as to give you a better touch. Also, the Wet Control is not just a gimmick, it really makes these shoes the best out there as far as use in wet conditions. While the leather doesn't seem to actually get grippier when wet, my touch was far better than any other player's in the same wet conditions. In addition, my feet stayed dry and comfortable all through a full game on a very muddy, sloppy pitch. However the most impressive aspect of the shoes, in my opinion, is the excellent traction that they have on any surface type. Not to beat a dead horse, but in that sloppy sloppy game I spoke of earlier while my peers were falling and slipping left and right, I managed to go the entire contest without slipping once (I was still able to cut and change direction as well). The only knock I have on these shoes is that it is a chore to clean them due to mud getting stuck in the dimples on the leather, but I would gladly sacrifice those 15 minutes to receive the top of the line performance from this top of the line boot.

PS- The boot I am reviewing is the Red/Black FG version, which I bought for the amazing price of $120 USD from soccer.com thumbsup.gif

I have a question: The Nomis Dry Control system is said to produce 16 times better ball grip at dry conditions, right? It can't be good to play with so much grip when it's hot. Then you already have too much grip IMO. I find it really annoying to have much grip when it's hot, since the ball sticks to your foot due from the heat! This happens all the time with my F50+, so my question is: Why do you need this extra grip when it's hot? I can understand Wet Control. becuase then you need extra grip, but why in dry conditions.....

Maybe the system is great, I can't know since I don't have Nomis but maybe someone can tell me....

Yes, if you are from overseas (non Australia) the Control Freaks scheme is still open. You can have the Yellow Spark as an alternative to the Blue Wave Spark. How does that appeal?

Also check out the feedback on the Nomis website. I can guarantee they are all legit as I am the one who puts them up there!

Soccer.com is currently the main US retailer. We have not launched the distribution outlet in the US yet. I know Simon has been in discussion with distributors, but the current focus is Europe where they are due to launch in Germany first. Nomis will be coming your way...

Have you tried using a soft tooth brush with cold water and a cloth. Should help in the dimples!

That's interesting as I've never heard of too much grip when it's hot. Remember it's normal dry playing conditions as well when you get the extra grip. The theory is more grip, more control, more speed, more swerve, more spin, more power etc etc. (BTW, out of interest when it's hot is it due to how the ball reacts to the heat or how your F50's react to the heat).

Think that's all of the questions...
Thanks
Michael

Oh and as a quick note, someone posted on here that the laces supplied with the boots were too long. I sent this to Simon, who called the factory to check and discuss lace lengths, and as a result, the laces for the 2007 boots will be shorter. (Just wanted to use this point to demonstrate as an example of why we value your feedback)

Oh and have a new women's boot on my desk. Will take a shot and post it up.

Hmmm my kit is blue and yellow so i will get back to you on that, also its nioce to see nomis listen to the people who wear the boots and make changes according to that. Thanks again Michael sorry for all the questions, but i have to ask is there any other spark colourway i could get? If not i am not too bothered. Oh and i know i am pushing it now and i am probably your worst customer (well not yet) but any chance on the blackout-ish Gloves?

It all depends what size you are and what stock is available. Let me know your US size...
·._.·James·._.·
I think im a 7.5 US. In uk i am a 7 but you have to ngo down half dont you with Nomis? Then add 1 and i get 7.5 so i think thats it. Thanks michael you are a real help.

Is the leather on the glove and spark thin, and do the two boots offer good moisture and heat control inside the boot.

I have an uncle in australia, so would it be better to get it there becuase I really can't find nomis anywhere.

I have legends and I thought they were the most comfortable until I started trainning harder and they gave me blisters and sores.

USsoccer2010
I only own The Glove, so I'm not sure about The Spark, but the leather isn't real thin. The Glove offers great moisture control inside the boot, my feet stay dry all through a wet game. But, since my pair is black, when its very sunny outside the boots seem to absorb the sunlight and my feet can get hot.

Lil' Moster
I own the Spark FG and I don't think the leather is any thinner than any other leather boots I have owned such as Fila or Adidas Supernova's. I think they're a great boot and the durability of mine is good. So far I have played about 25 matches in them about 1/3 of these in muddy conditions and they're fine.
penf.pat.15
i'm seriously considering buying those Gloves...

Michael, any words on my transaction?
Hello_Nomis
I've put in a request for some info on the leather so will hopefully post that shortly. Penf.pat, as far as I know your returns have not shown up. I'm doing a nomud boot test today (wahey it is actually raining for once here) and so will ask the warehouse.
