I thought I should start this. The January transfer season is coming up and we have been linked with many players. So instead of people making seperate threads for every rumour, all rumours posted here! Post people you think we should buy, if any.

Some players we have been linked with:
Christiano Ronaldo
Roy Keane
Robben
Lampard
Podolski

And Maxi Lopez is said to be leaving.
bob dylan
Well first off, its CRISTIANO Ronaldo, *spellcheck* laugh.gif

I don't think we need another striker, simply because we have Eto'o, who looks like he'll guarantee us 20 goals MINIMUM this season (bar any injuries) and we have subs in the likes of Larsson, Maxi Lopez, and players like Ezquerro who can take that centre forward role.

Roy Keane might have been useful 5 years ago, not now.

Robben and Lampard, I really don't see Mourinho letting go of them. Possibly Robben, but somehow I don't see how we need him. He wouldn't get much more playing time here than he does at Chelsea. Unless we played this kind of formation

-----------------------Eto'o--------------------------
-------------------Ronaldinho-----------------------
----Robben----------Xavi----------Messi/Giuly----
--------------------Edmilson------------------------
--Sylvinho/Gio------------------Oleguer/Belletti--
-------------Marquez-------Puyol-------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
----------------------Valdes-------------------------

But to play that formation, we're excluding players like Deco, Van Bommel, Iniesta, etc. etc.
And our Current Formation is working, why change it? It won us the title.
Robben is an attack-minded player, and needless to say we don't really need any more creativity up front. Somehow I get the feeling if you put Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Messi, Deco and Xavi in a room with paintbrushes and a canvas, they would paint a masterpiece.

Nothing I'd really like during this January Transfer Window, but for next season I'd like some Keeper competition, and maybe a new, pacey centre back.

Also a young striker could be useful, but i'm talking as pure back-up/fringe player, as when Larsson retires I see Maxi as his replacement.

I don't want them to do a single thing in the winter transfer market OTHER THAN loan out Maxi Lopez so the guy can play!!!! He needs minutes, and he is 21 and full of potential. Let the kid grow at a smaller club for 6 months, then re-evaluate the situation.

But no new players, no need. We didn't need Baptista this year, and we don't need anyone else this year.

FC Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain has suggested that Argentinian striker Maxi López will leave the club in November after playing just 14 minutes of first-team football this season. The former CA River Plate player is already receiving interest from a host of Primera División clubs, with Begiristain having said that he "needs to play more and we have to find a team for him".

Yea, agreed. It's looking likely that Maxi will be loaned so I'm glad. Other than that, we really don't need to make any moves unless we're hit with a big injury bug.

Agreed. Barca is on an unstoppable roll and with all the heavily one-sided scorelines I really don't think any transfers are necessary, except like you said maybe loaning out Maxi Lopez. I wouldn't sell him just yet...just a loan. Because remember what happened when Barca loaned out Riquelme and then sold him? laugh.gif

Don't you guys feel abit stupid getting rid of Riquelme? If he had stayed at Barca, there wouldn't have to be rumours as your problems would of been solved
Nando.
Barca and Riquelme werent a good fit. He needs to be the focal point, the center of everything like he was at Boca and he is at Villareal now. He just didnt fit in at Barca.

What problems are you talking about? If you haven't noticed, we have scored 30 goals in 12 games. We are on course to scoring 90 goals this season. Ronaldinho and Eto'o are the top scorers in La Liga. Ronaldinho is the top scorer in the CL. We are 1st place in the league.

We have no problems.

What problems are you talking about exactly? Barça have none at the moment really, especially when our attack is concerned. If anything, Riquelme would've been the problem because we're simply stacked in quality when it comes to the midfield department. Like nand0 pointed out, in order for Riquelme to succeed he needs to be the focal point of the attack and at Barça he simply wouldn't have been. Roman is a pure attacking midfielder (with no defensive capabilities), whereas the system we play requires CM's who are complete all-around midfielders (such as Xavi, Deco, Van Bommel).

Also, he was receiving insane wages and we can't afford to have an unhappy player sitting on the bench and earning a large amount of money. Riquelme has undeniable talent, but whichever way you look at it, he was simply not a fit at Barça.

Yeah there really are no problems with Barca right now, they're playing insane football.

BTW when I said remember what happened with Riquelme, I was referring to the fact that you sold him and then we beat Barca 3-0 and then tied 3-3 last season laugh.gif , not that it was stupid to let him go.

Yeah, and that Forlan hat-trick cost Eto'o the Pichichi too sad.gif

Was a mental colapse by our team that day.

Anyhow, I'm gald it looks like he is going to get to play in the kockout phase of the CL (if all goes well in the last group stage match).... we get more money from you then smile.gif
MaRtin!
I want to see C.Ronaldo playing in Barca, noone other because barca haas got good team without new guys!

Barça are the last team on earth that needs new players.

It's a pitty because I like transfer rumours a lot.

For next year I would like us to strenghten our team (if possible)

We could go for Henry to replace Larson who will finish his career probably at the end of the season.

