I was just looking at some photos of The Flare FG boot and noticed how different it was from The Glove. The question I have concerns the leather on the upper. How does this boot have the same Wet Control technology if less than half of the upper is the dimpled, mesh-looking Wet Control leather? It looks as if the rest of the upper is closer to the Dry Control leather, or simply unaltered kangaroo leather. Perhaps Nomis has discovered a way the disguise the Wet Control technology, but the appearance of this boot definitely puzzles me. However, I was excited to learn that the outsole on The Flare is stitched and cemented to the upper, rather than riveted and cemented as with The Glove. This does seem as if it would lessen any problems with separation.
Pubes
yeah i wish more companies stitched the sole to the boot. would easily help separation problems.

Don't want to curb your excitment, but the outsole is not stitched on to the upper... (sorry)

Ouch! That always burns.

i do agree wit the design what ya sayin there. thats all thats putting me off a lil.... i realli dont know sad.gif!!!

stitching would be fantastic, 2 games in and my new glove top seprated from the sole.....still gutted about it, i love the idea but ive heard a few people complain that the leather comes away from the sole too easily, and i have email nomis customer service, not a dickie bird in reply, would have thought they'd have the gumption to reply.... not entirely happy, with all the hype thought they'd be a lot better built/last longer, paid £15 for my pumas as a stop gap half way through last season when my preds healcap came off, now the pumas aint pretty, but they dont show any sign of spliiting or seperating from the sole, and because theyre cheap i dont really pay attention to cleaning them, they get bunged in the washing machine in a pillow case and come out looking like new, no way in the world id dare do that with the gloves as they'd probably fall apart, come on rep help me out fella, im pullin my hair out in despair, Claire hun your only up the road from me, least you got flat pitches in blackpool lol, you wana see some of pitches we play on in in preston and blackburn, email me o2corben@yahoo.com g.gif

enh, to each their own. i'd say they're much like a lot of boots out there (and less obnoxious than the f50s or similar IMO). I'm quite happy with the look of both my Gloves and Sparks.

After owning my Glove FGs for around two weeks, I've only experienced excellence from them. They performed greatly in dry conditions as well as wet and muddy conditions. Because of this, I'd like to extend my thanks to Nomis for creating this boot. It is by far my favorite boot because of its durability and performance.

Probably because the Customer Service Manager is away all week and for the first few days next week. And I'm not a rep! Still not sure where you are going to stand with buying them from ebay though... Anyway, I'm sure the CSM will be in touch when he's back.

BTW - have you not contacted the retailer?

I'm not sure what the model is but it's like a really shiny blue.

It may not have been Nomis but i don't know of any other boot that i've seen in this colourway.

I sort of agree with Chippen, but i like a lot of the nomis boots. I think they are ment to be eye catching for reason, they have a lot to compete with, with the likes of nike and adidas. Puma are also producing some outrageous designs- grass print V1s.

Hello_Nomis and anyone else that knows, I currently own the Sparks FG but am a bit disappointed at the 'chipping' of the paint on the front of one boot however I love the fit of Nomis and want to buy another pair next season. I need a pair for both dry and wet conditions so am I better to get Dry or Wet Control? This year I brought Dry Control but maybe that wasn't the best choice. I think I remember something about Dual Control boots coming out to. When will that be does anyone know? Thanks.

If you already have a pair of Dry Control, maybe buy a Wet Control pair so you can start wearing boots according to the weather - embrace the 2 boot concept!

BTW, did you have a pair of Bluewave Sparks?

Yes I did have a pair of the bluewave sparks. Is this why they 'chipped'?
Hello_Nomis
Maybe due to the pattern effect because am I right in saying it is that which is flaking? The leather which is underneath is actually still exceptional leather - the control technology is embedded in it so you still get your performance factor & added benefits. It's just an appearance thing. I know all the boots and technologies are always being improved so this aesthetic issue should not be a problem anymore.

In the latest issue of The Austalian FourFourTwo Magazine there was an article saying that Kewell has ditched his adidas contract and will now wear Nomis for free thumbsup.gif. It also had a picture of his new boots which are a special Harry Kewell Edition Spark - mainly white with a red heal and black Nomis sign.

Ah, good post smile.gif I've been bursting to post this and now can as the shoes are now in stores. But following Harry Kewell chosing to wear Nomis boots for free (adidas are aware of this), Nomis have released the boot which he will be wearing when he returns for Liverpool. It is a "super boot" - the Spark HK07.

Firstly here is the story courtesy of 442 magazine:

Socceroo hero Harry Kewell has walked – well, hobbled – away from a megamoney deal with adidas to wear the football boots of a virtually unknown new Australian company… for nothing.

The Liverpool star and his manager Bernie Mandic have a fearsome rep for always battering out the best possible deal, but he’s turned his back on an adidas contract worth up to $1m simply because the new boots from Brisbane-based Nomis are just so good.

"It’s a lot of money, but you can’t put a value on your career," said Nomis founder Simon Skirrow. "And the reality is that’s just a few weeks’ wages for him at Liverpool. The simple fact was he really liked the way it felt."

The switch first came to notice when Kewell took to the field for the FA Cup Final against West Ham in a pair of Nomis boots with the labels cut off to protect his contract. At the World Cup he was duty bound to play matches in his three-stripe sponsor’s shoes – but every day in training, he went back to his pair of Nomis.

"We were staggered when we saw him come onto the field for the FA Cup wearing our boots," said Skirrow. "And obviously we were delighted. You want a big name star to be wearing your boots – and for him to wear it at the FA Cup was just fantastic. We’re not even a pin on the map compared to the big companies like adidas and Nike."

An adidas spokesman said Harry wants to concentrate on getting fit and back playing rather than his sponsorship obligations. "His contract is more or less up as of now," he said. "We’re still in talks with Bernie Mandic but he’s free to wear what he likes."

Ironically, Skirrow is the ex-boss of adidas’s world soccer division which designed the now-legendary Predator football boot. He quit the German firm to come to Australia four years ago to set up his own firm. After a lifetime involved in the creation of sports equipment, he saw a niche in the market for boots that addressed health, comfort and safety issues rather than just looks and lifestyle. He completely redesigned the way boots are put together and brought in radical new technology to revolutionise performance.

Starting off with a lightweight design to cope with the sprint bursts of the modern game, Skirrow integrated new coatings on kangaroo leather to increase grip in the wet or dry. He also brought in padding to increase comfort and protection.

"People think having blisters is normal when wearing boots," he said. "But of course, it’s not. You should be able to wear a boot for 90 minutes without being in pain. Using leather means the boot stretches to fit your foot and allows sweat to evaporate, as sweat causes abrasion which causes blisters."

The treated leather means more control of the ball without sacrificing comfort or safety. One independent test by players rated Nomis boots as the best on the market. Skirrow hopes Kewell’s free endorsement will kickstart sales after two years in business.

"We were already expecting a 300 percent increase in sales before this," he said. "But who knows where it will go now…"

END

I'm just getting some pics together of the Spark HK07 and will post them shortly.

Thanks
Michael
vanpersie17
Good work on getting Harry thumbsup.gif Is there a possibility that there will be an Australian (green/gold) boot for when he plays for Australia? Also i just saw the HK07s in 442, are they going to be the same price as sparks or costmore because they are a special edition?
Timho
nice for nomis!
