Barry is gone for a very long time. Betting on how long he is going to be out for started straight after the match. I think it will be somewhere around 6 weeks, due to his poor record, but he'll be out for longer anyway due to his wrist snapping. Probably the worst game in his career.

There's Only One United
Will have to get 5-6 as a minimum going by how the tribunal works these days. If you did that outside of a football field you'd be in a bit of trouble. A bit of karma that he ended up getting injured I guess which may mean that he won't miss many games if he gets a long ban as he'll be out with the injury anyway.
Bob Loblaw
Well that was an interesting round. Carlton comfortably beat one of the teams expected to be in the Top 4, which is a good and bad thing. It is a bad thing because now they won't have the longest losing streak record, only equal. But it's a good thing because those Goddamn Magpies lost. Geez I hate Collingwood. Richmond smashed Freo by 60...AT SUBI!!! Freo are in freefall right now. Also Buddy has proved that he is in the very top quota of players in the AFL this evening. Kicked 6.3 on one of the best Full-backs in the league, without actually moving out of 2nd gear in all 4 quarters.
Scousy
Richo picked up 25 possies at Subi! What a legend.

Also, Josh Hunt has got to be the best kick in the game now that Nathan Buckley has retired
aussie_for_life
josh hunt is an extremly good kick but i think lindsay gilbee is better

While Gilbee does have a very long kick, Josh Hunt can kick the ball 50 metres and hit someone laces out, 9 out of 10 times. I agree with Scousy that he is one of the best in the league.

7 weeks which means that he can return in round 12. With his injury he'll probably only miss a few games when he is actually fit. Probably a good outcome is he shouldn't have got less and they were never going to give him to many.

THE AFL Tribunal has outed Sydney bad boy Barry Hall for seven weeks for his sickening punch to West Coast Eagle Brent Staker.
After a hearing that went just over an hour, the three-man panel only took seven minutes to rule that the much-publicised incident should earn 790 demerit points.

That means Hall is out for seven games and also has 90 carry-over points, meaning he is only 10 points shy of another one-match suspension.

As expected, Hall pleaded guilty to the striking charge, which has attracted widespread media attention.

His counsel, Terry Forrest QC, argued Hall should receive a 25 per cent discount on the penalty for pleading guilty and tribunal chairman John Hassett strongly advised the jury that the plea should affect their decision.

After the hearing a remorseful Hall said he was satisfied with the outcome.
Bob Loblaw

I am very surprised they picked Stanton ahead of Sewell, also Josh Fraser and Matthew Leuenberger. There are a few puzzling selections.
Scousy
No Nathan Brown? Very interesting. Although I'm a die hard Richmond supported, what is Kane Johnson doing in there?

Good to see Foley and Richo get guernseys though.

I counted 13 Cats players too laugh.gif

To be fair, Stanton is already one hundred times the player of a cheap possession hack like Sewell.

FWIW Neitz is supposedly announcing his retirement tomorrow morning...

Never mind the fact that Sewell won Hawthorn's best and fairest last year and came 3rd the year before. Trust me, you don't want to get into an argument with me over Sewell being better then Stanton. He is.

Anyway, I've also heard that there is going to be a press conference. If so, bad way for Neitz to be leaving, his team at the bottom of the ladder, possibly facing one of the worst seasons in their history. And yes, I did exaggerate with that last part.

ROFL, what a convincing argument

When Dutchy Holland also wins one, you know that the Hawthorn B&F in an average season is an award to be cherished.

Wait so your saying that Holland, before his shoulders gave way, was crap? He was All-Australian and how was last year average? Hawthorn came 5th, and please tell me where Essendon came in comparison to Hawthorn?

Nathan Brown has more important things to do than this game.

Kane Johnson's only there because he used to play for the Crows. As in, theres supposed to be some sort of "seeing him play for his own people" sort of mystique for crows fans.
There's Only One United
Franklin was great again last night with some terrific goals. 29 After 5 rounds and well on target to get 100 if he can stay fit and on form.
George Foreman.
8 goals. His a fucking machine and i love him. I was a bit scared Brisbane were going to come back, but we held strong.

Collingwood-Kangaroos last night was a very good game too.
There's Only One United
That game ruined my tips for the week though as I went for Collingwood and thought they were going to hold on in the end but got outclassed in the last quarter by the Kangaroos. There was a terrible bounce by the umpire in that game as well which went straight to the Kangaroos player and resulted in a goal.
Bob Loblaw
Well it is going to be Buddy and Fevola for the Coleman medal now. Those seem to be head and shoulders above everyone else so far.

Also the Doggies will be fairly pissed of about drawing with Richmond, but then again, Richmond will be even more pissed of for not winning when they were 4 goals up with 4 minutes to go.
Scousy
It was so shit. The telecast was delayed here because of the stupid V8 supercars being shown live instead, so I knew the result while watching the game which was even more frustrating. When we were 4 goals up I was just thinking "how can we possibly draw this game?!".

Also, I don't think I've seen anyone have as many bounces in a game as King had.
Carlo Gambino
hot damm the Geelong Sydney match was a good way to waste 2 hours on a Saturday. Sydney were in it for some good fractions of the game and looked poised to beat the premiers but they had a brain spasm in the last 10 mins of last quarter time. Goodes played like he had a cactus up his ass and that Gary Abblet destroyed them.

why do they have such a chat stadium Geelong? do they use MCG often?

