I was just wondering, have any of you played against a person that is expected to be really good or on your national team. Yesterday i had a high school soccer game. we had to play against a team who one of their forwards is on the u-15 us national team. we lost 2-0 he had a goal and an assist. and he was pretty good.

what i meant was if you've played against them and what you thought like how good they are or asking them how they did it and if they can help u out.

yeah I have played with a guy who has been in the New Zealand under 17 team and NZ schoolboys who went on a tour to europe a couple of years ago (and i think U19 aswell if there is one, but not 100% sure on that)
unfortunately his last couple of years when he really should have been breaking into higher levels has been buggered up by an incompetent doctor.
he had an injury which i believe was only a torn muscle and the doctor somehow diagnosed it as a broken leg! so he spent 6 months in a plaster cast and missed a season when he shouldve been having regular physio. when the cast came off, they discovered what the actual injury was and its even more screwed now i think, i believe its caused him to miss 2 seasons.

have also played against a guy who has just broken into the NZ Knights in the A League - Kris Bright who made his debut up front in the weekend, and have played at national tournaments so there would be countless others who have played at national age group level who i dont know.

Two of my teams played against national sides.

The senior team played against, supposedly, an U21 national side but we were ok with them having 4 FULL internationals in there against us for the last game. We lost 3-0, 4-0, and 6-0. The 6-0 was 0-0 at half time, the Uruguayan coach worked out my holding tactic and made amends at HT. One striker scored 4 goals, he was on trial with an EPL club shortly afterwards, very very good. My 17/18/19 year olds did a fantastic job against them. I could not have extended them any more, nor asked any more from them. 6-0 sounds like a slaughtering, I assure you, it was not.

Also played a US Olympic development squad. Lost 6-0 to them too. They were very good. All athletes, all very complete, all very strong. They beat an NSL U18s side 3-0 so it was a clear indication of their ability.

Also at university, we had a guy who was a Southampton player, just broken into the first team, but sustained an injury which ended his pro career. He was utterly phenomenal. Playing football with him was an education.

Played with some of the best in Michigan. Spencer Thompson, Paul Hoste, Josh Rogers, Alex Morsette. All live up to there standards.

what do you mean by 'utterly phenomenal'? How was he outstanding?

I want to know, because I see players described by others as "amazing" and "incredible" and I wonder, how do they do it? I want to do it! eyepopping.gif
