No,I am good at shooting and pass, but not stong, and bad at control the ball and rebound. sad.gif And I am more like to pass the ball than scored by myself.

This is a test just to check which NBA player are you? laugh.gif
For me is Chris Webber. blink.gif

I chosed Power Forward as position and similar abilities as Dirk Nowitzki and I ended up with Chauncey Billups who is obviously not a power forward, but he's got a ring already.
So will Dirk as well in around 6 months hopefully.

I'm AK47
i choose Point guard how it coul come up with Andrie Krielenko

im Chris Paul...i play fundemental basketball....but i could be a Jason Kidd cuz i can do it all....

Tracy McGrady here.. Was hoping for a Dirk Nowitzki, i paly PF myself and I am a very versitile big man tongue.gif

Said i was like Chauncy Billups, clutch, good shooter and can pass. i wanted to be AK who's the perfect all round player when fully fit, he'll get a quintuple one day i can sense it, especialy because he is the only player to get a regulation 5x6.

Nice im Sheed! Fear the bald spot!

in fact people call me vlade... i like to sky hook or scoop it, i post up all the time, i like to dish the ball around, i have a trimmed beard and... oh yeah i wear a yugoslavia jersey lol!

I don't know if anyone is still keeping up with the NBA with all the other sports going on right now, and the NBA reaching that slow mid-season form.
However, after watching the Lakers-Heat game tonight (during 24 commercial breaks), it is becoming increasingly evident that this league is becoming very biased as to who gets calls and whom doesn't. D-Wade scored 32 points the other night...he only made 5 shots! D-Wade gets every call anytime he walks into the lane. Its getting alil bit rediculous, any star player gets favorable calls, but thats on their home court. D-Wade gets calls on the road. D-wade went to the line 7 times tonight (13 FTA). Kobe went to the line once!! Kobe averages 9 FTA a game. This game was at the staples center. The league definitely needs to look into officiating. MJ didn't even get these calls in his prime, especially not on the road.
bob
Lakers were lucky the center from LSU wasn't playing... did anybody boo Shaq still?
jrlm8
Of course everyone did. And they boo'd wade too. Lakers were lucky Riley wasn't there, or else D-Wade would have gotten a call every time he touched the ball.

OMG..i came into this thread to actually discuss this. took the words out of my mouth.

Somehow Wade became the poster child of NBA and the league is caressing him w/ these calls.

check this out
Like how this "is a foul"?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aySGUzzxjGE

This is the game before the Jazz game. Wade shot 17 free throws, and the Blazers shot...7. IN Portland! That's not just a bad call. Nor is it an isolated incident.

How about Dwyane Wade taking 6 steps? (Yes, 6.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QLTtl6sbnE

I don't think I've ever seen a DWade drive where he doesn't score, get fouled, or get away with a travel.

i mean what the hell is going on

Which team do you all support?

Im not from the US, but since my 12th I started watching and playing basketball, and Ive always loved the Mavs. Got high hopes this season theyre gona win it all i tell ya biggrin.gif
Nando.
I went to the Heat - Pacers game the other night, and while I admit that Dwyane Wade gets alot of calls (I dont think its MJ-like though, Jrlm8), he is so fun to watch. He is easily Miami's best sports hero after Dan Marino. Going to the game you're just assured to be entertained. Did anyone see that left handed shot as he was falling and twisting around? That was ridiculous! He also made a half court shot but unfortunately the call was made while he wasn't in the act of shooting.

Also, nice to see Jason Kapono blossoming as a nice NBA scorer. He lives in my building and I see him all the time, so I feel a slight connection to him smile.gif
jrlm8
I have the utmost respect for D-Wade, he seems like a very upstanding player, and a great face for the NBA. The problem is, it is way too obvious that the word has been passed down that he should be the face of the NBA and to protect him. He is fun to watch, when they let him play, going to the line 17, 23, 15 times a game is not fun to watch tho. And this all goes back to the fact that it is a little man's game now.
Greatness
i play like a Chris Paul or Jason Kidd but then i got Kevin Garnett...lol....

i thought i was one of the few that thought of this...especially during the NBA Finals against my fav team...he got every call even when he didnt get touched....as soon as he gets into the lane and u put ur hand out and just touch his back its an automatic foul....i mean he gets more calls than LeBron and LeBron takes it in hard and gets fouled half the time....

