its funny to see leeds averaging 20,000 these days. when the team and club need the support 20,000 have turned their backs.

brilliant performance from the lads today, unlucky to loose on penalties, but on paper we shouldn't have been given the chance at extra time or penalties.

Cant believe people always say that, Wigan have hardly added Prem Class players to their side since last year. Kavanagh, Teale, Roberts, Bullard etc were there last year. They sold their best Striker, Ellington, the players theyve brought in arent great, Johansson, Skoko, Henchoz,Connolly,Pollit are all lucky to be playing Prem football.Chimbondas been a good find for them though. We've been easily beaten by sides with more Prem class players like Pompey,Birmingham + Blackburn, so I wont read much into the result.

Still though it was a decent performance and to come back three times was nice. We should really have beaten them with the squad they have aswell as being at Elland Road, but at least its one less distraction to the League. Miller and Lewis were unlucky but the defending was awful, for both Roberts goals he was surrounded and no one got a touch. Kellys goal was fucking class though .

Leeds United manager Kevin Blackwell has ended speculation over his future by putting pen-to-paper on a new three-year deal.

The former Sheffield United assistant has reinvigorated a Leeds side that was decimated by its relegation from The Premiership, all but rebuilding the side from scratch.

Chairman Ken Bates, who has been equally vital in the club's renaissance, says that the renewed deal is a reflection of Blackwell's inestimable contribution.

"I’m a big believer that if it ain’t broke, you don’t mend it,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Kevin wasn’t going to be allowed to go anywhere else.”

Blackwell, who was set to fall out of contract during the summer, told the club's official website: “I’m delighted. I feel the club is only at the start of something good.

"I’m positive that we can go on and achieve good things."

He added that although it was nice to be linked with clubs presently plying their trade in the top-flight, he fully intends to be managing there soon - with Leeds.

“The other interest has been flattering, but there is nowhere else I would rather be than Leeds United," added Blackwell.

“I’m happy at this football club. It’s a great place to be and it’s a great honour to be manager here.

“I can look to the future now and we can make plans, but my immediate focus is on getting Leeds out of The Championship and back to where we belong - in The Premiership.”

Leeds United are being linked with a shock move for Dundee United striker Collin Samuel.

Elland Road boss Kevin Blackwell is keen to bolster his attacking options after losing Richard Cresswell to injury for the rest of the season.

Blackwell is believed to have turned his attentions to Trinidad & Tobago star Samuel as he looks to boost their promotion push.

Samuel's agent Raymond Sparkes insists he is unaware of any interest in the 24-year-old and that he has not had any contact with Leeds.

"I don't know anything about it [of Leeds' interest] as I have not heard anything," Sparkes told skysports.com.

"Nobody has contacted me about signing Collin.

"He only recently signed a new deal at Dundee United until 2007 and he has been playing regularly."

Crystal Palace denied Leeds United the chance to close the gap on second-placed Sheffield United with a 1-0 win.

Jobi McAnuff's strike just before half time meant Leeds remain four points behind the automatic promotion places in the Championship table.

On a cool and clear Tuesday evening, a lively Elland Road crowd saw an entertaining first half of football,
despite the quality of the playing surface.

The Whites started the brightest with some early pressure, but the first real chance fell to Palace and the ever-dangerous Andy Johnson.

The England striker took a Clinton Morrison pass in the Leeds box before eluding his marker and striking goalwards, but Neil Sullivan was equal to his effort.

Kevin Blackwell's side responded through a Gary Kelly free kick from the right, but Jonathan Douglas was unable to steer his far-post header on target.

Johnson proved a real threat for the visitors, with The Eagles nearly catching Leeds on the break.

However, the former Birmingham City striker's acute-angled shot ran across the face of Sullivan's goal, while at the other end, Leeds striker Rob Hulse put a weak header wide of the Palace goal moments later.

Palace's Michael Hughes kept Sullivan honest in the Leeds goal with a right-footed effort before Johnson was unable to connect with Ben Watson's dangerously low free kick from the left.

Leeds continued to huff and puff for an equaliser, but found Palace's backline in defiant mood, as Robbie Blake replaced David Healy in the Leeds attack.

The home side will wonder how Matthew Kilgallon did not equalise when his point blank header in front of Palace's goal was brilliantly blocked away by Kiraly for the best chance of the half.

Even a substitute debut from new signing Jermaine Beckford failed to make dividends, as Leeds missed a major opportunity to move even closer to The Blades and automatic promotion.

We averaged 30k last season. 36k Leeds' fans were present for the match against Plymouth Argyle! Our team is much much better this season than it was last season, so the Glory Hunting argument must go out the window. Maybe it is the fact that the many tickets cost 45 pounds!
