So frustrating having the match at the Telstra Dome rather than the 'G. Means i cant go to the match and will have to watch it on tv, hopefully we can somehow recover from that demolition and play at the 'G the week after against North or Geelong

That's more like it Tom
There's Only One United
If crows beat hawks and port lose to west coast then it will be a Showdown in Adelaide the week afer which will be massive with the loser going out and the winner to the pre-lim final. Is quite possible that it could actually happen.

edit: Just realised i'm wrong laugh.gif

That would've been the case if Hawthorn won but since they lost whoever wins the hawks v crows match will play the loser of the geelong v kangaroos game. I'll look it all up in the paper tomorrow anyway!
aussie_for_life
will there be tickets available for the hawthorn-crows match. cus im goin over there and i wanna se a match at the telstra dome.

i think tickets for the hawthorn-crows match get released to the general public on wednesday and got released to members today so it could be tough to get in.

Nice work.
I got tickets to Hawthorn-Adelaide, might go to Kangaroos-Geelong if i feel like it on Sunday.
God i cannot wait for Australia-Argentina, its going to be awesome just to see Messi let alone all the other players
Bob Loblaw
Has anyone seen how the votes went for the rising star award? Everyone put Selwood first and Pendlebury second except for one guy who had it the other way around.
aussie_for_life
yeh well full credit to those 2 selwood and pendulbury

theyve had exceptional years and they have looked like theyve been playin the AFL for 10 years

selwoods speech was pretty cute too (not too sound wierd or anything) but the way he was almost in tears when talkin bout his parents
There's Only One United
Should've heard eddie mcguire go off on Adelaide radio this arvo. He was pissed off that no Collingwood players are in that 40 man sqaud laugh.gif
aussie_for_life
hahahahahaha eddies such an idiot although i think heath shaw may of deserved a mentions other then that hes really got no point in complainin
Scousy
Yeah, but Eddie probably thinks that Buckley deserved to be in the squad. He's such a puller.

Congrats to Selwood, fully deserved.
Adeeb
im a tiger. Go richmond! lol we ended up bottom of the ladder this season, but we started to pick up our game towards the end of the season
George Foreman.
Hawks-Crows was fucking fantastic. At 3/4 time i was like were fucked, but with seven seconds left Franklin scores his 7th. His a fucking legend.
aussie_for_life
what an absolute classic, one of the greatest matches seen unfortunatly my eagles didnt win it. weve failed to close out the last 3 matches and it cost big time

anywho looking ahead to next year. fully fit Judd, Kerr and Cousins......i cant wait!

George Foreman.
What an awesome game for a neutral. Never expected it to go to extra time, and what a classic it was
There's Only One United
Was a good game in terms of how close it was but some of the skills could've been better. Still think Geelong will smash Collingwood this week, although they're lucky that it's on the MCG which is thier home ground. So many close games in the finals again this year.
aussie_for_life
why is this thread so dead? theres so much happeningin the world of afl. first off

Farewell Chris Judd (and rebecca twigley)
i was so sad so see him return to melbourne, but still what a champion and he has won everything with my eagles over just 6 years amazing that. i still remain confident a judd-less eagles can challenge in a premiership next year.

only 4 teams left! huge huge match probly bigger then the final itself Gellong - Pies on friday night. and the other less interesting match roos n port

all australian selection tonight, not gonna make my team although i expect jonathan brown to be named captian
George Foreman.
So upset with the Hawks

Hodge, Mitchell and Franklin better make the AAT
There's Only One United
I can understand Judd's decision, he's done it all at West Coast already and now wants to go back home. It also seems like West Coast may not be right up there as in the past as was seen this year so he probably sees it as a good time to get out, although they still have a very decent sqaud.

Here's a good article which discusses his options.

QUOTE

WEST Coast skipper Chris Judd is flying east, and the big question is: where exactly will he land? afl.com.au’s Matt Burgan takes a look at the likely – and less likely – contenders for his services.

THE FRONT-RUNNERS

Carlton
With president Richard Pratt at the helm and renewed financial strength, the Blues are in pole position to secure Judd’s services. They have the bargaining power of some high draft selections ahead of the October exchange period, including picks No.1, 3 and 20 in the November NAB AFL Draft.