Arenas Earns Spot As Starting All-Star Guard
25th January, 2007 - 7:27 pm
RealGM -
Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James led all players in votes received in the NBA All-Star Balloting program presented by T-Mobile that determines starters for the 2007 NBA All-Star Game. James, who earned Most Valuable Player honors in last year’s midseason classic in Houston, received 2,516,049 votes, the second-highest total in history behind Yao Ming’s 2005 total of 2,558,278. This year, Yao finished second receiving 2,451,718 votes, the fourth-highest total ever.

The closest voting race in this year’s balloting was among Eastern Conference guards. Miami’s Dwyane Wade secured one starting spot with 2,029,591 votes and Washington’s Gilbert Arenas (1,454,166) edged New Jersey’s Vince Carter (1,451,156) by 3,010 votes in the closest race in 17 years since A.C. Green/Karl Malone (1,226 votes) and John Stockton/Derek Harper (2,562 votes), both in 1990.

Miami center Shaquille O’Neal (1,622,446) was selected to his 14th straight All-Star team, tying Lakers legend Jerry West (14; 1961-1974) and Utah great Karl Malone (14; 1988-2002) for the most consecutive selections. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar holds the record for most All-Star Game selections with 19.

Joining Yao as part of the Western Conference starting lineup is his Rockets’ teammate Tracy McGrady (1,942,796), who will be appearing in his seventh All-Star Game. San Antonio’s Tim Duncan (1,436,584), who has been selected to every All-Star team since he entered the league in 1997, and Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett (1,616,575), who captured All-Star MVP honors in 2003, will be the starting forwards. L.A. Lakers guard Kobe Bryant (2,138,777), who was the youngest All-Star in NBA history in 1998, makes his ninth All-Star trip

All-Star votes are in. Didn't see Arenas getting ahead of Carter to be honest because Carter has always been fan favourite. I hope he gets selected in the bench along with Kidd. Though I wouldn't really mind since they'll get some deserved rests if they didn't get in.

Gosh my beloved Nets need to fire Frank and fast. His iso tactics aren't working and seems 90% getting outcoached by the opponent. Losing 1 points to both Kings and Golden States when we were leading 20 points or so. It's frustrating. If things aren't working, Frank need to utilize different tactics instead of going through same predictable tactics.

EDIT: I can't believe this. I CANNOT BELIEVE IT! Losing to Queens, States and now LA Clippers by 1 point! We are awful in clutch time. We should've been 3-0 but NO, we can't hold the lead ffs! I'm gutted.

EDIT 2: Anyone noticed Kidd's new free throws routine? Before he was divorced, he blew kisses to his wife and kids before every FTs but now, look at what he does biggrin.gif. But if only he made those crucial FTs..we would've won the game.

Kidd's "kiss my ass' FT routine.

Serious trouble with the Heat. With O'neal still in trouble with injuries, Wade has to do everything but still not enough. First defending champion to not make the playoff?

Anyway, anyone saw Nets v Nugget game? Much better game from my Nets. Kidd, Boki, Carter all stepped up big time. Defensively, we did one heck of a job against Iverson and Melo. And this time, we held on to the lead! Good game overall, anyone saw that 360 dunk by Vinsanity? Absolutely mesmorising stuff. Too bad it does not count as the whistle blew before the dunk. But great stuff nevertheless.

It's the same every year with the Allstar game, it doesn't matter how the popular stars perform because players like Duncan, Garnett, Kobe, Yao, Shaq and T-Mac get voted into the starting line ups anyway.
I'm not saying they play a bad season but at least Shaq with all his injuries doesn't have an allstar like season for sure.
The 2 best teams in West (Mavs & Suns) don't have a starter in the Allstar game even they have MVP candidates as Nash or Nowitzki.
But well, it's about being popular anyway I suppose.