I would like to have a new goallie; maybe Casillas or Kameni.

I would like to have another Puyol-like player, maybe Perea or Milito.

It's a pitty we have such a strong midfield so we can't add Ballack next summer. He is transfer free.

Or we could just skip another year, not buying any players. This way we can reduce our debts dramatically.
MUIE
barca doesnt need any new players! we are the best, we cant improve more than that....
this is what happens to many teams who reach the top: the try to do even better and then they start going down.....

I had a thought, with Casillas looking ever the more likely to leave Madrid as a result of their complete lack of Madridista commitment to the shirt, and his own ensuing contract negotiations, could there be works in the background for Laporta to snatch him up, i'm sure he'd like to get on the winning side of the player who twice destroyed his defence in one game and put the ball past him both times. Also would be payback for Figo laugh.gif

Would you Cule's welcome him as (most likely) a replacement for Valdes?

If Casillas came to Barcelona, I would cry...

...Out of joy. Of course I'd welcome him. He is the best keeper in the world. We could really use him. Not only would our defense be one of the best in the world, but Madrid would be out of the title race this year, if we get him January. IMO, A goalie and a left or right back is all we need. If we had to give 20 million for him, I'd go for him. He is that good.

I'd welcome him with open arms! Seriously, who wouldn't want Casillas? If it wern't for him, we would have hammered Madrid 5 or 6! Would definately welcome him, and would actually prefer to forget about Henry and use the money to buy Casillas.

Fabio Aurelio's contract talks with Valencia broke down....Barca were said to be interested earlier, now man united are in on the hunt as well.

He is 26 years old, Brazilian, very good left back/left sided midfielder. He is very techinically gifted, he has good ball skill and passing. It seems that he would be a good addition to barca because he is versatile, and sylvinho and Gio are both in their thirties.

Barca might be able to use Saviola as part of the deal, who knows really.

By the way, i do not think he has a EU passport, but maybe he will get one soon.

Yea, there were some rumors a while back but they haven't resurfaced as of yet. He'd be a decent acquisition, especially since he'd be on the free in the summer. I'd like us to push for Atletico's Antonio Lopez, but I don't see them selling. Patrice Evra would also be rather cheap but I haven't heard anything about him in a while, how's he doing?

yeah i never really saw Casillas going to barca...it seemd to defie firmly rooted laws of nature.

with the news that Xavi is out, i think Barca need to buy another midfielder.

Auerlio's contract negotiations are still a long way from being wrapped up (it seems atleast) and i think he would be a valuable addition for the future.

If i were txiki or laporta or whoever decides, i would buy Gago and Aurelio, but im not sure if thats possible with the EU/non EU situation at Barca.

Gago is a good midfield player, simmilar in many ways to Xavi. He is a good tackler and a very good passer, i think he would fit in well at barca. And he is 19 years old, so he has a lot of playing in front of him.

I think Iniesta is better than both of those players. Plus Van Bommel will be back in January, and we have Motta and Gabri and Edmilson. I don't think we'll buy anyone in the winter. I could be wrong, but that's what I think.

Ever Guzman, Carlos Vela's strike partner on Mexico's U17 side, will try out for Barca from December 11-17. If Barca likes what they see, they will sign the Morelia player and he would join his countryman and teammate Giovanni Dos Santos.

Once again, great agility on Barca's part on the youth front.

We have already agreed that we don't need any reinforcements to the team in this winter transfer window. And with the look of the team at the moment, how we are playing. How many new players do we really need to bring in this summer?

Goalkeepers: Valdes(23), Jorquera(26), Ruben(21). No reinforcements needed here, I only see Valdes getting better and better. And we have perfect cover in Jorquera, also a being Cantera player(which means he is loyal to Barca) and he is fully capable of playing in almost any of the other La Liga clubs. Ruben looks to be talented, and could be loaned out in the future to give him some playing time, perhaps in Segunda Division. We also still own Rüstü, who is loaned out to Fenerbahce, but I can't see any reason to retain him, as he doesn't have a EU passport.

Defenders: Belletti(29), Marquez(26), Puyol(27), Gio(30), Edmilson(29), Oleguer(25), Sylvinho(29), Damia(23). It might not be urgent, but at some point we need a new player or two here. Looking at it, we have 5 players who can play as right back(Belletti, Puyol, Oleguer, Gabri and Damia). 4 players who can play as a central defenders(Marquez, Puyol, Edmilson and Oleguer) and two players who can play as left back(Gio and Sylvinho). It's also noteworthy that we have loaned out Fernando Navarro(23) to Mallorca, he can play both central and left back, and Oscar Lopez(25) to Betis he is a left back. With these two back in the fold once the season is over, we would actually have 4 players to cover the left back position and 5 players to cover the center. At some point I think we might need a class back or two. But we can't really complain over the job Oleguer and Sylvinho/Gio are doing at the moment.