Collingwood
Regularly linked with high-profile recruiting prospects, the Magpies will again be in the hunt this time round. With a Collingwood contract comes plenty of incentives: cash, first class facilities, business contacts, and more. Skipper Nathan Buckley is nearing retirement, which would leave the captaincy vacant sometime in the near future. The flipside of the black and white coin is that Collingwood is arguably the most scrutinised Victorian club. Would that influence Judd's decision?

Essendon
The Dons are about to begin a new era without four-time premiership coach Kevin Sheedy and champion James Hird – and they’d love a ready-made champion to fill Hird’s boots. There’s plenty of uncertainty at Windy Hill, which could make the move there more or less attractive, depending on your view. Of course, a new senior coach may well be installed in time for the October 8-12 trade week.

Hawthorn
Hawthorn's recruiting model has paid dividends this year, with list manager Chris Pelchen one of the best in the business come trade time. Although an over-achiever, Judd is just 24, and certainly not too old for the Hawks’ needs. They’re a happy club on the rise, and with Richie Vandenberg retiring and the captaincy available, Judd may well find Glenferrie a perfect fit.

Melbourne
Judd barracked for the Demons as a boy, and they’ll be more than keen to put a sentimental touch on his homecoming. As with Essendon, there’s a new era unfolding at Melbourne with Dean Bailey at the helm. With Judd’s top priority reportedly family rather than megabucks, perhaps the Demons are a genuine prospect.

THE OUTSIDERS

St Kilda
The Saints having signed up some key stars this year, including Nick Riewoldt and Nick Dal Santo, and may not have the salary cap for Judd – or would have to re-jig their total player payments accordingly.

Geelong
With the competition’s strongest list, the Cats arguably have less need for a player of Judd’s calibre than any other Victorian club. Chance of success may be a lure for Judd, but if he’s moving to Melbourne to be close to family, it’s hard to see him heading off down the highway.

Kangaroos
The Roos' future has been the subject of much debate in recent years, and with a Gold Coast move potentially on the cards, they seem an unlikely fit for a Melbourne-bound Judd. Still, they are a tight-knit playing group, a team that continually delivers over a long period of time, and a lower profile club. All of which could be attractive.

Western Bulldogs
After a disappointing season, the Dogs have already signaled their intentions to rejuvenate their list. Retirements and delistings leave room for a big inclusion, and they could be a dark horse to snaffle Judd. Last year, the Dogs acquired Jason Akermanis via the trade period and will doubtless want to have a crack at this year's biggest name.

Richmond
Richmond holds some key cards in the drafting order – No.2, No.18 and No.19 – in November and it will be eager to be in the Judd mix. Where the Tigers sit though for Judd will be interesting, considering the yellow and black finished on the bottom this year. Richmond will no doubt be eager to reinvigorate its list and what better way to start with Judd.
Scousy
How is the Geelong v Collingwood game bigger than the grand final? Collingwood are going to get absolutely hammered, and everyone apart from Pies fans will thoroughly enjoy it. Boringly, I predict a Geelong v Port Adelaide GF, with the Cats winning by a fair margain, maybe 6 or so goals.

Sam Mitchell won't make the All Australian team, and neither should Franklin. No doubt he's immensely talented and already is a good player, but he is one for the future and if you look at his season purely on its merits, he shouldn't make the All Australian team. It wouldn't suprise me if he did though, the selecters are retarded. The fact that Nick Riewoldt even made the 40 player short list makes me sick to my stomach. He is perhaps the most overrated footballer in the past decade that I can remember.

I hope Nathan Foley makes the team, he's a fantastic player on a shithouse team, he deserves to be picked, but because of who he plays for and where they finished he won't. I don't expect anyone to agree with me on this, mostly because he gets next to zero press.

As for the Judd situation, I think the only place he can go is Carlton. They're the only Melbourne club who have something the Eagles would be interested trading for (I'm thinking Fev, pick 1 and pick 3 would be fair) and have room in their salary cap for Judd. I'm praying that the Eagles can't broker a deal with anyone for him so he goes to the pre-season draft where Richmond have the number one pick biggrin.gif
aussie_for_life
anyone know how much say judd gets in the choice of clubs?

and i think franklin deserves AA cus he plays as a small foward as well as a leading mark target. and tbh there has not been that many fowards who have had great years so i think franklin should
George Foreman.
Where was the shortlist for it? And whens does it gets drawn?

