Well, i dunno how to answer that... but you could ask my friend Cristiano he would help ya
Mike_7
just practice...go on the road and let the ball roll....then just go...see how far down the street u can go without stopping
Reggie The 3rd
That sounds like an awesome way to get better at it..... I shall try that
m7792
I practice it at home
My house is messy so there are alot of stuff laying around the house
I dribble my way around it and do step overs/maradonna turns etc.......
It helps to practice in close quarters to train your control so you wont hit anything
or else you'll get an ear full from your parents
charon
i think the best one is to put cones down and sidestep them till you'll be fast enough and confident enough to step ova,
Nani's Manhood
at this place where i get drunk, we normally bring a football, and it is slightly sloped so i dribble as fast i can (down the slope) and do continueous step overs like robinho does against the corinthians.

See I taught Mike everything he knows about soccer, and I gave him that tip when he asked me to teach him how to play, and he's improved. Good job Mike. thumbsup.gif

Just stand still and do nice slow stepovers and once you can do them perfect try doing them it a bit faster (ball still static) then when you have mastered that start it moving slowly and do them slowly and so on....

You don't need to do alot in a match anyway... Just:

Dummy to the right with just your right foot Stepover once with your left then with the outside of your right boot kick it to the right then run past him..and you have passed your defender wink.gif

(You can do it the other way about if you're left footed smile.gif)
Stuck in the pen
this trick his hard for me to
when i am not playing i am always planing to do the step over
but when i start playing i just cant do it i dont know why!??
any way there is lot of tricks that looks like the step over...
Paulinho
for me it comes naturally...you cant think about it u just have to do
Ronaldo 7
dis trick is mostly for showing off but used to wrong foot the opponent, to be able to do this skill Fluently u need a big ego, and dont even CARE about losing da ball, u gota perform it in style dont jus do it like a routine, shud let it flow, Your mission is to punish an humiliate the opponent make sure u smile as well wen u pass by. Try not to make so much contact wiv da floor ( Being Heavy Footed).
dribblehumiliation
are u talking abouth the stepover having no purpose but showing off?
Sony-Fan
well, seriouslly i think it is, but its also an effective way to get pass some body
shutoutj
Oh yeah, it works, don't be fooled by the pundits.

Most off all, when you get good at doing stepovers. Put them to use, don't just midlessly show off during a game. "Tricks" are used to create space so apply the technique appropriately thumbsup.gif
Hitman
more practice..that's the only way..do it slowly first, and as you become more confident, increase your speed of doing it.
Mike_7
ye they arnt made for showing off...thats wha freestyle is for...if u can get good at tricks...they can be really usefull...but when u go overboard in games then i mean u look dumb especially when it dont work...like i mean if u stepover everygame to beat a defender its a good way but if u try to spin and elastico every game then like i said...you would look like ur trying to hard...once in a while i guess but u better make sure u pull it off!!
Sky
I wish I could capture the moment where Tevez tries a 360 but ends up stepping on the ball and falling flat on his ass....... so funny...... i bet it happened to most of you as well wink.gif
melburn
yeah i saw that on the news
mysterypro
A move to show off??? The step over is like the basis of 1/3 the moves in soccer.

Just make sure once you can do it that you "sell it" do it slow for awhile then speed up. Take your right foot over the front of the ball, leaning in that direction and turning your head in that direction to sell the fake. Then plant hard with the foot you used to stepover. By planting you stepover foot you can now instantly move the ball that just rolled to your feet in the direction opposite where you faked the opponent.

note- if your opponent is waiting patiently try to lollipop him, stepover right and while he's waiting to see what you do use your left foot to kick it through his legs. Or, if you're less ambitious, around him.
Tim14ManUtd
work on quickness in your feet... take a small cone and practice stepovers around it... when you feel you are really quick with your feet against the cone... then you would probably be perfect with the ball... might not work for you but it did for me

STEPOVERS help heaps in a match
gazb
The way to doing quick stepovers is make sure your on your toes as you are about to do them do not drag your feet just watch cristiano and make sure you dont do too many if im running at a defender i will somtimes just do one say with my right then use my left instep to knock it past him this works because it leaves the defender flat footed.

I Also Want To Speed Up My Stepovers I'm Practicing Alot ..But How Much Do U Guys Prefer To Practice A Day ? An Hour ? Half An Hour ?
one_united
When I try to do stepovers the ball is always ends up behind me and I kind of stumble over it (not in games only in practices, I dont do it during the game) Why does it happen ? what am I doing wrong? And what do I need to do right?
Oh and what is the difference between the scissor and the stepover?

As much as possible. Don't limit yourself. Practice according to how good you want to be.

You are not synchronizing yourself with the ball, ie ball moving too slow you're going to fast, or vice versa. When you do the move, make sure when the leg goes around the ball it comes back slightly behind the ball or right next to it, not ahead of it. Practice form first THEN speed.

Alright thanks, i'll try that. But what is the difference between stepovers and scissor?

Well, stepovers is one of the best trick ever, its not very hard and u can do it however u want,to do them,
just turn ur leg around the ball any direction, and try to convince the defender that ur going that way,go to the direction with ur leg, body, and eyes,if u do it rigt u could beat the defender easily and creatively biggrin.gif