Midfielders: Motta(23), Xavi(25), Gabri(26), Deco(28), Van Bommel(28), Iniesta(21). This is a pretty strong midfield to cover three spots. For the Defensive midfield we have 6 players who are actually able to cover it, some better than other(Motta, Xavi, Van Bommel, Marquez, Gio and Edmilson). And for the two center midfield positions we have 6 players to cover(Motta, Xavi, Van Bommel, Deco, Gabri and Iniesta). There is no need to bring any new players in here, Deco and Van Bommel have atleast 3-4 good years ahead of them, the rest...well lets just say we have excellent cover here.

Attackers: Larsson(34), Giuly(29),Ronaldinho(25), Eto'o(24), Maxi(21), Ezquerro(28, turns 29 on Wednesday) and Messi(18). Again excellent cover, with Giuly being the only one limited to the right side, the rest can pretty much play anwhere in the attack. The only replacement we need could be one for Larsson who will probably leave the club this summer. But then again, we have Saviola loaned out, he could be retained or Maxi could simply be given the chance.

I thought that Guzman was a better player than Vela and Dos Santos every time he came on as substitute. He always wanted the ball, dribbled players all the time and looked to be very calm and mature despite his age.

Well it proves that Barça is planning for the future, although granted there not "home grown" in the sense of the word, but they are raised through our youth system till they can get onto the first team or be sold.

I saw an article in sport.es that has barca & juventus trying to sign Rodrigo Palacio from Boca Jrs. This 23 yr old guy is AMAZING. He has been playing out of his mind in the last few months and has led Boca to 1st place in Argentina. I personally would love to have him, but where would he fit in??? Maxi is still riding the bench...

BTW- Palacio has a european citizenship so it would not affect Barcas foreign player limit...

Any truth in this basically means that Maxi will replace Larsson as 2nd in line for the striker position, while this Palacio guy would take Maxi's current spot. Although I heard Juve have already finalised their deal.

If that is true, Juve just locked up an impressive young forward. Don't be suprised if he squeeks onto the Argentine Nat'l team by next June.

Juve To Negotiate With Boca For Palacio
-----------------------------------------------

According to Argentine press Juventus has offered Boca Juniors $US 6 million for the services of talented striker Rodrigo Palacio.
Boca are likely to reject the offer, but has stated that they are willing to negotiate a possible transfer in the near future. Boca president Mauricio Macri will sit down to talk with Juventus officials in the first days of January.

In recent weeks Spanish champions Barcelona has also shown interest in the striker, who was snapped up by Boca earlier in the year from Southerners Banfield. Since arriving at Boca Palacio has made a huge impact and his recent good form may give him an outside chance of being selected in Argentina's 2006 World Cup squad.

Palacio has scored 10 goals so far in the Apertura Championship, as well as scoring on five occasions in the Copa Sudamericana.
-----------------------------------------------

Seeing as we already have Maxi, with Juve leading the race, I doubt Barça will make a grand move for him unless he's really something special.

Yeah..It would be great if they let us play with 12 players. tongue.gif

UEFA should make us play with 10 players to make it fair to the rest of Europe. bigsmile.gif

Maybe in 3 years our team will look like this:

--------Eto'o-------Guzman----------
-R10--------Dos Santos-----Messi--
-----Deco-------Xavi----Iniesta----
-----------------Motta----------------
----------P---U---Y---O---L----------
----------------Valdes----------------

Damià Abella will go on loan to Racing Santander for the second half of the season and for the 06/07 season. I hope he gets valuable experience and maybe come back someday although it looks like he'll be forgotten like other youngsters.

I like this kid and think that he can be a great RB for you guys. He is pretty skillful and coordinated for a guy of his height.

hi guyz....i am new to this forum....

anyways, heard the rumour that damia will be loaned out...well he will earn valuable experience there but i wonder whether he will be back in barca squad because i cant remember a player coming back after loaned...saviola,riquelme,rochemback,giovanni etc.
i like this guy but there is so much quality with this barca that it has hard for him to earn a place...

Hi,

This is not really for the January Transfers but i mention it here anyway.

I just read on a belgian website that Deco could be transfered out of camp nou...
Apparently their source was from AS.
I looked this up and found this..
http://www.as.com/articulo.html?d_date=&xr...nchor=dasftbA00
my spanish is not that good but it seems to say that they could sell Deco to buy Henry.

I think this would be horrible as I personally hate Henry and I like Deco, and I also prefer eto'o in front.

I sure hope this does not go through and that these are just silly rumours.
I wonder who they would replace Deco with then..

Very unlikely. I think AS are just getting into the "silly season" right before the January transfer window. Deco for Henry, a midfielder, important to Barça's free flowing game, for an ageing goalscorer, granted a great player, but an ageing one, injury prone also, nonetheless? When we have Samuel Eto'o, who is young and is already among the top goalscorers in the bigger European leagues.

It would be a very bad move by Barça if it went through.

EDIT: My bad amigo, Welcome to SP!! It's a late night, i'm missing details here laugh.gif Hope to see you more in this forum!