Anyway, I'm glad the Nets won a game without Kristic and Jefferson.
What's the deal with Jason Collins though mate, he gets a good amount of minutes, is a regular for the Nets since he came there but he hardly gets any shots and his rebounding still isn't good for a big man when we consider his time on the court.

My fav team, the Dallas Mavericks, do very well this season, hopefully the guys will stay healthy. I'm worried about Phoenix though, don't wanna see them taking the number 1 spot in the league away when the regular season is over.
bob
If it was any other player in the league besides Shaq getting in with injuries (like if it was T-Mac getting in witj injuries) nobody would care. People only care because it is Shaq, nobody would criticize if Kobe or Garnett had a season similar to Shaq and got in.
energy41
Well, personally I wouldn't understand it either why Garnett and so on get voted into the allstar team if they have a season full of injuries.
The point of the allstar game shouldn't be to have the biggest names of each conference in one team, it should be to have the best players of the current season playing against each other IMO.
KorS
People wants entertainment. They vote for players who'll give them that excitement. Dunking, Alley-oops, No-look passes etc. But there are large amount of people who rarely follows NBA, voting for Shaq and other known stars because they've heard about the guy from other people. Yao Ming, who won't even play in this years All-stars due to injury still gets votes because his popular and known. Same goes for nearly most players. It surprised me to be honest at seeing Carter being 'outvoted' by Arenas because I thought he was All-star locked with his popularity amongst people (Though I do wonder how many Raptors fans voted for Arenas tongue.gif). But when you look at it, Arenas have performed much better than Carter this season so he deserves it.

Indeed, his a useless scrub who wouldn't start for any other team except us. Same goes for Mikki Moore (though his doing one heck of a job lately). But Jason Collins is imo an excellent defender and in fact, very underrated shut-down post defender. He was the one that shut down Dwight Howard to career low points few weeks ago. He was also the one that shut down Jermaine O'neal, Eddy Curry and Chris Bosh this season. He does all the man-mark against oppositions star big man and the bits required. Plays good positional defense as well. He sometimes positions himself to block the other big men so Kidd or others can get the rebound. If only he can improve his offense...

Smush Parker is the worst PG in the league. Tony Parker ripped him a new one in the second half and Smush had no response. I was embarassed for Smush at times. I wish Farmar would play more. Lakers are now 4-6 in their last 10 and are going on a 8 game road trip. I would be shocked if we went better than 3-5 on this trip. Lamar is half the player he was before hurting his knee, and Bynum isn't at the point to put together a full game. Kobe needs help or else the lakers are going to be sinking quickly. I hope we can hang around the 5-6 spot, but I doubt it the way we have been playing lately.

Agent Zero (Arenas) is a player. Anyone who goes out there and says they will score 50 against someone and does, gets alot of respect from me. I hope he drops 80 on Portland (not more than 80 tho, I need Kobe to keep the record behind Wilt's 100). I wish they would let him play against coach K too, that would be fun.

smush isnt bad....Parker is just better....cuz if u want to put it that way any point guard that plays against Nash is not good becuase Nash usually blows them off the court with his incredible stats....but anyways....i think they are going to do good on the road trip....they have Kobe....Odom will come back and Bynum just keeps getting better....but Radmanovich and Farmar need to step up because Walton is injured for 1-2weeks maybe more and Farmar just needs to play good....but i think Lakers will do well....and they are in the West....i dont think they were expecting anything better than the 5-6 seed in the West....
jrlm8
you are right. smush isn't bad. he is terrible. and point guards match up against nash, nash looks better because he runs the phoenix system better. but still, kidd, tony parker, williams, paul, bibby, watson, cassell, terry, etc. can still look good against nash, might not put up his numbers but still able to run their teams. smush goes up against the spurs and has 5 turnovers and 0 assists (for the record, this game went to overtime). the next closest starting pg had 2 assists with 3 turnovers yesterday. smush is averaging 2 assist a game for the season. he really shouldn't have a job. farmar averages the same amount of assists in a third of the time. the lakers would be around 4-5 if odom and kwame never got injured. oh well, the next three games are quite winnable (knicks, celtics, pacers) but being on the road could be a disaster. i hope pj benchs smush thou, then trades him for a sack of potatoes.

