You all have your favourite players from the professional men's game, but who are your favourite players in the women's form? World player of the year Birgid Prinz? Skilful Brazilian Marta? Or maybe England winger Rachel Yankey?
My current favourite player from the women's game is Hanna Marklund. The Swedish centre-half had a great Euro 2005 and looks set to be a key figure in Sweden's World Cup hopes of improving on their runner-up position to Germany in World Cup 2003.
Name: Hanna Marklund
Born: 1977
Position: Defence

my favourite is Kara Lang, number 15 of canada who plays striker and centre back interchangeably. she gets in there tough and has a wicked long range strike (by women's standards).

Now I need some education in this area, but Arsenal have an 18 yo Chic, and I think she has a good first touch, and good technique.
I would like to compliment her in other ways but i do feel that It would be disrespecting Women's football, and the women in my Life would not be too proud of me.

Just the sort of reply that we don't want in this forum. Try to add a little to the conversation next time.

I think you may mean Lianne Sanderson Soffa, who has become a regular in the Arsenal Ladies side in recent seasons, despite being just 17/18.

Well I guess I will have to be biased here, Mia Hamm, not only because she is the greatest woman who ever played the game but also because she developed football here( I haven't lived in the US long enough but I know that when a sports player gets his/her picture on gatorade they must be good, lol), no but seriously she is a great player when it comes to individual strength and will to change a game around.
She. almost all by herself has taken the US NT to world cup and Olympic glory, I think she deserves some respect.

I admit I don't watch much professional women's football, but my vote goes for Mia Hamm. A great individual and team player.

Jol's Army.... think this WAS meant to be a serious topic...
The first player I really liked was Mia Hamm - AMAZING player and has lead the USWNT to many victories.
However, current and long time favourite player is
Tiffany Milbrett.
Name: Tiffany Milbrett
Born: October 23, 1972
Position: Striker
Club: USWNT, played for the New York Power (WUSA).
I respect her a lot because she's just
extremely talented. But also because she dislikes former coach April Heinrichs just as much as me

. She left the national team in 2003/2004 basically because she felt Heinrichs didn't trust the players or allow freedom on the field (I highly disliked their style of play with Heinrichs... can't say i've seen any current games to know if it's changed). So, on all that, her skill and desire to play the game like it was meant to be played is what puts her on the top of my list.

Marta!!! Who else?? Woman´s football practically don´t exist in Brasil. There is only a few clubs and no money being invested at all. She´s a hero, every brasilian person should be proud, not only of her, but from all those girls that won the silver medal on the Olympics last year.
Full name: Marta Vieira da Silva
D.O.B: 19/02/1982
Place of Birth: Francisco Pacheco (AL)

Silver Medal on 2004 Olympics - Athenas

GO MARTA!!!!!!

One of my favourites has to be Julie Fleeting of Arsenal Ladies and Scotland. She has a great strike-rate of scoring 90 goals in 82 matches.
My other Arsenal favourites are Rachel Yankey, Kelly Smith, Leanne Sanderson, Kelly Lawrence and Alex Scott.
I also like Aloko of Charlton as she is talented and young, so a good prospect for the future.

I'm a bit biased seeing I've grown up in Canada, so my vote goes for the entire NT team. Like many have mentioned, Kara Lang is an immensely talented footballer with loads of potential.
Charmaine Hooper. What more can I say, except that she's the core of the NT team. She's so disciplined and focused up front. She hasn't been a full-time starter now that she's grown older, but she fights for her spot on that roster like a 20 year old rookie (in a good way). It's a shame that not many people outside the world of Canadian football take the time to appreciate what she's done for the NT. All-time scorer for Canada, most caps.

Apparently you don't watch womens' soccer... otherwise you'd know that Germany is dominating now. Hopefully another country can bring them some competition at some point though, i'd love to see it.
On a side note, I watch womens' soccer and love it. I also watch mens' soccer and love it. Both are just different style of games.
Cashbroker... Hooper's one of my favourites aswell

when did germany start to dominate?
Since they have Birgit Prinz... Fifa women's player of the year (twice), Germany's leading goal scorer (I believe). The national team has won the World Cup (2003 - beat out the US 3-0 in the semi's), and the last four UEFA championships (1995, 1997, 2001, 2005). Not saying the US is a bad team, cause they're still up there with the top teams... but they aren't what they used to be - that or the game is changing and better teams are stepping up.

The US deffinitly ain't what they used to be without Mia, Brandi, and Julie. Without out them they are just a good team instead of a great team