Judd at Hawthorn would be immense, would be great to replace Richie who im going to miss so much, but just wont happen. I dont know why Richie retired though. He was only 30 but his decision i guess.
aussie_for_life
gets drawn tonite doesnt it? and franklin is in the shortlist
There's Only One United
Apparently this is the team so far that's been announced:

B: Scarlett (Geel), Glass (WCE), Milburn (Geel)

HB: McLeod (Adel), Egan (Geel), Brown (Haw)

C: K Cornes (PA), Bartel (Geel), C Cornes (PA)

Ruck: Cox (WCE), Kerr (WCE), G Ablett (Geel)

HF: Johnson (Geel), Brown (Bris), Harvey (Kang)

FF: Johnson (WB), Pavlich (Frem), Mooney (Geel)
George Foreman.
Hodge doesnt make it. Typical. The boys been immense
There's Only One United
And finally to make the sqaud complete:

INT: Corey (Geel), Fletcher (Ess), Lade (PA), Ling (Geel)

So that makes 8 Geelong players then.
aussie_for_life
cox, kerr and glass all deserve it, full credit boys!

I count 9. I think all Geelong player that were in the 40 man squad made the team. Pretty impressive.
vyacheslav
I'm just glad Campbell Brown made it, if he hadn't been selected then it would have been a complete farce, best small back in the competition by a long way
There's Only One United
Ah yes you would be correct Will. I Think i forgot one of the bench players.

Wonder if it's any indication that Ablett may get quite a few brownlow votes taken off him by the other Geelong players given many of them had good seasons. He is under the umpires eye though a lot and stands out so he will still get a lot of votes regardless I guess.
Scousy
Yeah, I don't think players like Scarlett and Egan, as good as they are, will poll many Brownlow votes.
Bob Loblaw
I only got back from a cadet camp last night and have been confronted with all of this news about Judd. Geez, I never actually thought he would leave.
There's Only One United
Collingwood v Geelong is pretty tight at the moment. Still anyones game with not long to go which is what you want to see in a pre-lim final.
aussie_for_life
i stand by my statement that the geelong - collingwood match is going to be bigger then the grand final, outstanding match abletts goal in the 4th was chriss judd-like
There's Only One United
Geelong deserve to be in the grand final so it was only fitting that they won. 2nd pre-lim final about to start now. Feel like I'm the only person in Adelaide more interested in the Wellington v Adelaide United match compared to Port v Kangaroos which are on at the same time!
George Foreman.
Collingwood-Geleong was one of the best games ive seen. So intense. Me and my cousin were watching it and he was a Pies supporter. Loved evry minute of the game
There's Only One United
Brownlow Medal tomorrow night so who is everyones favourite for the award?
George Foreman.
Obviously Ablett, but i wouldnt count out Chad Cornes, Jimmy Bartel and Sam Mitchell tbh
aussie_for_life
id hate it if boomer harvey wins it. my top 5-

ablett

mitchell
There's Only One United
Also Rebecca Twigley for best dressed is my tip if previous years are anything to go by tongue.gif
George Foreman.
Theres no more International Rules is there?
There's Only One United
Din't know actually. Don't think there is. Anyway well done to Jimmy Bartel on winning the brownlow, fine effort indeed.
aussie_for_life
yeh congratulations to jimmy bartel he completely deserved and had a stellar year. although i thought ablett got robbed of a few like when he had 35 touches against brisy and only poll 1

i wanted to write this yesterday but something fucked up anywho i saw jimmy the week before they played collingwood, he was eating lunch with fev at fevs resteraunt. i said 'good luck mate' and he said 'thanks mate, apreciate it' nice moment
George Foreman.
Ye Jimmy been on fire. Good on him.

GO CATS! even though im an eagles supporter i cannot stand port and i hope geelong gives them an almighty touchup. however its going to be a very tough game to find a clear winner and i think itll only be won by under 10 points
George Foreman.
^ LOL how wrong you were!!

Geelong by a massive 119 points. They have done the quadruple. Well in Cats!
There's Only One United
Just work up in time for the game to see it start. Absolutely thrashed them. Looked like men against boys at times. Cats really deserved it so was pleased for them.
aussie_for_life
