With a new look comes new features and a new approach to modding. At least in my part. So the Iron Curtain has fallen and I will no longer be the crazed commie I once was. So I'm gonna start a thread for the NFL for every week, I'll post the schedule and we pick winners. After that (and during and before) theres discussion.

I'll also pick four games each week and those are gonna be the games that count, you'll get a win-loss record for those four games and at the end of the season the winner will get an "sp baseball pool" like prize (that is to say nothing, only the satisfaction of knowing that you're the boss when it comes to predicting NFL games. Oh and theres no limit to participation, anybody can just come in and post their games. Just dont cheat, its all for good fun anyways.

Ok heres this weeks games, highlited games are the ones that count:

SUN, NOV 16
Carolina at Tampa Bay-Carolina
Houston at Jacksonville-Jaxonville
Cincinnati at Baltimore -Baltimore
Atlanta at Miami -Atlanta
Detroit at Minnesota -Detroit
San Diego at NY Jets -San Diego
Tennessee at Cleveland -Tennessee
Oakland at Kansas City -Kansas City
Seattle at Arizona -Arizona
Chicago at New Orleans (at Baton Rouge) -New Orleans
NY Giants at San Francisco -New York
Pittsburgh at Green Bay -Green Bay
Philadelphia at Washington -Philly

MON, NOV 7
Indianapolis at New England-New England

You mean just like they crushed the Saints and the Packers. If I were the Vikings I would have forfeit both those games. Big question: is Mikey Tyce coming back next year.

Tice should have been gone a long time ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion, he was lucky to have a job last year. He was very lucky to have a job at the start of this year. The only reason he still has a job is because Red McCombs was too cheap to fire him and hire a real coach for a decent salary.

There are so so so many mistakes you could point to. But here is one that I find quite representative. Last year, we were in a close game with the Seahawks....I forget the score toward the end of the game but we were driving and if we would have scored a FG or touch down, we would have won.

Here is the situation...we had been running the ball VERY successfully all game. We are driving and at about the 30 with about 2 minutes or so to go. Perfect...keep running the ball to eat up the clock and score with little time left. Right? WRONG.

Here is the play selection, handoff/pitch to Randy Moss who is to throw the ball into the endzone. Part of the problem was that it was a busted play...Moss was under extreme pressure and the receivers were covered. He goes for it anyway and its intercepted. OK good defense...but why that HORRENDOUS play call? Even if we had scored, your now giving the other team plenty of time to come back!

Sigh. there are a buhjillion of examples like that.

Tice sucks. Simple as.

Are cincinatti as shite as they used to be? I have a knack of picking shit teams to support in american sports.
Nando.
Actually Cincinnati are pretty good this year. They are definitely not the laughingstock of the league anymore. Marvin Lewis, their coach, has really turned things around over there and they have one of the best players in the NFL in Reciever Chad Johnson.
Gallo Caliente
Carolina over Tampa Bay
Jacksonville over Houston
Cincinnati over Baltimore
Atlanta over Miami
Detroit over Minnesota
San Diego over NY Jets
Tennessee over Cleveland
Oakland over Kansas City
Seattle over Arizona

sounds like he was trying to catch the defence of guard or something, but i think the thing that your forgeting is that it is an option play, thats why they call it an HB or WR pass option, if he sees someone open in the play, he throws, if not, he dosen't,

but i can see where your coming from, that prob was a bad call, maybe a play action fake would have been better, personally, i dont see anything good about tice, i think he is an average coach, but you know the vikings better then i do, so i have to respect your opinion and listen to your experecnce,

hope you understood that, and im sorry if i double posted crying_new.gif

Thats why sin4life is my favourite member. If I were the Queen he'd be a knight by now. And thats a bold bold prediction C4life. Thats even more bold than "kid a's crazy prediction of the week" in the mexican soccer forum. The best stat to look at is "All the quarterbacks the Jets have used this year have a total of 3 touchdown passes. Ladainian Tomlinson has 3 touchdown passes"
Gallo Caliente
well thanks kid a. well back to football, I was watching SC (sportscenter) on monday night, and they were making fun of the jets stats. How a running back has the same TD passes as all the jets QBs put together. They were saying other things about jets stats which i though it was pretty funny.

Indeed, he was trying to catch the defense off guard. However, it was a bad call for many reasons.

First & foremost....we were being successful at running and we needed to run more time off the clock. If we had scored, then we would have given tooo much time back.

Second, it is a risky play, especially when you NEED to score. It is one thing to make that play call when your 7 or 14 up and looking to really open up a lead...but when the pressure is on, are you going to trust your WR to make a decision about throwing the ball?

Third, it was completely busted. They had good pressure on Moss (the new "QB") and good coverage down field. Despite the option NOT to throw, Moss tried to be a hero (seem my second reason about not trusing a WR to throw the ball in a pressure situation).

Exactly. Play action fake or just a standard run play would have been exceedingly better. thumbsup.gif

Anyway, Wilf (new owner) seems serious about the vikings. I'd be shocked if he invites Tice back unless we win the superbowl!!!!! sofunny.gif

Is the fight for T.O. really worth it?

In my opinion the Eagles could get someone who is decent and contributes to the team as well.

Dont get me wrong, he is a fantastic player, one of the best but he is lacking one contribution to the team which is leadership. You can't and shouldn't get away with what he is saying. Mcnabb is an incredible player and the Eagles have built this team around him. For how many passing attempts he takes he should be getting the amount of interceptions he is. The ratio of interceptions to touchdowns isnt bad.