speaking of the canadian sensation, he is back at the skills comp to defend his title against LeBron, Wade, and Kobe. should be fun.
KorS
VIIIINNCCEEE CCAAARRTTEEERR! Now, 11.3 seconds left. Nets down by 3. No timeouts left. Vinsanity goes in for the uncontested dunk. Then we foul Deron Williams. He chokes, making 1/2 from the line. With no timeout and 5.7 seconds left, Vince dribbles it up, calm and composed. With 3 Jazz players in front of him AND 5 feet behind the 3 pointer line, he launches it and BANG. Goes in and silences Jazz crowd. He politely waved to them as if this is normal to him. biggrin.gif

Finally some luck to us! 1 point victory (not loss!) over the Jazz. BUT once again, I cannot skip this game without some negative comments about our tactics. Even though, Vince has won us the game, Frank has continuously handed the ball to Vince at the top of the key for the most of 4th quarter, asking him to carry the team. And our leader and PG 'Kidd' didn't even touched the ball besides throwing it in to other players from out of bounds section. I know he won us this game and such but when Kidd is in the game and runs this team, we actually outscore the other team and wins comfortably. I don't know why Frank emphasises so much on Vince iso. Meh.

Anyway, back to the game, once again, overall, an excellent game! Cheers to Carter, Kidd and House who stepped up. It was also great to see Collins going at each other. Just look at their stats:

Jason Collins with 2pts (1-3 FG), 4 rebounds, 3 Assists. Jarron Collins with 5 pts (2-5FG), 1 Assists, 1 Rebound.
Good matchup [/sarcasm] smile.gif

BTW, anyone saw Deron William's pass to Okur (who came off) who was standing in front of the bench thinking he was actually in the game? Hilarious.
---
OT: I had the slightest hopes of Nets getting Garnett but it's gone now. His agent and T'wolves said Garnett doesn't like moving during the summer and never requested transfer. So that's done. Now Gasol is our main target.
---
Now, on to the Nuggets. Interesting stats I counted (mostly due to some argument with Nuggets fan). Since Iverson came to Denver, they've lost 10 and only won 8. Before Iverson came, they were 14-9 which is quite acceptable compare to now. With Melo back, some of the Nuggets fans I know saw their team as a contender for the championship. So far, they are 2-3 when they play together (including tonight's lost to Bobcats). Taking time to gel or bust move? smile.gif

Well, Smush Parker isn't a natural PG. He was never a PG that can run a offense. He is more of small SG like Iverson. He rarely ran a offense when he was with the Suns, Cavs or Lakers and sometimes, he was being used as more of SG that plays defense. Plus, he has both quickness and explosiveness in him as Lakers fans saw it numerous times last season which makes in dangerous to guard. He tries hard and gives 100% in his performance imo. I'm not saying his good but his not terrible at all like you said. But there was a rumour or two about Kidd being offered to Lakers for some scrubs that Nets will never take which means that Lakers ARE looking for a PG.

For Wife? Meh, they are divorced but the thing is that his wife has threatened Nets that she's going to reveal some 'secrets' about other players. I'm guessing Jefferson being bisexual is one of them. But organisation? Nah. Kidd loves it here and already said that he would love to be a Net for rest of his career. He lvose Thorn and knows that he isn't goign to rebuild. They also have confirmed that Kidd is going nowhere. According to the rumour about Lakers though, Lakers will offer Kwame, Mihm, Mckie, Farmer and no.1 pick in 07 for Kidd but Nets rejected it. EASTERN RESERVE FOR ALL-STAR GAME

Butler Headlines Eastern Conference Reserves
1st February, 2007 - 7:04 pm
TNT -
The NBA announced the reserves of the 2006-2007 All-Star Game.

