The Maritimo goal was offside.

The offside rule states that it is only offside when there is only one opponent player (INCLUDING THE GOALKEEPER) after the player the ball was passed to... Baia was actually at the back of the Maritimo striker, B.Alves was the only player that was in front of the Maritimo striker so obviously it was a CLEAR offside.

Do not compare both cases. This was a scandal... did anyone seen the linesmans face after that? It was hilarious.

This is different in the other hand, this was a clear goal that woud have given this match a different result. The linesman was a joke. He started scratching his eye as if trying to say he didn't see anything.

The replays wasnt is very good angles, so that made it difficult to tell.

on a replay with all kinds of cameras you couldn't meaning that the ref who was judging from the sideline couldnt have possibly made that call.

lets be partial and talk about the whole play mecial. was in an offside position when he received the ball and then crossed it into the big area and started this whole controversial goal. so its true the ball went in but this is because of a missed offside call against leiria LETS BE HONEST two reff mistakes in one play.

The Benfica-Porto game last year, it was a goal.
The Benfica-Amadora game this year, too hard to tell, i seen angles that it went out, and vice versa.
But as for this Sporting game, this was the most obvious of them all!
It is ridiculous, these refs and linesman ruin the game on a weekly basis, those are 2 extra points Sporting should not have. Whats done is done, but those officials have to be punished.

There is a big problem i grew up asking my dad why sporting never got any penalty shots game after game they were raped. There team in 93 was probabaly skill wise the greatest team to step in a superliga field. They didnt win because everyhting was against them. I think it was the 99 season where sporting put up the white flag to the league . Then they brought it a Spanish ref and threw Academica a slap.

why not mention Benfica's help all of last season? you guys needed at least a dozen penalties to win the title, yet you talk about Sporting and Porto recieving help from refs?

Sportings not getting help from any refs, this one was a isolated incident Im sure if we were being helped by the refs we wouldnt be in the position we are in now and we would of had some penaltys, when was the last time we got awarded a PK Im sure its been a while.
(On that note all big 3 teams get calls going their way sometimes, its just the way it is).

Yeah unfortuneatly that is the reality. Would be nice to have Pro Refferees theres not even 1 Portuguese ref going to WC 2006 because I guess FIFA figures they dont meet expectations.