I don't care if the Eagles would have a much worse record. Get T.O. out and work on getting some half decent coaching and fill in the gaps that are needed for a complete team because the Eagles already have threats and weapons and in time we should be back on top.
kid_a
haha, i was just gonna post something about this. Ok so it already happened one time that this asshat goes off and badmouths his quarterback. That got settled, the team started alright and all was forgiven. Now he does it again, and this time he might as well be saying: its all McNabb's fault. It seems to me that the Eagles have the tough choice of deciding which player they want, because they cant have both. Donovan is playing hurt this year and hes still playing well, the defense is whats holding them up (except against the Broncos) so all they really need (besides a healthy Donovan) is a friggin running back.

I dont know, before it was easty to forgive all the stupidity that Terrell Owens oozes but now that the team is not winning and that he is both hurt and not producing then they should just get rid of him. And get rid of him soon.

Oh and I'm gonna merge this to the Week 9 topic just for consistency.
Nando.
Carolina over Tampa Bay

Cincinnati over Baltimore

Kansas City over Oakland

Indianapolis over New England (tough to choose against the patriots given their domination over the colts in recent years. However, now the Patriots cant really stop the run and force Peyton to throw into Belichek's secondary. I expect Edge to have a big game...)
Everton Pride
I hate Terrell Owen

He needs to leave the Eagles for good

His contribution to the team is the worst ive ever seen

I dont care how good he is

We could get a veteran and lose him

He is so good but its wasted talent when he talks

He just shouldnt talk. Not a word. Just be quiet all the time

And the Eagles are gonna lose to the Redskins

Colts or Pats?

I think Patriots just because they have a nack for beating the Colts

It is easy to forgive him when he talks then comes out and gets a huge touchdown catch but this is getting outragious. Donovan is who they should keep. Brian Westbrook is a good back. He just is the type of player you need a good line with. Get him in some one on one situations and he will beat almost anyone. Thats why his receiving stats are so good every year. He gets you one on one then starts to slow the play down to almost a jog then sprints past you when you least expect it. He is a great back in the right situation. The Eagles blocking isnt it. Trade or lose TO and fix the blocking. Or fix the situation with TO and get a better back and lose Brian Westbrook. Who they should look into if they can next offseason is Jamal Lewis. They have a some threats at wideout without TO. They arent great but Pinkston isnt that bad. If he didnt get injured this TO thing might be more easy to fix. Greg Lewis is just not that good and Brian Mcmullen isnt either. Reggie isnt bad but isnt getting enough playing time. They should finish up this season, lose TO, look into getting Jamal Lewis, and draft some blocking and wide receiving and in time Mcnabb's leadership, the young talent at wide out, the tuff running backs, and the good Tight end and blockers upfront will come together for a good enough offense. If the corners at defenses grow and prosper, michael lewis gets better, dawkins does w/e the hell he wants, and we stay sturdy enough at linebackers and linemen up front we should be a very, very balanced team and be back on top in several years. Special Teams is nothing to worry about unless Akers gets injured or retires or something. The Eagles should be a good team. There coaching staff isnt great either. Ried is alright but we have a good enough line to stop the run and the Eagles should be stopping the run. There is something wrong here and it isnt the lack of talent

The short answer is "for being an ass" the long answer involves a series of complicacions going back to his days in San Francisco, his refusal to play for Baltimore and most of all his constant attacks on, not just his quarterback anymore but the team in general. He doesnt want to play in Philly anymore and this is the first move in getting rid of him, its what the Bucs did a couple years ago with Keyshawn. These guys just have huge egos. Oh and he wants to get paid so he can feed his family. His family eats nothing but Gold covered diamonds apparently.

Well there goes the Eagles season and here is a toast from superbowl to last place in division. Why do i like Philly teams, it doesnt cash in. I like the Flyers and thats a little hope but sixers have no hope(but Iverson is really good), Eagles suck, The have turned out some great horse jockeys (woopdidoo), and phillies cant get to the playoffs if their life depended on it. Nova is good though. But anyways back to football. How pissed do you guys think TO is know?

I'm not sure if I have ever heard him refer to himself in the third person. He is certainly the kind of person to do so.

And how pissed off is he now...well if he's not gonna get paid while he is suspended then he will be furious. If they're sparing him a couple million then he's not one to mind. This is probably what he wanted all along anyways. What a shame.

Oh and if the Phillies only played the Padres they'd be World Champions every year.

Four touchdowns today for LT, great game by the defense, sweet stop there at the end by Quentin Jammer who earlier had a pass interferance against him for about 80 yards. Look out, we're now above .500. Who wants Phillip Rivers?

The Vikes won!!!! wow.gif wow.gif

Our offensive line actually played well.... then again, Detroit isn't exactly the most difficult team to play.

However, I must say, I've never been that big of a Dante Culpepper fan. He is a nice guy and I like him as a person, but I've never been that enamored with his QB talents. I feel bad for him .... his injury is A NIGHTMARE injury. It is very sad for him. But for the team, I think that Brad Johnson is a better QB. The ONLY benefit (imo) that Culpepper has is in rushing, however, the Vikings are very poor at utilizing that! In fact, to me it seems that the VAST majority of our plays are standard "in the pocket" plays....where Johson is much better.

The only problem with Johnson (imo) is that he is prone to injury. So as long as he stays healthy....I'm AOK with our "2nd string" QB starting!!!

And, at 3-5, would you believe we're still in the playoff hunt?!!!!!! How sad is the AFC North?! sofunny.gif crying.gif