Joining the five starters that were revealed last week, the Eastern Conference will feature Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, Dwight Howard, Chauncey Billups, Caron Butler, Jermaine O'Neal and Richard Hamilton.

The 14 players selected -- seven each from the Eastern and Western Conferences -- were chosen by the 30 NBA head coaches, who were asked to vote for seven players in their respective conferences -- two guards, two forwards, one center and two players regardless of position. They were not permitted to vote for players from their own team.

WESTERN RESERVE FOR ALL-STAR GAME

Three Suns Become Western Conference All-Star Reserves
1st February, 2007 - 7:19 pm
TNT.tv -
The Western Conference reserves in the 2006-2007 All-Star will feature Steve Nash, Allen Iverson, Dirk Nowitzki, Carlos Boozer, Amare Stoudemire, Tony Parker and Shawn Marion.

Boozer will not be able to play in the game due to injury, leaving a spot that will be filled by David Stern. Yao Ming also will not be able to play.

Kidd and Carter both picked for the game. Well, Nash and Nowitzki were locked to make it to Western conference reserve so doesn't surprise me but I was kind of surprised to see Melo not being there.

Also, Washington Wizards head coach Eddie Jordan will coach the Eastern Conference while Mike D’Antoni and his staff will coach the Western Conference All-Stars.

Oh and Miami Heat announced today that they have signed free agent guard Eddie Jones and requested waivers on guard Robert Hite. Shaq doesn't like the move I heard. Meh.

If Agent Zero wins MVP, Kobe should jump David Stern. Arenas is doing what Kobe did last year, just less effectively. Its between Dirk and Nash.

just watch and see Gilbert Arenas AKA Agent 0 will not get the MVP because he plays in the crappy East and his team is nowhere close to being the best team in the East yet alone the NBA....Nash is having a career year but it will come down to him and Nowtizki....Nowitzki is the best player on the best team...so most likely he will win it if the Mavs hold up....but Phoenix cant beat the top teams in the West...and Mavs definetely can...so i think Dirk or Kobe will eventually get the MVP......

Yeah but Thorn will make a trade before trade deadline. If things are going the way they are going right now, expect a trade. Thorn's doing everything he can to make a deal without rebuilding. Gasol, Garnett, Ely, Jermaine O'neal all have been mentioned which means that they are doing something. Also, Nets have imo been one of the unluckiest team ever with so many OT, buzzer, 1 point loses. We should be above .500 but things happen and we lacked concentration at the end. I still expect us to make a winning streak after the All-Star break like we ALWAYS do/did back when we received Carter, or the season after that when we had losing record before making 2 '10 winning streak'. We'll make the playoff as division leader. (even though it's nothing to be proud in Atlantic Division)

Arenas will not get the MVP this year. He is far too inconsistent and furthermore, his team is in the 'LEastern Conference' as just over 60% winning rate. When looking at MVP, they look at your team's winning record and 60% is nothing to be proud of.

Nash is in consideration and is doing unbelievably well but I don't think he'll win 3 consecutive MVP. He isn't even top 5 all-time PG in my or most of NBA fans book and yet, he gets more MVP than all of them? That's not right. 3 MVP is in same league as Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, M.Malone. The likes of Shaq, Garnett, Duncan, Hakeem, Karl Malone, David Robinson, Barkley only has 1 or 2 MVP as well as superior point guard such as Payton, Kidd, Stockton, Isiah, Oscar, Cousy receiving 0 or 1 MVP.

I partly agree with Greatness as well. Phoenix's record against top teams are extremely poor while Mavs have beaten top sides through their records. I think Dirk will get it.

Cavaliers Talk Bibby Trade With Kings
10th February, 2007 - 8:22 pm
Sacramento Bee -
According to three sources that spoke with the Sacramento Bee, the Cavaliers and Kings have engaged on trade talks surrounding Mike Bibby.

His agent, David Falk, told The Bee this week that Bibby is unlikely to opt out of his contract after this season.