Geelong isn't TECHNICALLY a suburb of Melbourne, it's a city/town. so i guess the MCG is just for the inner city suburbs/teams. Geelong love their home kardinia park, rightly so. i mean it's always tough to beat them there, they get there own 'special' ground.

And yeah Kardinia park is fair crap, but whatever floats the hillbillys boats i guess?

I've been a Melbourne fan my whole life.

Geelong is a fair drive from the MCG. Something like an hour and a half. Most people wouldn't be stuffed making that travel. Also I think they play their alternative home games at Telstra Dome Instead.

Anyway, as such Geelong were kind of forced to be the only team left staying at their suburban ground when all the other teams left in the late 90's. They've pumped a fair bit of money into it as well, used to be a lot worse.

At least you got to watch the game at all thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Despite the end result I'm still pretty happy with the result. I honestly thought we were going to get flogged. But we seem to playing admirebly and not acting as though our players are just not good enough.

Now the real test comes in Hawthorn at the G. Frankly a less than 30 point loss would be as good as a win to me.
There's Only One United
Freo were unlucky last night. Shouldn't complain about the lost 9 seconds at the end though as they were in control twice and couldn't finish them off. I thought when they got out to a decent the lead the first time Geelong would come back but I thought the were gone the second time.
Carlo Gambino
there was an article in todays paper about the difference between the AFL and NRL respective Anzac matches. besides having a crowd difference of about 70 000, the AFL one was much more authentic. it was presented more formally for the context and occasion and the pre-match parade absolutely blew whatever the NRL one put on.

lol at Essendon getting walloped by the pies.
Bob Loblaw
Kerr head butted Scott West a little while ago. He should be rubbed out for a couple of weeks, but if he isn't there is something wrong in the Match Review Panel.
Bob Loblaw
With the Sydney-Kangaroos draw this week and Richmond-Bulldogs last week, there is going to be more talk of a Golden Point or extra time system introduced. Don't care for those systems in footy, fine in soccer but not in footy.

Hawthorn played THE worst game I have ever seen us play today. We couldn't kick for sh*t, it was terrible. 22 behinds we scored, most of them from set shots too. Buddy kicked 1.7 or 2.6, something woeful like that.

I don't see the need for it in AFL either except for in the finals like what they do currently. The only reason AFL supporters don't like a draw is they are used to the concept of having a winner where as all of us here are more than used to having draws and both teams coming away with something,
Bob Loblaw
Kerr is gone for 5 weeks, 4 with early plea, and Josh Carr has 4 weeks, 3 with early plea.
Bob Loblaw
Do the players who were injured this week really think they are fooling anyone? Apart from Hodge, Riewoldt and Cox, all of these big name players just so happened to get injured the week before the Hall of Fame match. It is just absurd. If I was playing AFL and was good enough, I would be licking Kevin Sheedy's ball sack to get to play the match.
Carlo Gambino
Sydney is giving it to the Bulldogs right now.

gosh they have so much potential, but i can see them crumbling.

C: Foley Mitchell Goodes
HF: S.Johnson J.Brown Chapman
FF: Bradshaw Fevola Ablett
R: Fraser/Simmonds Bartel Judd
I/C: Roughead Fraser/Simmonds Harvey R.Murphy Waite Sewell

I couldn't split Simmonds and Fraser, and surprisingly the bench was the hardest place to do.

Dream Team
FB: S.Burgoyne Glass Johncock
HB: McLeod Rutten Bassett
C: Cornes Kerr Richardson
HF: Goodwin Pavlich Stokes
FF: Mooney Franklin Cooney
R: Cox Corey Cross
I/C: Bock S.Burgoyne Burton Charman(personally I would have Lade) Griffen Kennelly
There's Only One United
Looks like the Dream Team squad will line up as originally picked with only 1 or 2 players pulling out after a few players have passed fitness tests which is good to see as there was a risk that it would turn out a joke if lots of players decided to "rest" slight injuries instead of playing.
Bob Loblaw
Teams have been selected.

VICTORIA
B: C.Brown, Scarlett, Milburn
HB: Shaw, Croad, Waite
C: Harvey, Mitchell, Goodes
HF: O'Keefe, J.Brown, Murphy
F: S.Johnson, Fevola, Bradshaw
FOLL: Simmonds, Bartel, Judd
I/C: Fraser, Power, Chapman, Kelly, Foley, Pendlebury, J.Selwood
EM: Roughead, Sewell
Excluded from 30-man squad: Ablett (calf), Dal Santo, B.Johnson

DREAM TEAM
B: Johncock, Rutten, Bolton
HB: McLeod, Pavlich, Cooney
C: Richardson, Kerr, S.Burgoyne
HF: Goodwin, Mooney, D.Motlop
F: Burton, Franklin, Davis
FOLL: Cox, P.Burgoyne, K.Cornes
I/C: Bock, Charman, Corey, Stokes, Kirk, Griffen, Glass
EM: Bassett, Cross, Enright
Excluded from 30-man squad: Kennelly, McPharlin

How the hell are James Kelly, Pendlebury and Luke Power in the Vic team instead of Sewell. The Kelly decision was just favouritism by Mark Thompson. Also I doubt that Ryan O'Keefe has been better then Roughead, who has kicked 24 goals this season. Sure, you might think I'm arguing this due to the players being from Hawthorn but despite that, they should certainly be playing.

Fevola won it apparently which is not a surprise.

Kane Cornes is a little pansy boy. Campbell Brown came in to bump him and he fell over before he was touched. Also he tried to milk a free kick after Bateman pulled down his shorts, randomly just falling over.
