How many people actually play Aussie Rules here? I have played for 5 years now last year for the Kingston Tigers in the Southern Football League in Tassie. We finished 5th this year and got booted out in the elimation final. The first 4 years that I played with Sandy Bay Lions and we won the premiership in my last year which was wicked. Footy has almost no place in schools unlike Melbourne, so everyone relies on club teams, even though it is in a shambles now, dont even have a statewide league anymore, only north and south.

Anyway Demons are much better. Bartram, davey, Mclean and Sylvia are EXCELLENT young prospects. And then we have the veteran Neitz and the high flying duo of Robertson and Yze. We then have an unbeatable backline of Carrol, Miller, Rivers, ferguson and Bell plus a supurb midfield of Green, Bruce, mclean and White. We are simply the best mate face it.

Franklin is a gun. Can play back and up forward.

Hawks are looking very good for the future, but I have developed a deep hatred for them after they flogged the cats both times this year by 50+ points Hopefully we can regain some pride in Launnie in round 4, ill definately be there, although they should be playing down here in Hobart.

Spider is a good ruckman but I'm not sure he was such a great influence on the rest of the team. Anyway Demons'll win 2007 for sure. They're lookin' good.

AFL give Michael deal the all clear

Essendon Football Club today welcomed an AFL finding that has cleared the way for Mal Michael to join the Club via the upcoming pre-season draft.

An AFL investigation had been conducted for the past two weeks after Michael announced he had signed a two-year deal to play with Essendon - overturning a decision to retire from the game.

In response to media enquiries this afternoon, Essendon Managing Director Peter Jackson said the Club wasn’t surprised by the outcome.

"We are not surprised or even relieved by the AFL finding in relation to how Essendon Football Club acted in this matter, it is exactly what we expected," Essendon Managing Director Peter Jackson said.

However, Jackson said the Club had been most disappointed with suggestions that it had in some way acted improperly.

"We are aware the AFL was asked to investigate if any third party had acted in a way prejudicial to the draft and clearly some people have implied Essendon Football Club had been involved in some wrong doing. That is a suggestion that reflects on everyone at this club and we have every right to be offended by it," Jackson said.

"I have been most disappointed with the insinuation that this football club was involved in any wrong doing over the events that led to Mal Michael joining the Essendon Football Club.

"I take absolute exception to anyone – media or otherwise – questioning the integrity of this club over what has transpired and this position has been vindicated by the findings of the AFL.

"On this occasion some sections of the media – and some commentators – have reached conclusions without the full facts of the matter or, in some cases, without even talking to the club. Perhaps some of these people might now take the opportunity to set the record straight."

Michael is expected to join Essendon’s pre-season training later this month.

I think unless they are betting on their own matches or big sums of money on other matches then it shouldnt matter much. Some of these bets are so insignificant like $5 on who will score first in the 2006 grand final. Is that such a major bet??? well round 2 has already started. Sucked in Carlton you got owned by the Cats. Now I think we all know that Essendon will win this year. S*** they played so well against Adelaide, Lucas kicked 7! We play Freo today, fuck, they better play like they did last week.

Yeah carlton got smashed. Would expect Freo to perform better than they did against the power last week.

Hawthorn had a good win too, first match i have gone to where we have won in ages. Especially satisfying to beat Melbourne too

Hawthorn were great in certain periods of that game which i watched. The midfield just had to much pace and movement for the demons. The injury to Nietz was a massive blow for them though. Williams is a great player.

It was a frustrating match, got dominated in the first quarter, we dominated the next two before almost choking at the end. Williams is quality in small periods, like in the third quarter he kicked 4-5 goals but was fairly quiet for the rest of the match.
Neitz's injury happened right in front of me, looked like it was only a little jarring of the knee but was much worse