"If (the Kings) are willing to give up on me after one bad shooting year, then that's the way they are," Bibby said. "I think I've had pretty good years before this one. The first 22 games (this season), I didn't shoot the ball too well because I had a messed-up hand. I was still out there trying to help the team, trying to do everything I can. To have one season where I shoot (poorly) ... and have everybody turn on me like that, it's kind of frustrating."

Interesting what Cavs got to offer? Gooden? Snow? Hughes? Wesley? Marshall? Meh, we'll see...

Comments on Nets v Magic today.

Marcus Williams + Antoine Wright. Those two have great chemistry together if only they could both be on the court at the same time! Bit surprised that Nachbar didn't play more but the bench still did well. It didn't hurt that Carter took advantage of the Magic's weak 2 guard position either. Uncle Cliffy did decent job imo on Howard even though Howard and Darko(surprise surprise) did well. Kidd proved a tough task for Jameer. Despite being 34, he still plays great defense on some of these youngsters and still does well in other department. He also made some crucial shots which turned the game around.

For the Magics, Hedo and most of the guards decided to take stupid contested jumpers without going inside first and drawing the defense. They had no answer for that. Its not smart as Darko and Dwight dominated us inside.

Or BTW anyone saw yesterday's Dwight Howard Buzzer Hoop? Gosh, monster jam by him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNb5dfeI93I

Other note. Raptors are really surprising me. Bosh is scoring and doing everything to lead this young Raptors and deserves some MVP chants he gets. Colangelo also done great job in building aroud Bosh with the signings of Ford and drafting Bargnani. And if the Raptors continue this form after the break, it could be very hard for the Nets to catch up (Luckily they lost to Pistons today). Also, Denver is awful after the trade and the fact that when Iverson was out, they won means that Melo + Iverson combo aren't working. Celtics have lost 17 in a row and rusty night for injury comeback Pierce yesterday against us. Still with him back, I expect them to break that streak soon.

Suns minus Nash losing to Hawks just shows how Nash is important to that team. Aren't they 1-13 when Nash is out? Gosh.

Haha. Damn I'm the only one posting here.

Anyway some interesting news and trade rumours I found but nothing surprising.

Lakers And Cavaliers Interested In Kidd?

A couple weeks ago, Peter Vecsey reported that the Lakers had offered a couple first-round draft picks and several expiring contracts for Jason Kidd. Chris Mihm, Aaron McKie, etc., and Jordan Farmar were mentioned.

Talks stopped briefly, but the Nets are considering the deal, according to the source.

The Cavaliers, also on the market for a point guard, reportedly called the Nets expressing their fondness for Kidd.

"I don't look for that to happen," said someone in the know. "Given the choice between playing in Cleveland with LeBron or in Los Angeles with Kobe, I suspect we know which way Kidd would lean. You definitely don't want an unhappy impact player."

As much as I love the Nets and Kidd, I think Kidd deserves to be with championship contenders. With Kidd in either Cavs or Lakers, it's definitely going to improve his chances rather than being as a Net. But if Kidd is dealt, I expect good draft picks and prospects in return. Furthermore, Marcus Williams is future All-star imo and will fill in well if Kidd is gone.

Bulls' Recent Struggles Improve Chances At Gasol Deal?

The Bulls recent struggles on their Western Conference roadtrip may improve the chances of the team pulling the trigger on a deal for Memphis forward Pau Gasol, the Memphis Commercial Appeal is reporting.

Paxson's concerns about the Bulls' ability to contend in the Eastern Conference appear to be growing. The Bulls are 2-4 (including losses at Sacramento and Golden State) on the trip heading into a game today at Phoenix.

Conventional wisdom around the Bulls suggests that Paxson has given more thought than ever to making a major move before the Feb. 22 trade deadline.

A deal sure to send Gasol packing would include P.J. Brown, Luol Deng and Andres Nocioni.

Ben Gordon reportedly is off limits.

Probably, Andres Nocioni, PJ Brown, Chris Duhon, Adrian Griffin, 1st round pick (NY swap option), 2nd round pick 2007 for Pau Gasol, Dahntay Jones and Alexander Johnson ? Since Gordan is off limit.

