"...Meantime, Adu's international image is about to receive a major boost. He confirmed that he has been invited to play in an international charity match in Duesseldorf, Germany, on Dec. 22 to raise money for poverty-relief efforts. The captains of the two squads will be Real Madrid superstars Ronaldo of Brazil and Zinedine Zidane of France"

WOW. That is a BIG Invite. If any American would be invited I would assume it LD or Beasley, not Adu.

Obviously invited for "media" reasons. I'm happy to see it, but I'll take it for what it's worth: media attention.

Beasley got invited to the sunami game. I think that one was bigger. Ronaldinho and Schevchenko were captains if I remember correctly.

I remember that CR, I wonder why he hasn't gotten any calls back, or maybe he has and turned them down?

I hope van Persie or Robben gets invited, nice thing for Adu, he can use some convidence on international stage among those big stars, not that quality of this match is high but maby he gets some feel of apriciation from the outside world then USA after that horrible U-21 performance(for god sake he was to young then to shine) where whole europe expected him to shine, he has the talent this could be a moral boost.

It was a U-20 preformance^
The game was today, and freddy played quite well. He beat a few defenders and received the ball quite a bit. He was definitely not out of his league. He played left wing and created quite a few chances, but his team was unable to score off of them. He played on Ronaldo and friend's team. He played 70+ minutes and was one of the last starters subbed. It was a good preformance by Freddy. He received quite an ovation when he was subbed from the crowd, mainly because he seemed to be the only one left on the field going atleast 60%.
