nothing as far as i know, haven't received them yet though. however, you will get some better prices on soccer.com as they tend to mark down certain models.

Got my Sparks (silver/black) and Gloves (black/white/gold) yesterday evening but haven't had a chance to play in them yet, and there's weren't any additional fees or taxes.
after trying them on and knocking a ball around my apartment for a few the Sparks feel nice and the Gloves feel fantastic. I've worn a US 9.5 in Nike cleats and a US 9 in adidas indoor flats and I ordered both pair in US 8.5, they are a bit snug at first. will psot some more impressions when i get to kick around in them a bit tonight.

Ok, just a few questions...
- How does the fit of the instincts and the sparks compare to predator manias?
- And which models do the following shops stock...
Newitts - York?
Premier Sports - York?
Peter Lorimer Sports - County Durham?
Thanx in advance.

I was asked to pose my question here in the nomis thread, after i had created a topic of its own. I am wondering what size I should order. I wear an 8.5 us mens in adidas. I would also like to know the durability, performance, etc. of the cleats. I forgot to add that i am considering the nomis the glove fg

After just three weeks of use in game situations only (about 8 scrimmages), my left boot's upper and outsole have completely separated on the instep, while my right boot is almost separated in the same area. I am very disappointed in the durability of these Nomis The Glove FG boots, although at the same time thoroughly impressed with their performance (except that they are now unusable). I truly hope that this was simply a defective pair of boots and that this incident does not represent the quality shoe that Nomis produces. For those of you who own or have owned these boots, did you ever experience similar problems with your shoes? I hope that I made the right decision by ordering a replacement pair and that this is not a common problem.

mine are a half size smaller than my adidas flats and they fit well. I kicked around in the Gloves for a bit tonight and they've got a great feel to them, they felt a bit snug when i first tried them on but they really do form to your foot.
AH02, i can't compare them to the predators as i've never tried them but the Spark is a snug fitting sort of boot like the Gloves, not quite as soft though.

Hey micheal,
Have been meaning to ask you how nomis sizes work. For sparks/gloves it says to buy a half size smaller cause the one piece leather will mould well. My question is, are half sizes wider, longer or both? For example, is an 11.5 longer than an 11, wider than an 11, or longer and wider than an 11? Im thinking that moulding will impove the width fit but not the lengthwise fit. Am i on the right track?
Also, do all brands work the same way, are all half sizes wider/longer/both or does it vary between makes?
Hello_Nomis
Aug 9 2006, 08:13 AM
This is from my own personal experience. I am a size 13US and I fit, length-wise, into a 12.5US. The boots were snug to my feet width wise, but after a couple of kick arounds they have stretched to my feet so they fit perfectly!! I believe that some players have even gone for a whole size smaller in some cases - which just goes to show that everyone's foot is different. I'll try and get a whole sizing explanation from Simon when I can which will hopefully clear up some of the sizing questions.\
USsoccer2010 - Sorry to hear about your boots and I have to say that it seems like you got a rogue pair! Have you got the red/white Gloves? I noted that they did not get continued, so my advice might be to go for a different colourway if you can. (And what is a scrimmage?)
chrisfig - look forward to a review!
asianair09 - we'd recommend a US8. With regards to the performance of the boots, I would rather let others who have the boots let you know their thoughts (just not USsoccer2010!!!)
AH02 - We'd recommend a whole size smaller for the Instinct and 1/2 a size smaller for the Spark. I'm afraid I can't tell you what boots those stores stock, so just head over to
Nomis Stockists pull up the store numbers and give them a call. I am sure they will be able to order you in a pair if you ask (if they don't stock what you are after).
Have I covered all the questions?
Thanks
Michael

Yes, shoegoe is correct. In the US we call our friendlies/practice games "scrimmages", I guess it is just another term for them

.
Michael, my pair are the black/red colorway.
As I stated before, the performance of these boots is truly amazing. They fit as comfortably as any shoe possibly can, and the traction is unbelievable (I don't remember slipping or sliding once in my three weeks of use). Furthermore, the touch is as good as advertised, allowing you to almost
feel the ball as you control it.
Due to this outstanding performance, I have ordered a replacement pair just like them (although I am hoping for greater durability this time).

asianair09 : I've just finished a 21 game season with my gloves (aust conditions) and the boots far exceeded my expectations! Fit wise, doesnt feel like I have a piece of plastic on my foot compared to my old Nikes. USsoccer2010 is pretty much on the ball with his comments!

since u said that USsoccer2010 is pretty much on ball, then would u agree that there might be some durability issues. if not, then can u tell what condition ur boots r currently in. the reason i need to know is the fact that my parents want me to buy cleats that can last my junior and senior seasons of high school soccer(2 seasons/around 20 games at most).
-I would also like know why the price of the gloves on soccer.com have dropped, not saying that its bad, just want to know if it was made because of something negative.

Durability wise, I have had no issues. I'll take some photos of mine on the weekend. I think USsoccer2010 was just unlucky, happens to all products!
Prices drop, it's the natural process of supply and demand. With the new versions of boots coming out the older stuff has to make way somehow (Well thats just my poor economic observation coming from an IT person)

scrimmaged (now that we all know that word) in my gloves this morning, was a bit dewey when we started but it dried up quickly. really nice touch, great traction. and i split a defender twice with about five minutes left and got an assist

i did notice a stitch coming loose but it may not be very serious, haven't investigated yet.
planning to kick around in the sparks in the next day or two and possibly play in those next weekend.

I don't think they do as this is straight from my 07 catalogue:
Other FeaturesSpecial moulded sockliner gives great comfort by cushioning the ball of the foot and assists players that require good arch support.
Packaged in free shoe bag with replacement sockliners for flat footed players.
Free booster cloth (a new product specifically designed to boost Control Technology grip and help clean boots).

this was covered earlier in the thread, but yes it's totally ok. they won't perform as well as the wet though.
I actually wore Gloves on a muddy slightly damp pitch in a scrimmage yesterday morning, and they still had great touch and great traction. I cleaned them up with water, but there's still some bit of mud and dirt in the dimples, i think there was mention somewhere in this thread of using a toothbrush to clean them up?
still waiting for a dry day to try out the Sparks

I was just looking at some photos of The Flare FG boot and noticed how different it was from The Glove. The question I have concerns the leather on the upper. How does this boot have the same Wet Control technology if less than half of the upper is the dimpled, mesh-looking Wet Control leather? It looks as if the rest of the upper is closer to the Dry Control leather, or simply unaltered kangaroo leather. Perhaps Nomis has discovered a way the disguise the Wet Control technology, but the appearance of this boot definitely puzzles me. However, I was excited to learn that the outsole on The Flare is stitched and cemented to the upper, rather than riveted and cemented as with The Glove. This does seem as if it would lessen any problems with separation.
Also, I have received my replacement pair of The Glove and have not yet experienced any of the troubles I ran into with the other pair. Hopefully my luck holds out.

Does anyone have the nomis sparks/gloves and the predator manias? I have had the manias and the fit was perfect, as predator manias were snug I went for a larger size but I hear that you should go for a 1/2 size smaller with the sparks. I want to know if a size 7UK in manias is equivilant to a 6 in sparks.

Can you be any more of a diva?

.... I said that Nomis had copied the F50's design, I didn't say that Adidas came up with the idea!

.....P.s The lace-cover on the F50's and the Flare's have velcro and the F50's aren't a copy of the Baleni's since the lace-covers don't have the same design!