Bulls starting 5:
Hinrich
Gordon
Deng
Gasol
Wallace

Looks good for Bulls and Grizz meanwhile gets two draft pick, one which they can use it on either Oden or Durant if they get lucky. And the other one, they can use it to get future PG. Damn! I wish Nets get Oden but no chance at all unless we trade both Carter and Kidd...

Josh Howard, Carmelo Anthony named All-Star replacements

Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard and Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony have been named by NBA Commissioner David Stern to replace injured West All-Stars Yao Ming (right knee) of the Houston Rockets and Carlos Boozer (left fibula) on the Western Conference Roster for the 2007 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 18 in Las Vegas.

“It is an honor to be selected to my first All-Star Team,” said Howard. “This has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. It is especially gratifying to play along side my teammate Dirk Nowitzki.”

Anthony, who will make his first All-Star appearance, is enjoying his finest season as a pro. He currently leads the NBA in scoring (career-high 30.8 ppg) and is averaging 5.9 rpg, 4.2 apg and 1.19 spg. Against Phoenix on Feb. 5, he posted his first career triple-double with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He was named Third Team All-NBA last season.

Anthony joins teammate Allen Iverson on the Western Conference roster. Iverson was selected as a reserve on Feb. 1. This marks the first time the Nuggets have two All-Stars since 1988 (Alex English and Fat Lever).

Anthony and Howard, each in their fourth NBA season, will be making their first All-Star appearance. West All-Star head coach Mike D’Antoni will determine which player on his roster will replace Yao in the starting line-up.

The NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 18, will air live on TNT and ESPN Radio beginning at 8 p.m. EST.

Both deserved imo. Howard have been immense during Mavs excellent record while Melo is the scoring leader with 30.9 pg.

Nets seriously considering Kidd-to-Lakers deal
Monday, Feb 12, 2007 1:18 pm EST

The New Jersey Nets are seriously considering a deal that would send All-Star point guard Jason Kidd to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers have offered two first-round draft picks and several expiring contracts, in return. Chris Mihm, Aaron McKie and Jordan Farmar have been mentioned, as has center Kwame Brown. Nets' center Jason Collins could also be involved.

Source: New York Post

Well, Nets are 'seriously' considering. I expect Nets to make one of those 'big' trade involving one of our big 3 soon. Thorn already said that if things don't work, he'll look for a trade so I expect either Kidd or Carter to be dealt. (Carter can opt out of his contract)

For the Lakers - giving up drafts and prospect (such as Farmer whom Lakers fans love) for 34 aged star can be a stupid trade if things don't work but Kidd can give Lakers cap space in 2 years(which you can sign Garnett or whatever later) and on paper - KB, Kidd, Odom looks a great triple threat and if Bynum can live up to the expectation and potential, they'll be one heck of a team. And if Kwame Brown is somehow not involved in this: (But does the contract match though? I don't think so as Kidd earns 20 mil next year)

Bynum
K.Brown (if not him than Collins (He is better defender than Brown)/Radmanovic/Odom/Cook)
Odom/Walton
KB
Kidd (I reckon he still can play at least 3 more years at high level)

If Kwame is kept, that team looks like a contender imo, or even if Jason Collins come, move Odom at power forward and Walton at SF. And with Phil Jackson as a coach, they'll gel together pretty well imo.

But realistically, LA will deal Kwame, Farmar, Mckie, Mihm, and a 2007 1st rounder for Kidd, filler, and a 2nd round pick. There was a report in clublakers.com (not trustworthy source though) that both have agreed to the trade and deal will be done by 8pm Est (5pm Pacific). There was also another rumour that Kwame Brown is currently being examined by Nets medical staff. Meh.

There was another trade rumour involving Carter for Pierce for the Nets. Bah, more rebuilding for the Nets?

Allen, Turkey's Okur named NBA All-Star replacements

AFP
February 13, 2007
NEW YORK (AFP) - Turkish forward Mehmet Okur of the Utah Jazz and Seattle SuperSonics guard Ray Allen were selected as injury replacements for Sunday's National Basketball Association All-Star Game.

