Samsung signs with Victory

Melbourne Victory has secured electronics giant Samsung Australia as the club's major sponsor for the next two years.

Chairman Geoff Lord announced what is said to be among the largest Australian football sponsorship agreements since the inception of the new A-League.

"We are delighted to announce Samsung as our major sponsor, and look forward to a long and successful relationship," Lord said.

He added: "Samsung and Melbourne Victory share similar objectives. If you look through their mission statement you see words like innovation and excellence. These are words and concepts which mirror the aims of Melbourne Victory."

Samsung, whose international arm sponsors English Premiership champions Chelsea, also expressed their joy at moving into the growing Australian football market.

"Samsung is very excited to be sponsoring Melbourne Victory,” said Kurt Jovais, Samsung's general manager of corporate marketing.

"Football is such a great game and growing worldwide. Victory is an incredibly talented team, and Melbourne is one of the greatest cities in the world. Samsung couldn't be happier."

"Samsung supports excellence in all things, and we proudly stand by Victory's side on our quest for the A-League championship."

Football Federation Australia chief executive John O'Neill described the ground breaking deal as a great "vote of confidence" for the code and the A-League product.

"It is a terrific vote of confidence in both Melbourne Victory and the Hyundai A-League that Samsung - a major international company - has jumped on board," O’Neill said.

"On the field Victory has produced some outstanding results and it’s great to see progress is also being made off the field."

Awesome news for not only Melbourne Victory F.C but for Australian soccer. Shows how well this A-League has come off.

Before the A-League kicked off, who would of thought that Melbourne Victory would end up being sponsored by the same company as the English Premiership Champions only a couple of months into the first season? Not many
