Assists belong to midfield some would say, and for a striker, goals are what matters most.

And he has 5 goals. 2nd most in the CL and has been the leading scorer up until Sheva's miracular performance. And still has managed to get 3 assists. That is definately a plus when you can have the 2nd most goals and 2nd most assists in the CL.

If goals were what matters then why do we even have this thread? Shevchenko should win automatically then, correct? And who do you think has been the best midfielder using your logic? Juninho because he has 3 goals but only 3 assists or Pienaar because he has 4 assists and no goals? And assists are what matter for midfielders right? So Pienaar has been better.

Anyway, I feel that Ruud is the best. A striker's job is to score goals and nobody does it better than him in the Champions League. His goals per games ratio is just amazing.