NBA commissioner David Stern named both players to the Western Conference team for the annual All-Star classic Sunday in Las Vegas. He has named four of the 12-man roster for the West due to injuries.

Allen and Okur were selected to replace guards Steve Nash of Phoenix and Allen Iverson of Denver, who are each sidelined by injuries. Canada's Nash has a sore right shoulder while Iverson has a sprained right ankle.

And Kidd is in doubt as well with back injury. (or is it?) It's been confirmed that he'll miss two Nets game (Spurs today and Raptors tomorrow) already. Also, Baron Davis will have a surgery. Once a injury prone, always a injury prone.

Arenas with 9 pts in 3-15 fg and 0-8 in 3pt. To go with 5 rebound, 2 assists with 5 turnovers in 33 minutes.
Furthermore:

"When you tell a team: 'Hey, we don't have Antawn anymore. We can't outscore people. You've proven that we can't outscore people anymore. "We're who we are. We're a high-scoring team. We're a running team. That's what we do. We're a high-scoring caliber team."

QUOTE
"That's just plain stupid," Jordan said of Arenas' comments about playing defense. "The whole idea of us having to have to play defense better, is that a problem or is that a question? That's ludicrous.

They are having a go at each other again.

EDIT: Nets at home is getting blown to pieces by Spurs. Gosh! 20+ pts blowout.
New Jersey Nets is now 11-25 without Kidd....

EDIT 2: Ric Bucher just said on ESPN that the Lakers need a third team to complete the deal. Kidd and Bibby was mentioned.

Atlantic Division title over for the Nets? Raptors are on fire lately and if this streak continues, Nets won't even make it to the playoff. Tank the season and get Oden! smile.gif Well I expected the loss anyway, without Jefferson, Krstic and most of all Kidd missing with injuries, what can you do? Losing Kidd hurts us the most. As I've said, we are 11-27 without Kidd. It's like the Suns, Kidd is the heart and soul of our team. He is our leader and sometimes, as pathetic as this sound, he tells coach Frank what to do and organises our offence and defence. And I'll eat my word about Marcus Williams being a future all-star. He just reminded me of younger Marbury or Francis without consistent jumper and shot - more of shooting first pass 2nd pg.

On positive note though, I'm more and more impressed with Nachbar. Excellent consistent shooter unlike House - inconsistent and only knows how to chuck (but he had a good game).

Hawks G Johnson named as East All-Star replacement

February 14, 2007
LAS VEGAS (Ticker) - Jason Kidd's pain is Joe Johnson's gain.

Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks was named Wednesday as an injury replacement for the Eastern Conference All-Star team.

The selection was made by NBA commissioner David Stern, who has already chosen one-third of the West's 12-man roster.

Kidd, the eight-time All-Star point guard of the New Jersey Nets, was forced to pull out of Sunday's All-Star Game due to a strained lower back.

That ended up giving Johnson, a sixth-year shooting guard, the chance to play in his first All-Star Game.

"I'm happy and excited to be named to the Eastern Conference team," Johnson said. "Obviously, I'm looking forward to my first All-Star experience. It's a tremendous honor and accomplishment for me, my coaches, teammates and the organization."

Johnson is also the first member of the Hawks to be selected to an All-Star Game since forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim in 2002.

"This is great news for Joe and the organization," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. "He's put himself in this position by playing like an All-Star all season long. We feel he's one of the top players in the league, and this selection validates it."

Johnson is 10th in the league in scoring at 25.1 points per game and is also averaging 4.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds. He has recorded 30 or more points 16 times.

Johnson is the first injury replacement for the Eastern Conference. The West has lost four players to injuries - center Yao Ming, forward Carlos Boozer and guards Steve Nash and Allen Iverson. Stern selected forwards Carmelo Anthony of Denver and Josh Howard of Dallas, guard Ray Allen of Seattle and center Mehmet Okur of Utah as injury replacements.

Well deserved imo. I'm also glad that Kidd is resting. We need him back to full health so we can make a late push for playoff spot like we did in 04/05 season.
